raymond riley Not sure if that title really suits Kool Herc 2 be honest. Herc was all about the Funk & making people dance. He is like the Afro_American Funk music champion Dj. He added a merry go round technique that changed the game & turned up the heat up on the dancefloors, not 2 mention what his partner Coke La Rock was doing on the mic.

With all due respect to Kool Herc's great contribution he did not create the break. What he did was loop the break, he made it continuous hence his creation of the Merry-go-round he pushed something that was already there to the next level and from there you have Grand Master Flash who took what Herc did and pushed it to the next level. From There you have Grand Wizard Theodore who invented scratching and the DJs after them continued to push art of turntablism. DJs in the late 60s early 70s were already mixing and playing breaks in the clubs in the Bronx (as well as park jams) and Manhattan. DJ Kool Herc took what was already in existence and moved the needle forward. He played music that catered to B-boys specifically funk music as well other interesting music that B-boys could dance to.

Herc was the first to hold a block party, he was the first to take the Jamaican idea of toasting over records and to adopt it in the Bronx. From his first sessions Hop Hop developed, Grandmaster Flash and Africa Bambaataa both got their inspiration from Herc. Turnablism comes from Herc. Rap (Toasting) and MCing (hyping the crowd) were separate in Jamaica. James Brown 'rapped' as did the Lost Poets and Wolfman Jack, Herc didn't, but none of them rapped over records. BBoying is from Bambaataa.

Bambaataa was inspired first by disco king Mario and kool dee. They’re all from the soundview part of The Bronx. Herc was way on the west Bronx

Bongo Rock was by the Incredible Bongo Band, one of Herc's signature records was Apache by the Incredible Bongo Band, which has a huge breakdown, whenever you heard that you knew Herc was on the decks, so they say. It went on to be covered by Flash on the Wheels of Steel, it became one of the most sampled records of all time, and has been used on a million and one records.

The song was a rendition of Ennio Morricone’s For A Few Dollars More by Babe Ruth, not “The Mexican” if I’m not mistaken. Either way, the records part of birthing hip hop were James Brown and Ennio Morricone blended which is cool as hell.

The start of hip hop, the peak was early 90's by 1997 it was all over.

Herc brought Jamaican Sound System culture to New York when he moved there. He used DJ, toasting, sound system and MCing he knew from the Carribean. DJs mixing records together in Hip Hop = Herc. MCs toasting/rapping, over the top = Herc's parties. Flash and Bambaataa copied him. Hip Hop adopted Jamaican music culture in DJing/turntablism and rap. Of the other pillars breakdancing is a mix of James Brown's dance styles and capoeira moves. Graffiti = gang culture from Bambaataa. Things have roots
