I think in 2016, EXO was really popular in Korea and gained more fans than them at that time then a year later BTS got more recognition and popularity in the US and the rest of the world then gained even more new fans outside Korea and the tables have been turned.

Honestly I love how every fandom devote themselves to their respective groups and what I hate the most is hating a group who did their best to debut . I am an A.R.M.Y. and I am now planning to stan another group but I feel discourage not because of that group but because of it's fandom mambers who speak ill about A.R.M.Y. I know it's off topic, but what I hate is not the idol but the fans of each respective groups who turns music into war.

I feel like it must have been so traumatizing. Imagine performing to an entirely dark audience. They must have been panicking so bad but they still had to be professional and perform... As a 6-year army myself, seeing groups getting hate they don't deserve really pains me. That's why I don't really let myself go too deep into the K-pop fandom by rarely interacting with other fans. I just support my fav groups (BTS, ATEEZ and DKZ) through a few unproblematic fan accounts and through official accounts. I don't get to know other fans.

I heard somewhere that SNSD black ocean was because Sones (their fandom) was acting really rude towards other group, they had even vandalized some posters... So other fandoms came with the black ocean kinda of to show that they aren't supporting what SNSDs fandom was doing. (I'm not saying that it was the right thing to do or that it even is true, but it was like the biggest black ocean I heard about).

It’s surprising how the groups that experienced black ocean are now the most successful all I can say is “amazing”

I remember when SNSD debuted and they performed in a high school where there was a prank and the students had to act unenthusiastic. The girls were close to having anxiety attacks and breaking down in tears (which they did after it was revealed to be a prank) so imagining how they felt during this black ocean is really sad to think about.

By turning the lights down the haters were hiding their shocked and frightened faces cause the monster rookies , bulletproof boys and powerful girls shook them.

I just want to say seventeen have come a long way. They came from a broke small company which also known for its bad management but despite all of that, bcs of their incredible talents and endless passion and hard works, they managed to win 3 rookie of the year trophies with good album sales during that year among other groups who debuted around the same year as them. They're also the very first group/artists under pledis got invited to MAMA. They only get to perform ONE song (Adore U) at the red carpet and another one song (Mansae) at the main stage but it's a joined stage with Monsta x (MONTEEN 💗). They might not have the brightest ocean of audiences during their performance at MAMA that time but being the rookie group they were, they stole the show that night with a fun musical performance and collab stage with their besties. And look at them now, being one of the most successful and popular kpop groups in the industry with the brightest and prettiest lightsticks 💗💙.

Remembering SNSD black oceans hurts, their performance is still full of energy for the whole 10 minutes even though fans turned off their light sticks and even chant other groups name the whole performance considering the fact that they're still a rookie at that time💔

Nobody really knew why but the only most reasonable reason why they started black ocean during their 10 minutes performance was that the other fandoms, ELF(Super Junior fans) and Cassiopeia (DBSK fans) made a plan to boycott SNSD because there were many people who disliked the closeness between SNSD and their idols. And additional to that, the tension between Sone (SNSD Fans) and ELF already occured at that time because they fought for the best seats at the stadium. That's the first and there are also other 3 accusations :

1. Sone tore the banner of ELF - It was explained by the Dream Concert committee that the banner was moved by them and that there was no torn banner, it was moved to help other audience members who didn't get a seat. 2. Sone did a beating and stabbing to ELF and Cassiopeia - The security and committee didn't intervene if this action really occured, like wouldn't it be weird if they did not intervene when there's a beating and stabbing that's happening? And if that action really occured, there would be a headline in the television or any other media, but in this case, there was no news at all. 3. Sone raped members of ELF and Cassiopeia - This one is really weird, it doesn't make sense, could multiple rape happen to people when there are 44, 000 spectators? And much more so, SNSD is still a rookie, making their fandom a rookie as well and their fans only had a few members while ELF and Cassiopeia are the biggest fandom in Korea and had tens of thousands members. It just seems so impossible that Sone could have done this. Shortly after those allegations stated above, one of the two fandoms incited others to participate in the black ocean and silent protest of SNSD.

Now seventeen has the brightest light stick... products of working hard..and being humble ❤️❤️

I recently went to mama2022 and i feel happy that fans from other groups didnt turn off their lightsticks, it was beautiful to see different colors but armys still ruled. most of us kept our lightsticks on, (i just switched off mine during breaks and when hosts were talking 😄 the crowd was nice

In 2008's dream concert, all big three bg fandoms boycotted SNSD's performance and shouted other girl groups name for 10 MINUTES because SNSD members were close with their oppas! After that SNSD went on a hiatus and came back with GEE. I don't really understand why you wanna destroy someones dream? BUT look at these groups now. They're all successful and making history

My light stick would shine for every single group and idol if I had one 😌

Fandoms doing this for rookie groups LITERALLY have no heart it's the worst to feel hated, unappreciated in the beginning of ur career. THOUGH I'm NOT saying it's OK to do it to non rookies ,but at least they are more professional to handle it

Now look at them they make it a beautiful ocean glad to be an ARMY and CARAT

And now look at all of them. So proud of them especially Seventeen, they were just a rookie group at that time too

This is the most disrespectful thing a fan can do to an artist

After all these black oceans they gave a savage comeback to the haters I'm proud of all these groups and I'm proud of my self that I Stan them.... their victory doesn't make them only happy but to everyone who supported them and it makes me happy not coz they won but bcoz their efforts have been rewarded

and the fact that seventeen is literally dominating the world now🥺❤️👏

SNSD still the most have tragic black ocean till this day. Even the audience keep calling out other groups name while they're performing. Its literally not just black ocean.

True, it was tragic because that black ocean literally gave by ELF Suju's fandom who got jealous by their interaction with SNSD. Compare to Wonderful x Hottest good relationship, ELF really boycotted SNSD, and i remember this is the start of SONE support when SNSD collab with 2PM, sone just don't want anything to do with ELF

@@Ms1stprime it's not only Elf, but also Cassie and Triple S as the three biggest fandom that time.... Not to mention some of them actually helped Kara in the afternoon, they hold the peach ballon when Kara performed... And then Black Ocean for SNSD... I feel ashamed everytime someone mention it...

And look at them now, all lights are flashing, every light that wishes to be noticed are the lights that these groups wishes to see during those times. I cannot be even more proud to stand these groups. ❤

For people who don't know what a black ocean is, it's when a band performs and their is barely any lightsticks (light to show support) in the audience or crowd.

Most tragic is SNSD, and now they became legend and the best girlgroup all of the time

*in the twice black ocean, some army's lit up there army bombs for twice 🥺*

Remembered me of SNSD's black ocean such a traumatic experience, the girls were cry a lot so u can see their pain.. black ocean turn into pink ocean, miss u ot9 🌸💗🌷

It shows how successful they are now. I am proud being an Army and Carats at the same time. They deserve the world.

The fact that after experiencing black ocean once, they never looked back and slowly started getting more famous. This is why hardwork and success scream louder than words. They will get beautiful colorful ocean forever 💜

The way armies but there lightsticks on for Twice and Once’s put their lightstick on for BTS is like so cute and nice

BUT now look at them. Breaking records left and right. They are making and selling all their great songs. I'm an ARMY but will always stand up for all idols. I Really respect all the idols and their hard work. You are doing well. And we will do well to keep it that way 💜💕😘
