Kove 800x Tuareg 660 Off road

Great day out with two Kove 800X's and a Tuareg 660! Weather was a little cloudy but still had a great ride! Enjoy the video!

Funny thing is, my biggest concern I have for this bike is not the fact that it's Chinese, but that it shares an engine with the KTM 790. I've ridden KTM since forever, and I suppose you can even call me a bit of a fanboy. But unfortunately all the horror stories of premature cam failure on the KTM 790/890 have totally put me off that engine format. Some say the Kove engine is totaly re-designed and different, others say it's the same. Don't know what to believe. If I had the reassurance the head was solid, I'd be very interested in a 800x.

The engine is not the same, I did a cam inspection just recently on 10 000km, it looks like new, and as you can see, I'm not very gentle with the bike, I hammer it on road! The cam is actually completely different, it's much longer than the KTM, not even interchangeable! Let's see what the future holds, but for no...I cannot complain!

Hi Nelis, amazing riding you guys are doing; I'd love to chat about the 800x Pro; I'm based in Suzhou (near Shanghai) and looking for an adv bike similar to the 800gs I had back in Cape Town. The 800x Pro looks fun! Cheers, and take care. Dane

Hi mate, awesome area down south! I honestly cannot recommend it enough! It's the best bike in its class for the price! Amazing suspension and more than enough power!

@@Nelisjvr what about compared to something like a ktm 690/701 built out to be an adv? I know the ktm is going to be more expensive, but they are lighter.

@@charierasiplease it's lighter with about 20kg, but less powerful and there are some serious engine issues with the 690, go read up about it, most people have to get a huge change before 10k km!

I'm just under 10 000 km now! So far, not one single issue, literally haven't even seen small metal shavings in the oil/filters which is a big surprise since I'm pretty hard on the bike, my Kawasaki Z900 had some minor shavings within the first 5000km (now it's on 48 000km). Anyway...I'm super happy! The bike runs even better now than the day I got it! 💪🏻

How about making the video everyone wants to see - the comparison between kove, the t7 and toureg 660, and ktm 790/890 adv R. On paper it seems like aprilia and yamaha should just shut down the assembly line for those models. I imagine the ktm is better in most areas but heavier and way more expensive, possibly still a market for that one, especiallly if ktm can figure out how to shave off some more kgs.

Well...to be honest...you cannot compare any of them with each other...especially not the Tuareg and T7... The KTM 790 S is not great off road, awful suspension...and the R is totally over priced. You cannot compare these to the 890, it's not in the same class and price. The T7 is living in the 1990's and the tuareg is super expensive and boring with mediocre suspension...you need to spend at least $2000 more to get it do a decent off road bike. In my personal experience the Kove is the best deal...you get exceptional KYB adjustable suspension, enough power to kick all 3 other options and of course...the weight cannot be compared to any of them. I would be honest and say I wish the Kove had an off road rider mode...it's almost too powerful off road in Eco mode, you need to be very careful in 1st gear with power! Once you're used to it...it's a pleasure...I'm honestly getting happier every day!

@@Nelisjvr all of that makes sense and is good to hear. I think it would be good to see a video with the opinions of the owners of each bike after riding them all…. It seems like the kove is just too good, unbelievably good. The internet is skeptical.

@@Nelisjvr also do you have any insight to why the kove 450 rally is so heavy? Its the same weight as the kove800x rally. Sure it has a few more liters of fuel but i dont get it. If they can make the 800 so light, why not make the 450 light as well?

The reality is Alex is very happy with his Tuareg, you are very happy with your kove, and I am very happy with my ktm790. So just buy what you like the most, they are all good bikes. If you buy the kove in any case you won’t be disappointed for sure.
