Krasnodar is the southern capital of Russia/Краснодар южная столица России

The city of Krasnodar is administrative center of Krasnodar Krai, a major economic and cultural center of the North Caucasus and southern Federal districts, the center of the historical and geographic area Kuban. Krasnodar is often informally referred to as "the capital of Kuban" and "the Southern capital of Russia". The name of the city of Ekaterinodar received as a gift of the Kuban land from Empress Catherine II to the Black Sea Cossack army, who served here. The City was founded in 1793 as a military settlement of the Black Sea Cossacks, and later the fortress. “Ekaterinodar” means “gift of Catherine” in English.
According to the latest archeological studies (West Caucasian archeological expedition) the Meotian settlement surrounded by the wall of IV-III century B.C. was discovered near the current Park "municipal garden" in the central part of Krasnodar.
The bank of the Kuban river in the vicinity of Krasnodar ( the territory of the village of Elizavetinskaya) was the location of the ancient city of the Bosporan Kingdom with the fortified walls. Gradually the city's role is no longer confined exclusively to the military settlement. In 1860 the settlement obtained the title of administrative centre of the newly formed Kuban Region, and the city status was conferred to Ekaterinodar in 1867. In the 70-80-ies of the XIX century, with the opening of the railway in the North Caucasus (Tikhoretsk - Ekaterinodar - Novorossiysk), the city became a major commercial, industrial, and transportation center of the North Caucasus region.
During World War 2, August 9, 1942, Krasnodar was occupied by German fascist invaders, who destroyed thousands of residents of Krasnodar in the movable gas chambers. 870 homes in the city were destroyed and burned. 4 higher educational institutions, equipment of laboratories and libraries, theaters of drama and musical Comedy, the Palace of pioneers, almost all the schools, clubs, cinemas were burned. The most valuable tree species in city parks was cut down and damaged. February 12, 1943 the city was liberated by the Red Army.
In south-eastern part of the Krasnodar located reservoir, built in 1973 for the implementation of production and reclamation activities.
Krasnodar is one of the largest economic centers in the world, included in the list of City-600 and "The Best Russian city for business" by the magazine "Forbes". The main areas are engineering and Metalworking, production of building materials, garments and knitwear, furniture, tobacco products, food and agricultural products. Krasnodar Krai is the main granary of Russia. The construction industry of Krasnodar is growing rapidly. Krasnodar is a major transport hub in southern Russia, a major educational and exhibition centre. The largest exhibition center in the South of Russia "Krasnodar Expo" is constantly conducting various forums. Krasnodar Krai is one of the leaders of of the national ranking of the tourist attraction.

The origin of Cossacks is still not completely clear. There are many theories of the emergence of this sub-ethnicity in Russia, but none of them has sufficient proof. Cossacks lived in the southern steppes of the Eastern Europe and carried out the defense of the Russian borders. By the end of the 14thcentury two main Cossack groups stood out - on the Don and the Dnieper Rivers. Gradually, they were joined by more and more immigrants from Russian principalities located to the north. By the 16thcentury Cossacks already constituted sizeable voluntary troops, which eventually became the basis of the Cossack army. Cossacks have always adhered to the principle of “I serve for the land.” Their arms and horses were purchased and kept at their own expense. By the 19thcentury Cossacks were proclaimed a social class in Russia at the state level.

Almost all of Russia’s wars involved the participation of Cossacks. Cossacks conducted surveillance; Cossack peaks terrified the enemy before the attacks or protected the troops during the retreats. And, of course, the Cossacks took part in battles. But the Cossacks were useful not only during wars. Daily, from century to century they carried out difficult border service. In the vast territories Cossack outposts protected Russian borders. Cossacks were praised by many Russian poets and writers. Cossacks have always represented boldness, liberty and devotion to duty. Their unique culture absorbed all the best from what it was surrounded by, and got filled with originality and uniqueness. Despite the fact that the history of relations between the Cossacks and the Russian state was not completely free of conflict, in the most difficult moments the Cossacks forgot all grudges and went to defend Russia. Cossacks are still to this day protecting the borders of their state.

Hi, Nancy. Thanks for the comment and praise including the selection of music . ) I will tell it like it is. ) As far as I know, the Cossacks have Turkic roots. Some believe that they are Khazars, who converted to the Orthodox faith. In General, the Khazars had once imposed a tribute of the inhabitants of Kiev ( Slavic tribe of Polyan), but Prophetic Oleg, the successor of the first Russian ruler, Rurik, liberated Kiev from Khazar tribute and declared Kiev - mother of Russian cities. I said in the video about the city of Veliky Novgorod that the Russian princes could not own land in Novgorod and they needed their own. From this moment originates Kievan Rus, since the arrival of Russian princes, they made Kiev the capital of the Russian state, as if uniting all the Eastern Slavic tribes. Later these lands were occupied forcibly by The Polish-Lithuanian Principality (Rzeczpospolita), which constantly attack on Rus and at odds with her and they called the conquered lands their outskirts (in translation Ukraine). They settled the land of Jewish merchants, who were Polish magnates ( the descendants of the Khazars, which once was filled tribute to Kiev). Of course they were not Orthodox, unlike the Cossacks. These Polish magnates trade again began to oppress the inhabitants of Kiev and all the Ruthenia (now Ukraine) exorbitant extortion, all Orthodox Christians were expelled from even the middle echelons of power, were punished. Among the residents were Cossacks, who could not stand the oppression of the Polish magnates and Cossack Bohdan Khmelnytsky, who was an Orthodox nobleman, and probably had Russian roots, revolted against them, he was also the leader of the Cossacks of Ruthenia. So there were troops free Cossacks who did not want to be a tool of greed and oppression , including the oppression of faith, from the Polish crown in the lands of little Russia (the Ruthenia, or now Ukraine). It was a war Orthodox population of the occupied territories against the Polish magnates of the Commonwealth, in a word the struggle with the Polish crown. All uprisings were brutally suppressed, sometimes by deception. Bohdan Khmelnytsky appealed and asked for help to Russia and asked Russia to return these lands again under his wing. The Cossacks swore allegiance to Russia and became an important military unit. So Catherine gave them lands for loyal service. So thus the city of Ekaterinodar, now Krasnodar appeared. Of course, it is important not the nationality of the person, its essence. But this is the reality. Some were magnates traders and took the tribute, the other opposed to it. Now, I think Cossacks is a cross between the Turkic peoples and Russians (or Slavic tribes) . They have a similar culture to the peoples of the Caucasus. They dance lezginka, similar to the Caucasian lezginka, they even have hats, like papakha, it's still wearable by the Caucasian peoples. And they have very strict discipline and morality, as a rule. In short, the Cossacks are a historically official military unit with its traditions and peculiarities inherent to this region. In addition, it is already part of the culture of this region, called the Kuban.

Hi, Nancy! Thank you for your condolences, you very kind . We're all in shock and worried about their demise, especially when you see stories about all these people, were they alive, they were joking and no doubt they were ambassadors of peace. 1/3 of the collective the world famous song and dance ensemble Alexandrov died. Dr. Lisa helped sick children, taking them from under the shelling in the Donbass, sometimes risking their lives, and she created the hospices. She flew to Syria to deliver medicines to Syrian children. And 9 journalists covering the events in Syria and are at risk every time their lives. It's a terrible tragedy, I still can't believe these tragedies happened. The murder of the Ambassador is all nonsense to civilized people. Can imagine, now there are people who enjoy it tragedy, leaving hateful comments. Especially a lot of them in Ukraine, although Dr. Lisa was born in Kiev where she opened her first hospice. It is sick and zombies, no doubt. The hatred disseminated by the authorities struck their brains and turned them into monsters. This obfuscation of people who are obsessed with anger. Although simple adequate people in Ukraine bring flowers to Russian Embassy and many of them cry. I hope soon this anti Russian Orgy with the filing of the Nazis and their authorities in the duped country of Ukraine will end. But I'm glad that sane people are still more on the planet Earth. All these dead people, Ambassador, music band Alexandrov, Dr. Lisa, who helped children, journalists, they all carried only peace on this earth. Thank you, Nancy, for your concern and condolences. I know that Kiev is Russian city. But Lenin gave it to Ukraine, the Republic for which it legitimized legally, before that Ukraine was part of Russia, as well as Odessa, Nikolaev, Donbass, where now there is war, and other cities. In addition, after the collapse of the USSR liberals signed the criminal agreement on the division of the Soviet Union and the main section of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. And that is why now Kiev is under the control of anti-Russian, but rather the fascist forces, whose heroes are Bandera and Shukhevych, who served Hitler. So now South STOLICA Russia is Krasnodar - the gift of Catherine the Great to the Cossacks. What's next - we'll see. If the fascists in Ukraine will there be to mock over our memory and memory of most of the Russian speaking population of Ukraine, in any case, the people will send them away. Evil cannot forever rule the people. Sooner or later, comes enlightenment and the mind takes over. )

Krasnodar, Rostov, Sochi and in general South Russian cities are often warmer, especially in summer they are much hotter than it's in Kyiv. Kyiv is more comparable with central-western Russian regions cities like Belgogorod and Voronezh. i want to add, that Russia doesen't need Kyiv. Kiev is beautiful and everything....
