I played one at the local store, pretty awesome synth! Dreamy.
I looked everywhere for someone to play stranger things on prologue instead of minilogue, and the trouble was worth it

I got the 16 voice one. It combines great with my KARP Odyssey and Moog Sub37. It's always a pleasure to create with it

I've got the 8 voice and really enjoy making gorgeous presets, the only thing is the entire user section thus far is Not there... no user effects no custom occillators. this "Flagship" synth is now 6 months old and none of the custom areas are touched upon yet. that was a huge selling point for me..

When I wrote that there were no user effect or oscillators..... now there’s a good amount of custom effects and such...... I would get the sixteen voice and get all the sinevibes custom effects and oscillators... they even have a custom reverb..... or even check out dirt box synths
Blew me away with an easy access to filter control.

Wow. FIRST player I've seen in years, YEARS that's used the pitch and mod wheels correctly - with their thumb 4:45 That divet in the wheels is for the top of your thumb, or the thumb joint so you have solid control while playing. The proper playing technique for the wheels has gotten totally lost over the years and I've seen nothing but guys gently touching them with their index finger like they're scratching a record. You get much better control with the thumb bouncing back and forth.
Hey Luke! Big Fan! How many years have you been with KORG, now? Your an asset for them! I hope they know it?:)
Hello Luke ..What split programs where you using for the stranger things sound ?...Thanks for the demo
Is that bladerunner at 7:30?
So here is a strange questions perhaps: is the power supply on these things universal? 110 through to 220/240v?
Its a really nice synth with lots of features that make you turn your head but for my money the rev2 is a much richer and more advanced synth. That sampling and user waveforms are very useful. Might just get both.
@RoomAtTheTopStudio

Two years on and what do you think of the Rev2 next to a Prologue? Is it still much richer? I wanted both too but I only ended up with one
Nice I’m wondering if that sound effects sound you’re using at 5:09 is a preset ..?? Or did you build that sound yourself for the demo ..? Thank you
Is there a hold/freeze feature?
Great sounding synth but unfortunately let down by ongoing low register tuning problems.I have had to return my prologue 16 today after just 2 days use. Korg really need to get on top of this issue as it is spoiling what could be a lovely product.
I appreciate this Demo overall, but is it really necessary to point out a cutoff knob, modwheel and pitchbend for an analogue flagship synth? Pretty standard since two decades - even on romplers.
3.51 Above & Beyond - A.I ?
You can get reasonable approximations of any synth in iOS apps and VSTs, so I pick which actual hardware synths I buy based on the type of synthesis, the track record and history and reliability of the manufacturer/brand, the layout of the panel and of course THE LOOKS!! You're lyin' to yourself if you say that the way a synth looks doesn't factor into the decision of whether or not to purchase it. I based purchasing a Korg MS2000 80% on how it looked(knob layout, etc) and 20% on the sound--turns out I play IT more than my OB-6. Go figure.

I have both and both are very different poly synths. Neither is better, theres almost no overlap between them. Rev2 is a swiss army knife, can be used in many ways and you can get lost in the sound design. Prologue is fairly simple but that doesnt matter because it sounds great. You really cant go wrong with either and it should come down to character, which sound do you want to own right now?
@RoomAtTheTopStudio

@@hlg_theshepherd2873 the tuning issue was fixed ages ago. I went with the Prologue and don't regret it. I have other vintage synths in my studio and the Prologue compliments them perfectly. I think @BlackLeo comment gives a pretty accurate comparison of the two synths

PLease!!!! Make a desktop XD version with mini keyboard (like on A4 Elektron)!!!!! Make the pre filter drive variable. Plus 64 step sequencer. And make the effects easier to use. and A bit bigger screen.
Blows my mind that there is no aftertouch on a pro-keyboard like this. In my view I'd easily pay the extra, but the fact that it's not there, means I have to look for another synth :(

Its below flagship tier in reality and hence didn't receive the full entertainer tier features that the real top end instruments do. Unfortunate - but Korg isn't really known for its skill in this area, compared to other more focused brands. A price point thing primarily. It still sounds great. But for professionals, this isn't for them at all no.
@ErraticFaith
Жыл бұрын
@Rhizosphere I feel we've touched on this in the past (lol) but it's likely important to quantify what 'professional' means. In my personal case (mostly my point here) I base it on what I rig/set up on a common basis. I take this as a decent way of seeing what is 'professional' at the time, if you see what I mean. It can vary from artist to artist naturally. I see Yamaha centric artists as the real 'sample quality' crew. They really value their specific sounds. Korg on the other hand, seem to prize the versatility and diversity. Where synths like Prologue expectedly fall short. Jordan R and other players are probably a good representation of this. As well as the numerous experimental bands in Japan. For me, it made sense that I'd see more Kronos and less Prologue. And I am not touching on the unit's early faults. As I know you'll be aware of those. Prologue was pricey to produce and for its very niche purposes I believe it was more of a 'side board with too many cons' -- than any claim against what you're saying specifically. I agree with you in principle on AT. I think the notion that you 'need it desperately' flies in the face that 'professionals' are using the Nautilus and a wide variety of 'non-AT' offerings very happily. For reasons you say 'less is more' and musically -- you're right. Too much is.... too much. Lets face it, the genre spread and personal skill counts. As good as Vangelis was, I am not expecting the top Pianist at the Royal Academy to ask me about the expression in CS80 or Hydra's PolyAT. Because they won't even care or use it. Similar case with Osmose. Nice -- and it will sell like anything. But 61 keys? With a wobble gimick? Haha I of course know thats a oversimplified silly perspective but 'professionals' will be just fine with their Yamaha's from 40 years ago to be quite honest. We say things are 'so much better now' but there was nothing wrong with the Jupiter 80 (in making a good performance). I find it hard to recommend Prologue professionally because people simply don't tour them. Well they do -- but it would be a case of me seeing 1 in 6 months, vs me seeing a Kronos 2/Nautilus or (to be more synth orientated) into the realms of Novation and other familiar brands, every single week. Is prologue 'worth' a spot in what will almost certainly be a multi-board rig on stage? That for me is a no -- considering alternatives. Is it terrible? No. It's got a great profile and I enjoy watching westerners (Like MR TUNA haha) getting giddy about it. But for what it is, I'd have difficultly recommending it. Many people can't find one these days either way.
Not putting the compressor on the 8 is a real deal breaker! Made me angry enough to not buy either. And I went with the Peak. Korg made a poor decision on that. Oh and its a hardcore fingerprint magnet 🧲 👈
just play the E and F and hear it's out of tune very badly!
I see a lot about this synth being out of tune on certain keys. For korg... this is pretty bad, for an industry giant to not be able to make a stable analog synth in 2018...

Shame it’s two grand, I’m looking into saving up for a minilogue instead. Anyway it does seem to go out of tune but I haven’t experienced it very severely or very often. It may be different from unit to unit as far as I can tell.
