Anyone coming to Samui by air…book a hotel with airport pick up…or there is a land transport counter at the top of the airport ramp…they will organise a shared bus to drop you off at hotel,much cheaper than a taxi.

Have fun! Yeah, do that. It's an easy boat ride from Samui. You can arrange the trip when you are on Samui.
Taxis are controlled by a mafia on Samui (also on Phuket), and foreigners always have to pay rip-off prices. There is no Uber/Grab/Bolt, when they started to operate they were intimidated out of the market by the taxi mafia. Songthaew drivers are also intimidated by the taxi mafia so they are very reluctant to pick up foreigners for the "bus" price - that has been my experience for several years, although some people seem to disagree. If you are staying on Samui for any length of time and want to get around you must hire a scooter (not very safe) or a car.

Are cars easily available for renting ? If so, is it better than renting a scooter ?
@ArkoN7

That's not true at all. First of all when I arrived I got a good taxi rate and later I also got a Grab(their uber) and I paid the same price.... So no rip off and grab is available... I was there in december 2023...

I sometimes get that way before. I travel too, but don't worry. You're gonna have a heck of a time,
I was there at the end of Nov. 22 and it looks like we stayed in the same area if not the same hotel. The weather was humid but not hot, the entrance to the beaches I actually found hard to find because the big hotels have them hidden. The food was amazing, the coffee was hard to find good ones, but when I did I made that a go to spot. The service in general is slow so relax. Also Marijuana is legal and lots of shops. Average prices and not too strong. Been there done it I wouldn't go back.

@GregorBrown I took my Bike. So I started in Bangkok for three days, because of course the bike was on the next plane, and then back in Bangkok for two days before my flight out. In total, I was there 19 days. There was no charge for bringing my bike from Bangkok to Koh Samui by plane. Oh, Ps. The ride over the mountain of Koh Samui is not a ride, but a hike! RideGPS said it was 70% paved. LOL,! Washed-out trails, super steep assent. I almost got lost because GPS was all screwed up on top of the mountain, and there were actually 5 different paths to take! That was an adventure.

Great videos!!! What are the issues with flying a drone? Do I need to get a permit?
@GregorBrown

you should be able to fly fine, don't know the current rules, though.
Toward the end of the video, it suggested taking a ferry to Krabi... ...I didn't know this was an option from Samui -- and I've been there a few times. I'm returning again this year (Dec/Jan) for an extended stay. Was also planning on visiting the region from Krabi on south the Trang and Satun. Was previously considering flying from Samui to Krabi... ...again, is ferry also an option?
@GregorBrown

Yes it is totally an option just check with an agency on the island and they book you a fairy and then there's a bus ride once you get to the mainland
Great info. Thank you. How long to drive around the island?
@GregorBrown
3 ай бұрын
Depends on your stops and how much you want to explore! 🚗💨 Koh Samui can be circled in just a few hours if you're sticking to the main road. But to truly experience the island, I'd recommend taking at least a day or two, so you can enjoy the beaches, sights, and delicious Thai food along the way. Happy travels!

@GregorBrown

Absolutely! If you're looking for scenic runs, try exploring the little roads heading inland off the coast. You'll find some charming routes with beautiful views. For beach runs, the coastline offers fantastic stretches, especially during sunrise or sunset. Enjoy your runs and the breathtaking scenery!

Hi, Thanks for the video! 🍻 Is June an okay time to go to Koh Samui? There is a beach in Phuket that I luv (Nai Harn), but I think it's pretty hot down there right now and the sea a bit on the rough side. I suspect that beaches are much calmer and clearer on Koh Samui at the moment, and the weather a little less hot (?). What do you think? Thanks again man!

It's a common issue for travelers. Getting a local SIM card is a practical solution. It's all part of the travel experience! 📱🇹🇭
Great video however we are in the eSim world. You don’t need to call your carrier or go to any counter. Anyone reading this should research eSIMs that can be setup prior to getting to your country of travel.
@GregorBrown
5 ай бұрын
Absolutely, eSIMs are indeed a fantastic option for travelers these days. They offer convenience and ease, especially for those who prefer to have everything set up before landing. I'm planning to cover eSIMs in future videos, offering more insight and tips. However, for those who haven't transitioned to eSIMs yet or prefer a physical SIM card, getting a SIM or eSIM at the airport upon arrival is still a very viable and straightforward option. Thanks for bringing up this important point about the evolving world of travel tech! Stay tuned for more detailed information in upcoming videos. 🌏📱✈️🎥✨
