The most underrated actor of all time, in my book. Smart man, too.

On Law & Order, Detective Goren's slow descent into insanity was fucking brilliant. It was like a slow-burn version of "Private Pyle" on Full Metal Jacket.
Why didn't this man get an Oscar for that Pooh Bear role in The Salton Sea. He fuckin killed that role.
*Quite simply one of the best Actors of my generation!Breathing new life to the detective character on a t.v format !*
One of the greatest actors of this generation.
Every interview is spectacular in this series, but to capture that Kubrick story the way Vincent tells it is transcendent.
I like Jeff goldblum and Christopher both, but no one could replace bobby Goren No one. He was great.

@Scott Andy DAMN IT REALLY WORKED :O I literally hacked my IG login after ~ 45 minutes of using the site. Had to pay 15 $ but definitely worth it :O Thank you so much, you saved my account :D
Extremely talented actor. Don't see enough of him.
Big D'Onofrio fan ... !!! My son and wife say I look a lot like him ... Vincent ... the Manchu looks great!! Goren is definitely one of the all time best TV characters ... and to have worked with one of the greatest directors ... WOW ...
I still get chills when D'Onofrio tells his Kubrick story and gets to the part where Kubrick said to him, "It has to be big. It has to be Lon Chaney big." A moment of synchronicity for Vincent! Jack Lemmon used to say before filming a scene, " It's magic time! " This story is magical.
Fantastic conversation. Just love Vincent and his performance in L&O. Kevin does a great job. Hope to see more of these guys in future ❤👍🇧🇻
I friggin love VDO! He is great in everything and a humble, down to earth sort.
Even as The Bug's Skin Suit in Men in Black, Vincent was astonishing. What a talent
one of my favorite actors...after hearing his Lon Chaney story just confirmed it.
1st time viewer of this channel... excellent interview. Kevin and Vincent both awesome, love the shorthand and experience and understanding they each hv as they travel thru this encounter. Love the zen, humor, the stories - even the editing was very good.
Amazing and outstanding actor and person!
Great episode!
He was so good in El Camino Christmas. Great actor not talked about enough!
Such a great actor.
So glad Kevin got him to talk about Salton Sea. Really, really underrated movie.

Yes! Great film.
Buddy has a stacked resume... Nice to see a little tidbit on Salton Sea. Great casting for The Kingpin.
I have always admired D'Onofrio's acting. He displays a certain unorthodox subtext in his roles that is appealing. I enjoyed the film, Happy Accidents, in which he costarred with Marisa Tomei. His comedic turn as Edgar in ' Men in Black ' was a joy to see and as Goren in ' Law and Order, ' his devolution was fascinating to watch.
Vincent D'Onofrio is a Cool actor! 👍😎
I am halfway through and loving it, as all of them...but I hope Full Metal Jacket is covered!
you deserve more views!
Ator fantástico e maravilhoso. Vincentd'onofrio e eu o amo muito
People forget he was in a movie called Adventures in Babysitting!

Per "Lon Chaney big" incident: Great artists have extreme sensitivity and powerful ESP.
Great interview, but I can't believe there was no mention of Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

I see Vincent as a younger Brian Dennehy... Anyone?

D'Onofrio is already 60, it's not like he can play a much younger Dennehy at this point.
I know an actor is good when they disappear into the part. Mr. D'onofrio is that good. I know who he is and I have known who he is since playing "Pyle" in FMJ which was indeed a star-turn role for him. When I see him I am always intrigued with his character. But I rarely recognize him. He is a chameleon, but not like Sean Penn is who can play extremely different characters very well, but you always recognize it to be Sean Penn. With VD, most of the time I get intrigued with the character and then I realize it is VD. Not the other way around. That is what I mean about disappearing into a part. Perfect example is his role in Magnificent 7. By the end of the film I still didn't realize that was VD.
Fear the beard, I loved his work in everything from Law and Order to the magnificent 7 remake, but he IS Wilson Fisk
The LAOCI episode's with Nicole Wallace / Elizabeth Hitchens (Olivia d'Abo) are absolutely astounding.
You need to introduce VDO to a guest of a few episodes prior in Craig Ferguson. Two of my favorite people, yet two entirely different personalities. Yet both extremely thoughtful in there own way. I just think an interview with such contrasting demeanors would be fascinating!
Awesome chat! Great fucking stories. Much respect.
Troulley the Mouse. A legend in his own time. Same as VD'O

There is no way to have a 8:43 here so I'm confused by your post. This video has no 8:43.
Kevin is right Vincent's turn as a bug alien in a human epidermis is what made MiB for me. I remember telling myself now that right there is a bad guy right who really doesn't want to be here on earth. He'll totally murder everyone if you say the wrong thing to him. That's how much I forgot there was an actor in that skin. I really feared for J and K's life.
Should've mentioned him as kingpin in the Netflix daredevil series.
KPCS: Norm Macdonald?
Late Bloomer??? Die Herbseitslosen? One of my faves. Should have been the swiss entry for oscar when it came out some years back. Some kind of politics got in the way. Such a great film, the big from the small......
Is that Kevin Pollak from "AVALON" (Barry Levinson's masterpiece on B'more)? Wow. Detective Goren, yes, and loved sidekick Eames' "one-liners" -- though now defunct L&O:CI, someone should really bring back their duo as "Goren & Eames" -- I would watch for Eternity :-)
Still pissed he didnt win an oscar for MiB. Yes I know, Braveheart. 🙄 Anyway he should get one on principal damnit! Love your work Vincent, you're fukn brilliant!

Braveheart was 95. mib was 97
Imagine Vincent in a Tony soprano type role..he's that type of actor..like a James gandolfini..needs that role to fuck shit up
He could be brothers with Ray Liota. At least the way he looks here.

The past.
I want to see Vince play a nice, married, over-the-road truck driver who kills hookers as he drives across the country doing his job - the handlebar mustache is the perfect visual for his character
From 9:12 to 10:20 I am totally lost as to what they are all talking about. It starts off with Kevin Pollock stating that he's been dining on a particular story that Vincent D'Onofrio told him. I am totally in the dark of what they are all laughing about. Can someone please explain this? I've rewound this section several times and I just can't understand what they are saying. "Lucky we caught it on the first day." Don't get any of this. It's frustrating when there's an inside joke. Thanks for the help.
Leave it to comments- from most underrated to one of the greatest within 3 comments.
Private Pyle!
Speaking of Matthew Modine, I think he would be an awesome guest.

So many filler guests, it's always refreshing to see a great such as Vincent.
I call him my boy Vinny D but I never talk to him so there is that
ok, it's not the late bloomer of schweiz. BUT, please, what is that jazz theme? Checked all the brian tyler that seemed apropos and nothing comes close, except maybe havaii 5-0. I give up. So, help. be cool. thnx. youtube watcher.
Vince looks like those Roman busts/masks of the Roman god Bacchus
Skykiller is a good mistake given that Lucas had originally named Luke, Luke Starkiller. So Dax Shepard and Tim Allen are in his new movie, ew boy, I expect it to go straight to actual VHS, no need to waste a DVD.
I was more interested in his off-camera relationship with the real star of FMJ - R. Lee Ermey!
Mystic Pizza!
I had to google it...Kevin Pollack was in Steal This Movie with VDO.

I'm literally jumping out of my skin ... Ok not literally but, delighted to hear how Vincent came up with the alien/roach character in MIB. I thought it was phenomenal and was thinking how painful it would be to do it. Amazing.
We almost wished he’d have done his Larry King as The Bug...
Jamie is a cutie!
53:00 Kubrick stuff
Vinnie DEEEEE!
how does this only have 714 likes - do yourself a favor and go to 3173 seconds
Vinny likes his weed. So stoned. Hilarious.
Nicole Wallace.... hahahaha

TruthIsNeverGossip Bobby Goren was one of his greatest creations. IMO it surpassed Private Pyle in cultural impact and artistic achievement.
I guess we know where Vincent stands politically. He called Al Franken "one of my hero senators right now."
James hetfield overweighted
Love him as an actor.but dont love the way hes wearing his face
My fukkin problem? Trumps fukkin up our country, that's my problem
Love this dude's work but Al Franken as a hero? Yuck. Oh well, I will always be a fan of his professional work.

Franken showed the pomposity of O'Reilly and Limbaugh which makes him OK with me.
@MusicGunn
7 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah those 2 are pompous for sure. But they are just blowhard rightwing nuts whose fans don't listen to anything the other side says anyway. There are plenty of blowhard leftwing nuts too. I would put Franken in the leftwing portion of that. He wasn't funny as a comedian, but he is funny as a senator from the funny state of Minnesota. A hero? I'm with Steve Jonas on this one. I have a question for you, was it only until Franken declared them to be pompous, that you realized that they were?
@NondescriptMammal

Franken isn't even in the same league of blowhards as those two and you know it.
