    I ned to say this.Crawling saved me from suicide. I was young early teens and I was abused and locked In a room to die. The only thing I had was a mattress, a small nite light and a radio. I had finally gotten out of my room and grabbed the 9 mil my rapist father kept and I ran back to my room turned the radio up loud as it would go in fear of him hearing me when he came back home. I loaded the gun (I grew up in Brooklyn New York) and held it to my head and then it happened I closed my eyes and heard an angel on the radio, it was Chester singing crawling and I dropped the gun and started crying as hard as I had ever. I couldn't do it, I couldn't take my life. Years later I had finally gotten away from my father and I had become obsessed with linkin park. I bought the CDs merch and ringtones but, I had a goal. I vowed to one day meet Chester and thank him and the guys for saving me and in 2015 my dream came true. I had a meet and greet and told chester everything that I wanted to. He hugged me and told me he's glad I am here. I took it a step further and asked my girlfriend to marry me and Chester and Mike were both right beside me when I did it. It was at the Amway center in Orlando FL during the hunting party tour. Now I am living for Chester. I got married, have my own place, bought a car, feed homeless people, rescue animals, donate multiple charities, run a sexual assault awareness Facebook page and I even learned guitar. I will always remember chester and miss him but, I am gonna keep making him proud.

    This version of this song has to be some of the most powerful stuff that has ever entered my ears. The phrases and crescendos flows in the same rhythm that pain flows through me... I admire your courage to share this. I aspire to be a force for good in the same way you are, though... I made some mistakes in my life and I have some money messes to clean up. Stories like yours remind me sharply of how stupid I've been, to squander the peaceful home life I was given with spoiled behavior, and motivate me to be a better person than I have been.

    But imagine what they feel when we share this hidden gem with them. Was on a road trip with a fellow LP fan and when a Reanimated track came up on the playlist she freaked out, and thus we listened to Reanimated for the whole 8 hours it took to get from city A to city B. Was awesome.

    Zharfan Zakaria Reanimation is of the first albums I ever heard by them, or when I got my first ever iPod (Shuffle back in 2005) during 6th grade, Reanimation was one of the albums on it alongside ones by White Zombie and so forth. Even after over a decade I still adore it and find it criminally underrated. I agree more people need to listen to this badass album.

No matter how many times I've listened to this masterpiece, it gives me the same feel as when I heard the first time. Linkin Park is just unique and the best! Their music, their lyrics, their expressions while singing, their lives all are just so amazing and one of a kind. I wish I could go back to the time when LP concerts were still a thing and I attended them. And this will always make me regret that I never went to their concerts. @@mrflipperinvader7922 It is more than just the strings - the actual chord progression is slightly different in KRWLNG and Crawling. The main difference that always hits me hard is the bridge before the final chorus in KRWLNG - the one where Chester sings "To find myself again / My walls are closing in". In Crawling, you have A#, C, D, F. In KRWLNG the chords are flipped and it is A#, C, F, D. Seems to be a small difference, but that F creates a major third with the A note sang in this long "in", thus creating a feeling of something peaceful, serene.

    I grew up on both Linkin Park and Staind so 15 year old me back then was overly excited for this remix. Same with Jonathan Davis (KoRn) in One Step Closer's remix. 🤘🤘🤘🤘 I had a similar experience like you not knowing about Stephen Richards and Stephen in the other remixes until I finally heard their respective bands Taproot and Deftones a few months later. My teens were well spent on the aforementioned 5 bands. 🤘😎🤘

    Screw "Lofi beats to sleep/study to." I listen to Linkin Park as I go to bed, or study for a test. Their music is truly powerful. My dad often would play it on Road Trips. One day, I grabbed my MP3 out of my pocket, and instead of Listening to the music I had on it, I recorded the audio of "Robot Boy" from Thousand Suns. That was in 2017. After that, I never stopped listening to Linkin Park. That one song made me a fan. I discovered "Hybrid theory" soon after becoming a fan. Every time I listen to it, I think of Chester. He's had a lot of talent, and the world misses him greatly.

    I wonder if this album would have been appreciated if it were the original Hybrid Theory. For me, in 2002, I was just into the Marine Corps, meeting new people. A fellow new join let me listen to his Hybrid Theory CD and my limited opinion of music was forever changed. Then Reanimation was released and I purchased my first ever Rock/alternative CD and my perspective of music was broadened again. This album is massively underrated, and I understand why most people "miss the old Linkin Park", as do I , but understand that this album was a step beyond Hybrid Theory, so when the band steps outside of OUR comfort zone, remember how you felt the first time they did it. Rant over.

  • @winbub

    @winbub

    The thing with the newer stuff from LP is just that they are not really stepping out of their/the listeners comfort zone but are rather trying to achieve a more conventional and pop/mainstream oriented sound IMO. Stepping out of ones comfort zone is totally fine and I like when bands do that but I think especially with their new album(s) it's become very clear that breaking boundaries isn't really their main goal at all.

  • @williamcoombs4044

    @williamcoombs4044

    Yeah. Its tough though, because their early stuff was ground breaking. No one was really a harder, rock foundation with hip hop flare and a DJ, scratching records in the background. I think core fans fell in love with that sound so as they have tried to reinvent their sound going forward, like more ballads and stuff, they've lost more and more of those fans.

    About 10 years ago now, I remember I was ready to kill myself. Thought there was nothing left for me in this world. Was at a placement for a school co-op and as I sat in that office, writing my final goodbyes I happened to stumble on this song. It didn't completely change my mind about suicide but for some reason it helped. I can't explain that, but I wanted to live for this song, to listen to it again and again. Here I am, 10 years later still listening to the song on a regular basis, but now I listen to it with my children. This song saved a part of me, and -I am forever going to love Linkin Park for it- . *And now, 4 years later, listening to this song.. It makes me feel just like I did that day 14 years ago that I spoke about. But today, I am finally able to understand that Mental Health can kill even the best of us. Over and over again, I listened to Mike Shinoda scream. Over and over and over again, I cried. I don't know why, but at that point I vowed to become the absolute best therapist there is. Not because I am intelligent, but because I care..at least try too.. but even I get consumed sometimes, it is confusing. but that's what has always controlled me. Maybe it's because I locked myself in, and my walls are closing in and it's because I did not tell my parents in which I ended up burying it too deep. Now I confuse what is real and not in my life, and it's .. haunting . but the more I fear, the more I can hopefully heal the wounds of others, I just need to keep feeling this pain a lil longer...i just hope I am a good person and not a fraud I once talked to someone who lost someone whom went what I went through. I have someone special in my heart that I would of done the same thing to. I just got to hear it before I died. I need to speak this so I remember. This is one long comment for me to remember forever who I am , so take what you want out of this message. 1 person out of 7 billion is enough of a reason for me to leave who I am in the open I hate talking about these things in the real world, but sometimes the music brings out our unconscious mind at the right time. And -I am forever going to Love Linkin Park for it- We are all connected more than we think, and I am going to prove it until it kills me . The only world I see is through my own eyes anyway and and I vow to love.*

    I was about that age too and I'm 25 and I still love them. This song is my fav though. As you so aptly put, it teachs to feel, and to me to be ok with how you feel. I have been though things that will never really heal or go away, and this song taught me that that was ok and it wasn't the end. it taught me to be ok

    If you haven't seen it watch the version with Chris Cornell doing it live, they use this structure (including the strings intro). Cornell fills in the harmonies while Chester does the screaming, and it's spectacular.

    So i was there, 11 years old and on vacation in italy. In a CD store i saw the cover of this album and had to go to my parents to get it. On the back seat of our car i put in the CD in the portabel player and my mind was blown away. Now i‘m sitting in my living room, next to my dog, my 4 year old son sleeps and my wive is on night shift. I start the home theater and listen Krwing. I close my eyes and enjoy how i get goosebumps, like i got back then i was a child.

    Normalize putting Lyrics on the description: Crawling in my skin These wounds, they will not heal Fear is how I fall Confusing what is real There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface Consuming, confusing This lack of self control I fear is never ending Controlling I can't seem To find myself again My walls are closing in (Without a sense of confidence, I'm convinced) (That there's just too much pressure to take) I've felt this way before So insecure Crawling in my skin These wounds, they will not heal Fear is how I fall Confusing what is real Discomfort, endlessly has pulled itself upon me Distracting, reacting Against my will I stand beside my own reflection It's haunting How I can't seem To find myself again My walls are closing in (Without a sense of confidence, I'm convinced) (That there's just too much pressure to take) I've felt this way before So insecure Crawling in my skin These wounds, they will not heal Fear is how I fall Confusing what is real Crawling in my skin These wounds, they will not heal Fear is how I fall Confusing, confusing what is real There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface Consuming (confusing what is real) This lack of self control I fear is never ending Controlling (confusing what is real)

    This song sounds like a soul trying to leave its body. Like a person dying in a hospital bed, maybe with dementia, or just in that limbo between life and death. Where the soul isn't sure whether to leave or stay, but the doors to the living world and their physical existence are just closing. Their memories are flashing, fading...
