Korg Trident MkI (1980) - Don Solaris demo

Музыка

All live improvisation without rehearsal or any preparation. So please forgive any playing mistakes, or noise. I took 7-8 overdubs and this is the result. NO EXTERNAL EFFECTS no compressors!!!

    this is so thick, vibrant, organic, full of sweet acid. my god. this has all of this very distinctive, precious '79--'82 kind of feel.

    I had a Mk1, a great piece of kit. Bought mine back in the 80's from a recording studio in Luton that was closing down.

    Thank you for not drowning it in effects!!! When I watch synth demos I want them dry so I can hear what the synth actually sounds like. Great synths sound great without drowning them in effects. This sounds wonderful. I just ordered one from Japan with a midi mod kit installed and I keep coming back here to listen to this while I wait.

    Thanks for the best demo of this Majestic synth. I have owned one since 1983 and with all the demos no one has yet shown its true potential with the VCF in. I used to have an MS-04 pedal that made this synth fly. Make sure you add the chd midi. With some nice outboard and ITB effects this is a truly unique synth. Thanks for sharing

    It's a very different instrument with a very different sound and capabilities. It isn't as flexible as some synths, but what it does it does beautifully!

    im constantly trying to acquire prophet 5 but every time i do.. just can't justify myself to spend such amount of money when already having trident which does everything so well, only if it has osc sync i wouldn't think about this ever again

    yes, I have both, I LOVE trident way more....I keep the prophet as its just well...a prophet! it does do some classic sounds from my 80s era which I love so much and its sound is not as obvious as an Oberheim or Roland sound so I like its more original sound also

    The Trident is the best sounding analogue poly synth ever and don't underestimate the synth section I own 2 Tridents ,you can have all the tricks in the world but in the end it comes down to what it sounds like and nothing sounds as good as the Trident endless incredible sounds if you know how to program.

    John Carpenter & Tangerine Dream called, they want their soundtrack back. hehehehe. Actually that's a joke, but also a sincere compliment. I love Tangerine Dream & John Carpenter soundtracks. Honestly, I really love your composition; it's excellent. You've done a superb job of showcasing the Trident. I wish we'd hear these type of soundtracks in modern movies. (the soundtrack to the movie "The Machine" (2013) has a vintage synth feel to it) An awesome piece like this can really set a tone/mood for a movie, or it's just great for listening to while chillin' out & relaxing. Great stuff, really great stuff. Brilliant! Please make MORE! :-)

    +Gerry No I am pretty certain that this was used extensively on Tangerine Dream's 1980 album Tangram. The brass sounds the same and the flanger on the strings sounds the same also.

    Yeah, this definitely reminded me of Tangram too lol.. though I don't think TD ever used a Trident, they did use things like the Prophet 5, Oberheim OB-X, ARP Omni, Solina, Korg PE-2000, etc. (plus external flangers and choruses) to fill pretty much the exact same roles sonically. Good news being, you can probably get a Trident for MUCH cheaper than a Prophet right now :D

    Yes, the flanger is very noisy, but if you record with a gate at -50db in the soundcard inputs ( I use an Octacapture Roland ), the noise makes part of the sound;

    Don- in response to your flanger noise question- my studio is torn apart at the moment so I can't give you a number, but I can tell you that the flanger on my MKII is LOUD. Very, very obnoxious at rest.

    Marcusmiller those are fully polyphonic synths. This is a string synth with a basic synth section.

  • @ronmazurkiewicz3331

    @ronmazurkiewicz3331

    I have to disagree the Trident is so much more than a string synth ,the synth section is 8 voice poly and sound wise if you know how to program blows everything else away it's sound is far superior.
