I still remember when my mom signed me up for an audition at JYPE. I didn’t even know until my first day of training. I was 10…10 years old and already overworked. Thinking back it’s a dream come true to people but my childhood was wasted. It’s been 3 years since then though, almost 4 now that I think about it. I’m debuting in a few days, on my birthday. The other 4 members of my group sat on the couch and I walked over to sit with them. “Hey, why is there a couch in the practice room?”, one of the girls looked at me “Oh, hi Abby. Didn’t you hear? We’re getting our positions officially declared as well as the concept. “Cool” I said. About 10 minutes later, our manager Kang Daniel walked in. “Hey so let’s get to the point. Our concept has been determined as this kind of badass female group” he skipped a few papers on his clipboard and began to tell us our official positions. Main rapper (Lea), check, lead vocalist(Eun-ji), main vocalist(Mina), check, main dancer(Young-Hee)check. He pointed at me “And you are..hmm” he flipped a page “oh, visual” he gave a quick fake smile and quickly rushed out of the room. All of the girls seemed so happy, then there was me. They had all trained for just a few months, and I had trained 3 grueling years just to sit there and look pretty. Boombayah was our debut song, I was so excited to hear the lines I was supposed to get, just to get them ripped away from me. I had worked so hard just to earn so little. The next day, as we got ready for our debut we got on our outfits. I was given this collared shirt and tie as well as tights and a black skirt(outfit #1). The other girls in my group ranged from 22-25, so the biggest age gap was 9 years…woah. Lea walked over to me “Why so sad, virus?”. Believe it or not virus was a good thing. My role had always been ‘Happy virus’, since I was always making everyone happy and setting a good vibe whenever I walked in the room. “Oh just…nervous I guess” I lied. “Oh, yeah. Well don’t be” she smiled and went to get her makeup finished. As we walked out onto stage the bright light blurred the faces of the people. Not too many people were there so the burden was off my shoulders. After the debut concert we went back to our room to rest. Just a few weeks later my company had agreed to sign me to a contract as a host along with…JISOO. Now you may think, oh yeah cool, but bp was my idol. They are my idols. No doubt my company did this to raise our popularity as my contract was just for a week or so. Over that week however, our debut song had blown up with over 250 million views. This was crazy. Just after debut, me and my group were famous. But with that came hate. Everyone was saying that for being the visual of the group, I should be skinnier, as well as prettier and my hair shouldn’t be black and I should try harder and wear better outfits since all eyes should be on me. Over all that pressure and being called fat, I stopped eating. Not entire but so much so that you could see my bones in some areas. After a year or so we had released our first full album, since we had a break for about 7 months the others took up different things in the entertainment industry. Hosting, making solo songs, producing music and modeling. I was taking on a lead role in an upcoming K-drama. I showed up to the first line rehearsal to see Jennie, yes THE Jennie from bp. “Oh hi!” I walked over to her. We made small talk till schedules were handed out and we parted ways. Over the next months of shooting, me and Jennie had become some of the closest friends you’ve ever seen. Because of my connections, Kang Daniel was able to set up a concert with Blackpink’s Lisa. We were doing a cover of their song Ddu-Du Ddu-Du. And for the first time ever, I got to dance and sing and rap, all while next to my biggest idol ever. Over the next few months we grew in popularity, yet my line distribution was still quite nonexistent. Though after all that my eating habits had gotten better, It was only 5 pounds gained but it meant the world to all of my groups fans. One morning I met at the dance studio with the others in our group. Our manager walked in, followed by 8 guys. It was 7 am, I could not deal with-Kang shouted “Everyone welcome…Stray kids!” Everyone got super excited. I sat on that same old couch. I was distracted by the growling of my stomach. “You guys will be collaborating with them on a new song”. Over the next few months we worked on finishing the album as well as perfecting our collab song with SKZ. After the album released and I had turned 18, my group started to post a lot on TikTok. I did a collab with Momo, from twice. I saw a video about a dude named Eric being a fan of our music but I brushed it of since I wasn’t the biggest fan of their group. However, I had recently gone to a BTS concert and I had developed the biggest crush on V. Like no joke. Recently Hyunjin had been contacting me a lot though, I assumed he had a crush on me. I had listened to one song by Treasure in my limo along with Jennie and everyone began to ship me with Yoshi. A few weeks later, after the ship spike had died down, I was walking to a cafe with Eun-ji and Mina when I heard people screaming and yelling just down the street. “Oh my goooood!” I heard a girl squeal and I heard bodyguards yelling to back away and stop shoving others. I sat down inside the cafe as some of the paparazzi that had followed us couldn’t enter. Mina closed the blinds to the window next to us so they couldn’t see us eating a such. That’s when two boys scampered into the cafe. A body guard closed the door. I heard more screaming from outside. The cafe was full, the only seating that was open being outside. They stood there before a waiter spoke “Sorry man but if you guys wanna stay in here you have to get a table and order. Their eyes widened and they sat with us. “Uh who are you?” I asked. Eun-ji looked at one of the guys’ hair “Jungkoo-“ she tipped down the other dudes sunglasses “V!”. “Sorry but we can’t go back out there, we love our fans but since we got to the airport we have been chased down.”. We all chatted for a while, I even exchanged numbers with V. Over the next week we hung out a lot, me and V. I know he was a crush of mine but that was the past, now we are just good friends. Though since we hung out so much dating rumors started. Some people loved the thought of us dating and some said I wasn’t famous enough for him. Though no matter that they were…right. I had started dating V just two days before the rumors started. Me and the girls had been invited to a huge award ceremony. Many celebrities were there, from actors to other K-pop idols. After many awards were handed out, my group was given an award for fastest growing female group. When we thought they were over my name was called and I was given an award (#5) for actor of the year or something like that. That brings us to now. Im not sure how long my group will last (spoiler alert: 20 years more :D), but I hope it lasts a while, as well as my relationship with V.

(Members: Milli, Yunji, Yeona, Hana, Clara(me) FINALLY. After 3 long years of training..I was finally going to debut. Along with the other 4 girls in our upcoming group. We all had one goal, to debut under JYPE, and now that’s what we were gonna do. Our manager, Kang Daniel, pulled us from our dance practice into the office room next door own the hall. We all sat down in the many chairs along the table. “So what’s this about?” Yeona asked. Our manager smiled “We’ll be finalizing, for the most part, your official positions!” He exclaimed. We all nodded, eager. I wasn’t too worried, I knew my vocals and dancing were a bit more advanced than the others in my group, even though I was the youngest. Our manager listed them off “Yeona you’ll be getting main vocal” He said as he dismissed her back to the practice. “Milli you’ll be our main dancer” He checked off something on his clipboard. “Yunjin….” He scanned his paper “You’ll be taking the role of main rapper, and Hana you’ll take lead vocal and sub rapper!” He exclaimed. Everyone left the room, dismissed, until it was just me and the manager. “Clara…” he paused, looking around his papers “Oh! Of course. Last but definitely not least…” he paused and I tripped the edge of my seat in anticipation. “Visual!” He said. My eyes widened but I smiled despite the slight pain. “Wh-what did you say?” I said, still smiling and bright-eyed. “Visual” he said again “You are dismissed”. He waved me out of the room and the girls all ran up to me “What did you get?!” Milli clapped excitedly. “Uh-bit of everything” I shrugged. I hid the disappointment till the end of practice. “Are you exited.” Hana walked up to me smiling. “About what?” I looked up from shoving things in my bag. “Your birthday! You’re turning 17 in like…” she thought for a second “Oh! A week” she hugged me tight. Most of the girls in my group were 19, except for Hana, being only 17 herself and Yeona who was around 22. A day later we began recording the vocals for our debut song, “In the Morning”. I was lucky to receive any lines, even though mine was just…”Ring ding-ding ding-ding-ding”. Our manager had spoken with JYP, and in an attempt to shift my status from just a pretty face and perfect body to something more, by arranging a MC with BlackPink’s one and only Jisoo. That was one of the few times I found myself smiling and laughing genuinely on a stage. As I sat backstage with Jisoo, getting a touch up we engaged in conversation. “So…did you want to take on the role of visual?” She asked sweetly as her face was poked and prodded with brushes and sponges. “I…” I fell silent as a lady pressed eyeliner into my skin, someone’s finger layering glitter on my eyelid. Her fame effected me a bit, since we hung out so much paparazzi often saw us together and I gained much popularity from it. My manager arranged a special stage with Jungkook, which blew my mind. We collaborated each other’s songs on stage together. After the performance we did a Q&A on stage together. “Should we film a video, dance challenge maybe?” Jungkook spoke into the microphone.the crowd roared and obvious yes. We filmed a dance challenge, dancing to his new song “3d”. Posting it to his and my TikTok, as well as my groups TikTok. Gaining so much popularity, our entire group managed to get a collab with Stray kids “Queencard, I’m hot.. da da hmm huh huh”I hummed a song. Hyunjin giggled at Changbin as we sat in the recording studio. “What’s that about?” I looked up from my phone, Bang Chan ordering Hana on the lyrics. “He’s got quite the history with that song” Hyunjin chuckled. This led me and Hyunjin into conversation. And I have to admit, his personality was so kind and funny. His looks played a part too, but I developed a bit of a crush on him. The chemistry was obviously there, thought the weeks we worked on the song. We both liked each other, I could tell. The press was obviously still shipping me with Yoshi, even though behind the scenes footage was found with me and Hyunjin laughing in conversation in the background. In between MV shooting, I went to a cafe with my manager to pickup food and coffee for the two groups, film crew and ourselves. As we walked out of the cafe camera flashed on us. “Is this your new love?!” A man yelled, “A new office romance?” A woman screamed. I tried to shoot down accusations before we got back to the limo, yet the press was insisting on dating rumors between me and Kang Daniel. Hating to admit the truth. In reality I was dating someone, yet don’t know how nobody figured it out. I was and still dating Bang Chan. Our group won song of the year, receiving a glass trophy. (Group disbands after 20 years)

I was sitting in my bedroom, looking at my emails on my computer. My heart stopped. 4 new emails from each of the companies that I had auditioned for. I also had auditioned for HYBE, but I was eliminated in the second round. I took a deep breath, and clicked on the first one that had appeared. It read: "Dear Jiwon Lee: Thank you for auditioning for JYPE entertainment. Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have passed all three rounds of auditions, and ask if you could join us by joining our new girl group, Sev-In! If you would like to continue your journey with us and become a trainee, please sign the form below." I froze. I got in! JYPE was the main company that I wanted to get into! I jumped up and down with joy, almost falling out of my chair. My family came in. "What, what?" "I got in!!!!!" I screamed. Yes!! I checked the other 3 emails, which were from SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and Cube entertainment. I hadn't made it into SM, but I made YG and Cube! I was so proud of myself. Though I knew my number one choice would be JYPE. "Im so proud of you honey!" My mom and dad said to me. "Good job, now I don't have to see your ugly face anymore!" My brother said, laughing. I frowned. "Seriously? That's all you have to say for me?" "Just kidding sis. Congrats!" --FIRST DAY AS TRAINEE-- I walked through the tall glass doors with my mom, feeling super nervous. We walked to the front desk, where a very elegant looking woman stood. "Welcome to JYPE entertainment. How may I assist you today?" I explained that I was a new trainee to debut, and she nodded and asked for my name. After filling in what seemed like stacks of papers, she printed and handed me a lanyard with my photo and name. "This card grants you all abilities in this building a trainee needs. Good luck!" She smiled as we said thank you and walked to the elevators. Right when the doors were about to close, a tall man came running to make it to the elevator. He said thank you and rushed to clean himself up, with beads of sweat on his forehead and stacks of papers. "Can I help you carry anything?" I asked. "Oh can you? Thanks!" He said with relief rushing through his face, and handed me a stack. He studied my face and then looked really surprised. "Wait, are you Jiwon Lee by any chance?" "Um, actually yes." I said awkwardly and my mom and I looked at each other confused. "Oh, well let me properly introduce myself." He bowed and said, "Hello, I am Oh Sehun, a member of EXO, and also the manager for Sev-in." I stared in shock, and bowed. "Hello, I am Jiwon Lee, and new trainee for Sev-In." Just then, the elevator doors opened. "I'll show you to your practice room and give an introduction to the rest of the group." He said. --IN THE PRACTICE ROOM-- After all the members had arrived, I said goodbye to my mom and walked up to everyone else. We stood in straight line and practiced our solo and group introductions. There would be seven members in our group: Me, A tall and shy girl named Haneul, a strong looking girl named Hye Jin, a very pretty girl named Bora, a set of twins named Hae-Joo and Hae-Won, and a loud girl named Ye-Ji. After, Sehun came in with a clipboard, and said, "Now, I will be announcing each of your roles: Listen carefully." He cleared his throat and said, "Haneul-visual, Hye jin, leader and songwriter, Ye-Ji, Main rapper, Bora, face of the group, Hae-Joo, Main dancer, Hae-won, main vocal, ---(pause) and, Ji-won, maknae and dancer. Oh, and your group's concept is Badass." He smiled, and left the room. There was a whispers of oohs and aahs, and I was satisfied, but I felt really bad for Haneul and Bora. They looked really sad because they were only assigned visuals. If there's one thing I hate about K-pop, it's the lack of balance between members. We all started talking, and everyone cheered up Haneul and Bora. I asked them all how long they had been trainees for. Haneul has been training for a 4 months, Hye jin, 5 years, Bora, 7 months, Hae joo, 3 years, Hae won, 2 1/2 years, and Ye ji, 1 year. When I told them it was my first day, they all gasped. "Seriously? Do you know when we debut, Jiwon?" I looked at them confused. "In two days," Hye jin said, very serious. My heart dropped. How could I debut in two days? I was 17, the maknae. We all left the room and I sulked behind them. --FEW HOURS BEFORE DEBUT-- We had just finished rehearsal of our debut song, Wa Da Da by Kep1er. I was super worn out and stressed, because I kept on messing up the ending of the song, and by the looks of everyone else, they were too. "It's okay, Jiwon, we can do it!" They all said. We practiced our introduction, "4 and 3, we are Sev-In!) (sorry if its cringy) We changed into our debut outfits, and I was given a black blazer and skirt with tights and a tie. (#1) We all hugged and took a deep breath as we walked onto the stage. We said our intro and started our song. Surprisingly, there was a lot of people there, which stressed me out even more. Everything was going good, until I realized my attachment to my mic had fallen off. Though, in my moments of distress, Hye Jin, being the best leader she is, helped me attach it back on quickly. We ended the song great, and I was so relieved. Hyejin smiled at me, and I nodded, thanking her for her acts of kindness. --AT THE GROUP HOUSE-- We had arrived after hours at night driving to the place where we would all live- The Sev-In house! I looked outside the van window to see a large old but modern looking house. Everyone was gaping while we all walked in. We were assigned roommates, and I would be in a room with Hye jin and Hae won. After about 5 days, we were doing singing drills while everyone else came bursting into our room. "Guys look at this! Our debut is a hit! It's got 500 million views!" HaeJoo jumped up and down, screaming. " Everyone in the comments is admiring Jiwon and Hyejin for sorting the microphone problem!" Haneul and Bora exclaimed. We were all smiling, and we celebrated with a big feast. --A MONTH LATER-- Everyone was now familiar with each other, and I even earned a nickname: the dad 🥸🥸(lol) , because of my protective personality with all of the other members, even though I was the maknae. But, I had begun to face hate with other fans of other groups saying things like, "Why did Jiwon even want to become an idol at 17? That's too young, she also isn't even experienced or talented enough." Or things like, "She looks too old to be 17, she should take care of herself better, and look her age." I felt so bad about myself that I started dieting and losing tons of weight and even was debating to get plastic surgery. But, everyone in my group encouraged me to stay the way I was, and I was truly grateful. Whats even better, is that I recieved an offer to MC with I.N from SKZ! My manager said it would be a good opportunity for me because it would boost popularity and me and I.N were both maknaes. I had a great time MCing with him, and after that, I started getting offers for sponsors and modeling jobs. I loved modeling so much that it became a hobby of mine! Through these activities I gained allies like Seeun from Stayc! I also went to perform on stage solo with Jungkook from BTS and did dance challenges with my favorite idols like Karina from Aespa! --GROUP Opportunities-- My group had been offered to collab on a single song with the group Enhypen, and we gained even more popularity with that. We spent a lot of time working together with them, and all became strong friends with them. The song was an absolute hit, and we were ecstatic! We were even told that in a group interview, Hoshi from Seventeen mentioned us, and said that he was a huge fan of us. After that, I started watching more videos and listening to more songs that they had released. I became a true fan of their group too, and developed a crush on Joshua from Seventeen. What's even more, is that at a rewards ceremony, Hyunjin from Stray Kids stopped me and we had a long conversation together about debut and he gave me tips on idol life. I might have grown a suspicion that he might have a small crush on me. :] --LOVE LIFE-- After a few months of debut, the hate had died down and my group was having tons of fun producing music and collaborations with other groups. I even heard that I was being shipped with Yeonjun from TXT after an awards ceremony where we had had mulitple interactions with each other. (MADE EYE CONTACT FOR 0.0001 OF a sEcoND) What's worse is that there was an article released about photos of me and Bts Taehyung that were leaked, and there were tons of rumors spread all about for months. But, I actually was and am dating Bangchan from SKZ. --AFTER-- We finally won a crazy award from The Show Choice, for the Best Girl Group of the year, so I hope Sev-In continues for a while.
