True story: This man also fought in the infamous battle of Thermopylae and was later captured by the Persians. He also partook in all the Punic wars and marched alongside Hannibal only to be captured by Scipio and made into a centurion. During the Napoleonic wars he helped conquer Europe alongside Napoleon but ended up being captured by the British army. Fast forward a few years later this man fought in the battle of Gettysburg but was later captured by union soldiers and was one of the first asian men to earn the Medal of Honor after he helped to overthrow the confederacy. Legend says that he enlisted in the Iraqi army in 2013 and has currently been captured by ISIS, lord only knows what they'll do to him.

That guy lived out the rest of his life in Chicago near Illinois State University where he died back in 1995. No one knew anything of his past until one of his war buddies came looking for him after his funeral. Even his wife and family knew nothing about his past until after he was gone

Many people forget or don't know that both the SS and Wehrmacht used foreign volunteers and conscripts to fight in their ranks. Some examples include the Kuban Cossacks, Don Cossacks, the 33rd "Charlemagne" SS, the Estonian 20th Waffen Grenadier Division and they also called mscripted people of color such as the Turkmenistan Legion, Frie Indian legion, and the Arabian Legion. People need to read more history books.

They didn't fight in Caucasus mountains.

I'm sure when neighbors saw Yang as a old man after settling in Illinois, they could see the story of his life in his eyes. All the people who died next to him, the diverse places he's been, the pain . . . May he rest in peace in our hearts. :)

I'm very surprised no one has said this yet there's a movie about him it's called "My way" it's a real tear jerker everyone should watch it

There is a Korean movie about this guy. Of course many part of that movie were made by director's imagination because there are not enough historical source about this guy. The movie's title is "My way"(2011).

Blaze In the My Way movie, Yang was dying when the Americans were coming for him. He forcibly swapped name tags with his Japanese comrade before dying. This saved the Japanese guy's life as the Americans though he was Korean. They would had executed him on the spot if they read his Japanese Nametag.

@@maneuveraviator007_3 2012 regardless of what I said it being a sequel, it's still a must watch movie. I just love those two movies that much and was shocked to hear the guy even fought in the Korean War.

In the American prison camp, Yang was later forced to fiight in the Korean war in 1950 on the American side where he was captured by comunist Koreans and sent to a labor camp. In1955 Yang was sent to vietnam where he had to fight for the Viet Cong, but was captured by American forces again in 1961 and sent to a prison campin America

He was then sent into combat against Iraq during Desert Storm, but was captured and served Saddam Hussein until he was captured and pressed into service as a NATO member, until captured by some pissed off Taliban, which he fought for until he was captured by the US forces and sent back home where he then reverted back in time to when Korea was independent and was captured by the Japanese, only to be captured by the Russians then the Japanese again

1) Sent him to pacific war as a us army & he can go back to korea. At korean war, north korean invaded south, he joined north army. After incheon, he got captured, joined south army & fighted entire korean & vietnam war. 2) Became us army. At market garden, he got captured again by german then to berlin & capture by soviet sent to manchuria & became north korean army. The next is just like 1)
