Use to play this with my band from Philly when i was in college. We always had a helluva good time and never failed to move the crowd. Kool and the Gang was the preeminent instrumental funk band of the late 60's, early 70's and this live version is killer. I said whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa , whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa yeah!

Skupinu vytvoril v roku 1964 v Jersey City Robert Bell ako jazzové kombo pod názvom The Jazziacs. V zostave boli Ronals Bell saxofon, George Brown bicie, Robert Mickens trubka, Dennis Thomas saxofon Woody Sparrow gitara a Rick Westfield klavesy.V roku 1967 Sparrowa nahradil Claydes Smith a po zistení, že jazzom sa neuživia sa skupina preorientovala na R and B a vystupovala pod názvom The Soul Music Review.V roku 1968 vystupovali pod názvom New Dimensions potom New Flames a napokon Kool And The Flames a aby si ich nezamieňali so skupinou Jamesa Browna Famous Flames zmenili názov na Kool and The Gang podľa prezývky Roberta Bella. Po uzatvorení zmluvy s De-Lite Records v roku 1970 zaznamenali pozornosť inštrumentálnymi skladbami Kool And The Gang a The Gang´s Back.
