@lemonssssssss4 the noise music that was coined at that time is completely different to the noise music that has been popularised by NCT in kpop. The term has existed for over a century, yes, however there is little to no semblance in terms of the structure or style. NCT are the pioneers of the noise music you hear widely in kpop and heavily throughout 4th gen. This is NOT to say that it wasn’t done BEFORE them, however they can definitely be credited for its popularisation in the new wave of kpop music (whether for better or for worse)

The term "noise music" is just rude and redundant. Like who ever came up with it were music snobs. Literally each one of these songs can and does fall under an already well established genre of music cause in reality pop music no matter where its from is just what's popular and it can be any genre.

  • @laurajanco2i

@@sap1ing I'm sorry but most of these are not even noise music, they're just EDM. EDM doesn't mean inherently noise music. I think people are getting the meaning of "noise" twisted. Noise doesn't mean hype or loud, it means an instrumental which is at the boundary between being non-melodic noise/sound and being integrated as a part of a melodic instrumental. It's just music that isn't supposed to sound like music, but fits into a beat, if we want to be short. I'm not a music expert or anything, but I searched for definitions, I also listen to a lot of music (especially EDM) including noise music, which is something that for example is typical of the SM groups (NCT, Aespa etc...). And in this video I can tell there were many other genres like: Deep House (Red Velvet "Queendom", ) Dance/Big Room House (Everglow "Adios", Stray Kids "Miroh", Seventeen "Hit") Tropical/Dance/Trap (Oneus "Valkyrie") Trap/Hip-hop (Stray Kids "District 9" and "God's Menu") Chill Trap (Taemin "Idea") Rock/Dance/Big Room House (Dreamcatcher "Scream") Dance/Moombahton (BTS "Not Today", Monsta X "Follow") Drum and bass (the "Naughty" Remix) Dubstep (the "Kick It" Valentino Khan Remix and the Ddu-Du-Ddu Remix) Synth Pop (F/x "Red Light") Dance/Hardcore (the "I just wanna dance" Kago Pengchi Remix) Dance/Trap (IKON "Killing Me") Trap music (Blackpink "Kill This Love", CLC "Me", K/DA "More") Alternative/Trap R&B (Exo "Obsession") Dance/Pop (the "1 billion views" Mar-Vista Remix) And I only talked about half of the video... ...these are some songs I could guess the genre. Again, I might be getting some of these slighly wrong because of the variety of EDM that exists, but this is surely not noise music. Most of the times noise music is minimalistic and barely has anything in the background other than experimental sounds, while the group sings or raps the chorus all together and then the beat interrupts or changes into something completely different in the verses. NCT Dream "Hot sauce", Nmixx "Tank" and Aespa "Savage" are a good example of noise music.

I have been to both a SKZ and NCT 127 concert before and when I tell you that those were the most fun I've ever had because their music just gets me so hyped up. Everyone is screaming, singing lyrics, jumping, dancing. Overall it's such a good atmosphere, so if I'm listening to music or going to a concert and my ears aren't ringing after I don't want it, the dependency I have for noise music needs to be studied because I can't do anything unless every sound and thought is drowned out by loud instrumentals. Like I can't imagine going to a concert where the artist doesn't have songs for me to get hyped to or listening to music so loud that people are side eyeing me because they can hear it too. Moral of the story I can't live without noise music.

EDM, stoner rock, hiphop, hype dance pop, it's what gives me the fluttery lungs lol, it's the best thing ever, getting so hysterically excited and filled with energy that I kinda hyperventilate laughter. It also jump starts the physical energy that I otherwise have none of. It tickles and sparks, and not being able to regulate emotions it's even happened that I've started happy-crying from hearing some hype, smack talking bars lmfao, would've been incredibly embarrassing around other people, but getting that excited is amazing. Being clinically depressed with fatigue, ADHD, and cptsd, I'm kind of controlled by being tired and stressed, completely unable to reach the "good parts" of my ADHD that were prominent before I became a fatigued adult, so this kind of music is sort of indispensable for my mental health. That adhd-scratch helps me get a break from my racing anxiety, it gets me out of bed, gives me energy to do the dishes, go to therapy, meet friends. It sounds ridiculous, but noise is such an amazing medicine.

I used to "hate" kpop too because everyone around me hates kpop so I just followed along and "hated" it but recently I got into kpop (starting with nct) and like... one of my first reactions is just plain confusion. Like, they don't complain about the super loud and "noisy" EDM music I listen to everyday and can't live without but once it's korean they start hating. I don't get how it's different from english music. They are good ones they are not so good ones. I'll be honest I turn on the radio(english) in the morning in the car and I just keep getting more and more disappointed that the songs that are made nowadays and that people enjoy those music. The main reason I didn't get in kpop earlier was maybe just because I didn't understand korean. And rn I'm studying korean hard by myself because nct. (Realization that I just wrote a whole essay when I should be studying for exams) (whoever who read this hello)

So far they've only released 3 mv's, in over 7 years, where it's all of them (NCT 2018-Black On Black, NCT 2020-Resonance and NCT 2021-Beautiful). (NCT U is the mix-n-match unit that can have any number and/or combination of the members from the overall group... this is why T7S has 5 members, but BDS only has 2... different concepts, different mix of members.) Can't say I love all versions of Noise Music but I have gotta say, seeing the transition in the songs, NCT(with their somewhat really polarising title tracks) seem like royalty in Noise Music. Noise music is a legit music genre tho that is known worldwide and really famous in Japan (it's called Japanoise there haha). What it actually originated from were electronic sounds that were edited, amplified and composed into a track without a melody per se… In the authentic sense of the music genre, I'd say Stray Kids, maybe ATEEZ, VERIVERY, and especially NCT127 are really referencing the genre in their music, but it's still far away from what noise music really is. Thanks for this appreciation video, it's unfortunate people have such a limited understanding and appreciation of what music can be. :7

I fucking LOVE loud/hype Kpop songs. I always have, even though they get so much hate. Maybe I like it all because as a young child I was obsessed with American EDM artists. Or maybe it's because these hype songs make me FEEL so good!! They don't have really heavy/depressing lyrics, and they usually have upbeat meanings to them. I like to feel excited and happy when I listen to music, which is why I love listening to Kpop noise... because it brings me UP!!! SKZ has been one of my ult groups since Double Knot era, and I LOVE every single one of their songs. They have an amazing variety of slow/sad songs, hype edm songs, sexy songs, the list goes on. NCT is another group I like to listen to for a pick me up... and ENHYPEN also has some pretty good hype bangers (play BLOCKBUSTER for me any day of the week and I go crazy!!). I notice so many people who aren't a fan of Kpop hating on the noisy stuff. People love to hate on Kpop and Kpop fans these days because in their eyes, we're all 'cringy teenage fangirls.' It's like, okay bro. 👹 Let US enjoy the music WE want to listen to. We're not getting mad at you for listening to the same Michael Jackson and the Beatles songs. 💀
