ladies invest $20 to have your measurements done by a seamstress. Eshakti is wonderful but you will get EXACTLY what you order. You got too tight of a rise on that jumpsuit because you pulled the measuring tape too tight.

I am a seamstress and the clothes I’ve gotten from eshakti haven’t always fit me right. I got one top and one dress that was perfect, one dress that gapped at the underarms, and one dress that was 4” too long. They look good after those problems were fixed, but they do not do a perfect job with your measurements.

The measurements you take are always of your body. She should have done this in her underwear-every layer of fabric on your body that you would not wear with the garment could add at least 1/2 inch to your circumference at any point. Agreeed with the seamstress measurements-small investment for great results!

Whenever you take measurements, go to a professional or a seamstress to get them done simply because they know how to take them accurately. Looking at how the measurements were taken, I can see to some degree why those outfit sizes could have been wrong. A lot of people blame the other party, when they themselves took incorrect measurements in the first place.

Yeah, no knocks on this channel, but it was hard to take her disappointment in the clothing being too large seriously when she literally took her measurements with an uninformed coworker with a whole bunch of other clothes on. If you aren't exact and laugh your way through the specifics, it isn't too shocking when things are not fitted...

Exactly! All measurements should be taken for "comfort", i dont think she really understood what the measurements mean. Maybe she should make an episode where she sews her own clothes with a custom made pattern that she makes... That way she could learn to sew and do basic alterations to her own clothes.

Loved the video! But if you were measuring over a gathered skirt there's no way the measurements you supplied were correct. So I'm not surprised those first few were so baggy. Best way to take measurements is over your underwear or a pair of thin leggings and skin tight, thin top.

As a follow up she should go get it all tailored id love to see that

Great video! I love that you went over the return policies! This was super helpful. Ladies come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, custom fits are rad as heck. (Also, best way to take measurements is while wearing panties and a bra at most)

Why on earth would you take measurements while wearing a loosefitting dress?? Of course it's not going to be accurate- you take measurements while wearing as little as little clothing as possible, or thin, form fitting clothing. Like, for people who make a living off of internet stuff, it amazes me that no one thought to look up a tutorial on taking accurate measurements.

I realize this vid is almost a year old. Also this might have been mentioned already but one of the mistakes I saw was at least if the measuring footage you added in the vid is the one you used to send to the company is accurate then that is were the discrepancy lies. You measured over clothing. Which means unless you were planning on wearing those outfits over that dress the measurements are going to be off. You need to measure preferably nude or with just undies on. Even in that case with underwear like mentioned in the vid (you mentioned you measured with a particular bra) you will need to wear that specific pair because all under garments are made different and of different fabrics as well as with different thicknesses. Hope this is helpful.

I love videos of Kristin trying on clothes because she slays each one of them ♥️

I have never tried the last service but EShakti is generally really spot on if you're honest about your measurements (and if you're comfortable when you take them, not like her taking the crotch measurement too tightly.) I've loved everything I've ordered from them. And you get a cute note telling you who designed and who sewed your garment if you want to thank them.

For the yellow white dress, just put on a jean jacket to cover the collar. You can also use a jacket with the bottom 2 or 3 buttons buttoned to shape your hips

I really relate to this video. I was extremely lucky that my mother was seamstress. Growing up ALL my clothes were custom made to fit. That meant I got new clothes on the regular. I never wore the same dress twice. I think these sites are great, they key is to get your measurements done by a professional if you want the best fit. Find a tailor or seamstress to take your measurements, it might cost a little but it's worth it.

Yeah, because they have to basically make a seperate pattern for each person, and have to make sure that they maintain the look and construction of the garment. So instead of having to go through the process of engineering a garment maybe for like 22 sizes, using average measurements for each size, they have to engineer a garment for Every. Single. Person. That orders that item. Garment construction is such a science

The romper looked amazing and the pencil skirt was my next fav. I think overall, they all looked great and are probably worth getting re-tailored.

I just live on Torrid. It's expensive but everything Fing FITS! Since I'm short when I buy skirts and dresses I make sure to buy one size smaller because parts may be to long. I have one skirt that i have to wear up to my boobs because it's to long. It was on clearance so I'm living with it. Plus I love it anyway.

Like, that's great and all, that you get your pants from Banana Republic, but they don't have plus sizes and the highest they go to is 14. I can't wait for the day that petite stores/collections have plus size options. I will take you up on your tailor tip though, as that's universal.

The measurements are off because you were wearing a dress.

Its more likely you measured wrong than the clothes are made to the wrong sizes. Measuring correctly is a giant issue with people.

Jayarie I think the problem here is that she didn’t take measurements correctly and considering that she was doing a video about the clothes she should of made sure she was getting them correctly. When you do measurements you should be in tight clothes or underwear..... and considering she works at buzzfeed I’m sure she could of found someone that knew how to take measurements much easier than the average person and she didn’t.

Mismeasuring by 3 inches on 2 separate aspects can mean a total mismeasure that's many sizes too big (or too small). I used to sew much of my own clothing and yes, mismeasuring can be a real issue. And no, you don't need someone else to take your measurements for you, but it is essential to be wearing tight-fitting clothing. When you're trying to get measurements for something like hip or rise and you're wearing a skirt while doing it the excess material is almost certainly going to impact the accuracy of the measurement. Measure in underwear or yoga gear, ideally 2 or 3 times (and maybe on separate days) just to make sure.

Jayarie But her helper also very obviously said he didn't know how to do these things, including the shoulder measurement which didn't look right. Plus it seemed like he felt awkward with some of the measurements, which could explain why some of them may have not been as close to the skin and thus resulted in larger measurement values than they actually were.

Whenever I am angry or stressed, I just watch a video with Kristin. Always gets me in a better mood!
