    Man, I wish I had the money for Oz. Thank you very much for the kind comment, by the way. I think that the next video will be less of a review and more of a plea for assistance. I have a 7x50 that no one seems to know about, even the manufacturer.

    Another bino on my want list,affordable too! 👍 thank you and thanks Kowa 😄 As a specs wearer eye relief is as important as any other factor (17mm minimum for me) it seems not many folk understand this 🤷‍♂️ - It’s quite frustrating to want certain optics but put off because of short eye relief.

    So true! But sometimes it makes life simpler. Like a restaurant menu with only seven entrees to choose from instead of forty.

    I've watched a lot of your videos. Thanks for doing them. They're appreciated. But I'm now curious as to what's behind the curtain. Kansas or Oz? :)

    Love your content. I'm partially blind. I've no left vision but near perfect right vision. Binoculars are a thing for me. I'm so intrigued at seeing more. So good optics are a thing we share. I can't afford high end stuff. But I'm not buying into the marketing. Porro prisms will always be brighter for example. I know all about, exit pupil, brightness calculation etc. Just wanted to say great job on your content ♥️

    The joys of porro prisms, I have the Opticron version in 8x30 and they are fabulous.

    This model is available under several brands. I have had Leupold Yosemite 6x30 which is now discontinued, though. I want it again and will probably get a YF 6x30. As an eyeglasses wearer I, as you, also prefer 6x instead of 8x because of the eye relief. My experience of Yosemite 6x30 is the same as your description of YF 6x30. I actually owned a Swarovski SLC neu 7x42 at the same time I had the Yosemite and could compare them side by side. I can confirm about the sharpness. Yosemite 6x30 was sharper in the center than SLC 7x42. Everything else Swaro was better, though. Not surprisingly. Sweet spot size, glare handling and so on. But for the price the 6x30 was/is terrific. Supersharp budget model so light and comfortable in the hands!

    I might be supremely confident in my evaluation of any particular binocular set before me but it is nonetheless pleasant and reassuring to hear the same evaluation from others. Thank you. So, I'm not delusional after all. 😅

    @@davidlytle3974 By the way, I can tell you the story. I had the Swaro before I bought the 6x30. And it happened one day that out of curiosity I visited a wilderness store. And then found a binocular, a 6x30. I tried it and liked the long eye relief that provided full open vision with eyeglasses. And: it was SHARP. I immediately liked the lightweight and comfortable grip. After some careful quality control, I bought the very same sample I tried. It wasn't even intended to get another binocular when I entered the store just a short while earlier. A few years later, good friends of mine asked if they could buy my 6x30 as a birthday present for their little daughter. I let it happen for the sake of the good cause, because I had several other binoculars as well, so I didn't run out of binoculars. But I miss that sharp 6x30 with the steady view...

    Sir, since you're in the USA, it would be a sin not to test any of the new SE series Oberwerks everybody are raving about.

    @@davidlytle3974 I was referring to the Kowa YF II 6x30 versus the Vortex Bantam HD 6.5x32. The small form factor of both of these make for not just a child friendly bino but also an everyday/hiking/travel friendly pair. What I am intrigued about is whether the belief that for the same price a porro prism is better than a roof prism is true for these two (the Kowas are about ~$130 and the Bantams are ~100). That would decide for many of us which one to get. Really look forward to your review.

    @@davidlytle3974Yes, the Bantam HD 6.5x32. Given Vortex's stellar reputation and lifetime warranty, I wonder if they edge out Kowa's fame in making great glass.

    Ok then. I'll get right on it. However, I am going to have to exercise a great deal of bias control going into such a review. I don't hold much hope for the Bantam. I've already been slightly prejudiced against it by other people's reviews that describe it as a pint sized version of the Crossfire, " with a good warranty".

    Oh nearly forgot. BAK 4 prisms are Chinese. BaK 4 prisms are German. It's copyright stuff. I've got six pairs of binoculars. All Chinese glass. Is BaK 4 German glass better in your opinion?

  • @davidlytle3974

    @davidlytle3974

    The Chinese version is still a Barium Crown glass with a refractive index that is close enough to Schott's to do the job. I haven't been able to detect a difference though I would expect Schott to make theirs with less air bubbles. China is getting better at their game every day.
