As a Turk, I can say this. Words were chosen that were too difficult for someone who does not know Turkish at all or knows little.

The speed they learned and the accuracy of the first tries were amazing, You can tell they can pick up Turkish real quick if they wanted to learn The words were picked solely on the specific letters they had which most languages around the world do not have the sound. I saw someone compare the Turkish letters to some Korean letters in terms of sound and why their pronunciations were close to perfect after hearing the correct pronunciations.
