After the invasion of Crete, German troops were also attacked by partisans in this area and about 30 soldiers were killed. As a punitive action, these three villages were destroyed and many inhabitants were shot (1943).
The villages are Koustogerakos, Livadas and Moni.
The memory is relevant again today, as many innocent people become victims all over the world.
