(Sorry if my English isn’t amazing!) I leaned against my lock talking to Chaeryeong as the most popular guy in school, Mingi, passed by us with his friends. “I heard he was asking Lisa to prom on today” she said. “I doubt it” I shrugged. My other (best)friend, Han, passed by too. I grabbed my bag from my locker and slung it over my shoulder, slamming the locker shut. “I still can’t believe Lee Know got elected class president” She rolled her eyes. “You’re still made over that breakup?” I asked as we began to walk towards the parking lot outside. “I mean, yeah. He cheated on me twice” she said, digging for her car keys in her purse. “That was 3 years ago when we were Freshman” I groaned “We are Juniors now” I shrugged as we climbed into her car. We began the drive back to her house. I dug through my backpack searching for my car charger. A note slipped out and fell to my feet. I examined the hearts plastered all over the note. “What the hell-“ I said as I picked up. “Hmm?” Chaeryeong said, her eyes focused on the road. “Some weird note” I said. It said something about a secret admirer. That’s when I noticed the envelopes and notes and dumped inside the front pocket of my backpack. Apparently yours truly has had a secret admirer (Soobin) for…MONTHS. Tens of notes were dumped onto the floor of Chaeryeong’s car when I got done with them. We arrived at Chaeryeong’s house Thursday afternoon around 4. I was staying the night so I grabbed my pillow out from the backseat and we headed inside. “Soooo….” She smirked “Who do you like?” She giggled as she booted up her PS5. “I don’t have one” I said. My face turned beet red and I smiled a bit thinking of him. She looked at me laughing “It’s Hyunjin isn’t it” she laughed. “SHUT UP” I giggled, my feet kicking back and forth from the thought of him. “I knew it” “How?” I replied “You always ask Han to bring him along when us three are hanging out” she said. “…..touché” We had her mom’s AMAZING jjigae for dinner and went to bed shortly after. I woke up the next morning and got dressed in a casual outfit of a cropped white tank and some baggy jeans. Sneakers and some silver jewelry. We drove over to the school. I held my black backpack on one shoulder and walked through the big glass doors with Chaeryeong. “No way she said tha…” I laughed but my voice faded as I took notice of WooYoung standing at me with a giant sign which read: “Roses are red, violets are blue, will you go to prom with me…Klara Yoo?” My face turned red and Chaeryeong’s face looked a bit sad. She liked him I knew it. But he was so handsomeeee. “I….no” I choked out the words and Chaeryeong’s face immediately was relieved. He nodded and shook my hand, not mad but accepting. I nodded and me and Chaeryeong headed to advisory. “Thanks” she smiled “You know how painful it is to turn down a super good-looking, nice and popular guy?” I laughed a bit painfully. She laughed in response. I sat in 7th period knowing I had no date to prom. I kicked my feet and my best friend Han nudged me. “Do you want to go to prom together tonight?” He whispered. “As friends?” I mumbled back. His face looked a little disappointed. He shrugged “I don’t know.” I gave him a quick eyebrow raise and clicked my pen. I resumed my work “Sure…” Knowing Han and knowing the look he had on his face he DEFINITELY thought he was my date to prom. Me, Lisa(BP), Jennie(BP), Chaeryeong (ITZY), Yeji (ITZY), Dajeong (PIXY) and Chae-won (LSF) all drove to Lisa’s house to get ready for tonight. We all sat on her bedroom floor doing our makeup and hair, curling and straightening irons plugged into nearby walls. Finally we did the dresses. Yeji revealed her deep red silky dress. Chaeryeong had a pretty lilac one. Jennie and Lisa had sparkly white dresses. Dajeong had a bright sage green dress. I had a silk black dress ( www.pinterest.com/pin/31384528646715388/ ). I finished curling my hair and putting on some jewelry and we all drove to the school at around 6:30. We arrived at 6:50, even though the dance had started 15 minutes prior. We walked into the dance and I immediately noticed Hyunjin dancing with Wonyoung. I rolled my eyes and his best friend Felix walked up to me. “Would you like to dance with me?” He held out his hand. I had to admit, his accent was rather charming. I grabbed his hand “Sure” I could feel Han’s eyes on us the whole time as we danced. I kinda felt bad for friend zoning him. Did I? Yeah- wait no. I mean. Yes. I did feel bad. Anyways. I noticed when I.N was helping serve food he always got super shy when I walked by. Why was it always the ones I didn’t have particular interest in. On a great note, I saw Chaeryeong and WooYoung dancing which made a wide smile spread across my face. I walked over to the drink area. “Just water please” I smiled. Changbin spun the cup around his hand and poured the water like he was a bartender. I gave a confused look. Why was he putting so much effort into this, I’m thirsty…I just want my water 😭. He slid me the cup of water, most of it had spilled out “What a performance…” I muttered and grabbed the near empty cup from the table, gulping down what was left. The slow dance portion occurred and I was left standing there when Hyunjin walked up to me. “Do you wanna slow dance with me?” He said. My eyes widened and my jaw dropped. “Is that a n-“ he said “YES” I cut him off “Er-I-I- uh-I mean…sure?” I contained my excitement as we danced. Shortly after the dance ended he walked up to me again. “I gotta grab something from my car…do you wanna come with me?” “Sure” I nodded. He grabbed my hand and led me outside. He grabbed my waist as we walked. He grabbed a charger from his car and when he turned around he stood close to me. I looked up at him. He grabbed my chin and smiled. He gave me a quick peck and walked off. I looked to my left to see Han standing in Awe, obviously heartbroken. I nervously laughed and waved before scampering back inside. Everyone took a seat as the prom king and queen were announced. “The King is….Mingi!” The speaker blared. I groaned and Lisa rolled her eyes. “Of course” Chae-won spat. Jennie was happy, of course. Anyone would if their boyfriend was crowned prom king. “And the queen is…Jennie Kim!” Jennie smiled and headed up on the stage as people clapped. I ended up third wheeling with WooYoung and Chaeryeong the rest of the night. Lisa dropped me off at my house. I ran to my room and slumped over onto the bed. I took off the black sparkly heels and my aching feet felt a sort of relief. I took out the little silver earrings and removed my bracelets and rings. I wiped off my makeup and I changed into shorts and a baggy tee. I tucked myself in and closed my eyes. My phone buzzed and I picked it up off my nightstand. An unknown number had texted me. Me: Who’s this? H: Hyunjin Me: Ohhh, how’s you get my number? H: Han Me: Oh mk, I’m gonna head to bed it’s like 12am H: wait Me: ? H: I really liked you tn Me: oh. Same H: I was wondering if you’d maybe like to possibly be my girlfriend Me: movin a little fast…maybe I a month or two :)
