Kryptonite Evolution Series 4 Picked
These older Kryptonite D locks can all seemingly be tensioned both at the front and rear discs, which is handy for us pickers 😃 I haven’t yet played with the newer centre tensioning versions 🔐
Remember: only pick locks that are yours and that are not in use! Keep locksport legal!

Nice open! I git my Sparrows pick and a few simple locks and I’ve started watching these opens but don’t quite have the courage to go ahead and try it. You are helping so thanks for that!

Can you go over what a 0 cut disc is abs what it does and also a lock that doesn't tension off the first or last disc where you have to tension off a disc somewhere else?
@roysammons2445

Zero cut means it doesn't need the notch cutting on the key. Basically it's a disk that is fully turned clockwise and is tensioning the core. Usually the first or last disk tensions the core to turn it. Some lock manufactures use a random disk, that could be any disk in the pack of disks. When picking a zero cut disk or tensioning disk will be one that doesn't go into a gate (doesn't click) when turning it. You can use the picking tip of the DD pick to put tension on that disk (fully clockwise). Then you rotate the first disk which you have used to initially to tension with. Turn disk one with the tension part of your pick until it engages in the gate. BINGO! The lock opens.

I think there may be a specialised pick that removes the weather shielding that's patented by a Mr Allen ;)
That looks cool. I'm fairly new to lockpicking and would love to be able to do that. What would be the easiest locks to start on? Does sparrows make the best pick for that, or is there a better reasonably priced one out there?

irishlockpicker Yes they are quite easy. The most difficult is to not slip off the disk and keep the pick perfectly aligned (otherwise you grab the spacers). Except this, it is pretty straight forward. If you know what you are doing, it is easier than pins tumblers. There is no spring pushing your pins so you can take you time, check your disks one by one as many times as necessary. There is a no reason for not getting an open, which is very satisfying on a big bike lock.

The feedback is inconsistent between locks and even on the same lock depending on orientation of pick from centre. It’s a whole different feel, which in its own way is cool

It could be you are using too much tension and you just get full on drag on the discs or you haven’t hit the sweet spot in positioning of the tension part of the tool to centre :-)
Nice pick ! If you want a real challenge, give a try to the latest Abus 88/50. I have been able to pick a Kryptonite New York fairly easily, an old Abus Granit plus (with false gates) with a bit more fight, but this nasty 88/50 c/w false gates and butterfly disks is a nightmare. I do not get any feedback. I would like to try with rear tensioning but for this I need to invest in a Silver Bullet. Good news, the 88/50 has one of the nastiest DD core for only 36€ new and delivered.

Hey bud I think you have set of law lock tools and wanted to know what you thought! I wanted the hooligan bar and since I live in the US I couldn't just order that so I ordered a complete set! I've heard good things about them but not sure how long take to get here being different country and I wanted new toys to play with lol

wes the lockpicker I have a few of their picks. A couple of Nessie’s (both thicknesses) a short hook and a knife tool. I also have two of Hooligan bars. They have great customer service. They replaced my Nessie that cracked with a new one plus an extra. Nice feel in the hand and good weight. 🦊

@@jackfoxlock like I said I think the virus thing has different rules in different places and countries so who knows. I do know I ordered about a week ago and they take the money out of your checking instantly and I got an email for receipt but haven't heard nothing else yet. If the order has shipped yet or tracking number nothing. Not that it matters cause a tracking number from another country won't work in this country
