Anyone coming to Samui by air…book a hotel with airport pick up…or there is a land transport counter at the top of the airport ramp…they will organise a shared bus to drop you off at hotel, much cheaper than a taxi.

Taxis are controlled by a mafia on Samui (also on Phuket), and foreigners always have to pay rip-off prices. There is no Uber/Grab/Bolt, when they started to operate they were intimidated out of the market by the taxi mafia. Songthaew drivers are also intimidated by the taxi mafia so they are very reluctant to pick up foreigners for the "bus" price - that has been my experience for several years, although some people seem to disagree. If you are staying on Samui for any length of time and want to get around you must hire a scooter (not very safe) or a car.

I was there at the end of Nov. 22 and it looks like we stayed in the same area if not the same hotel. The weather was humid but not hot, the entrance to the beaches I actually found hard to find because the big hotels have them hidden. The food was amazing, the coffee was hard to find good ones, but when I did I made that a go to spot. The service in general is slow so relax. Also Marijuana is legal and lots of shops. Average prices and not too strong. Been there done it I wouldn't go back.

@GregorBrown I took my Bike. So I started in Bangkok for three days, because of course the bike was on the next plane, and then back in Bangkok for two days before my flight out. In total, I was there 19 days. There was no charge for bringing my bike from Bangkok to Koh Samui by plane. Oh, Ps. The ride over the mountain of Koh Samui is not a ride, but a hike! RideGPS said it was 70% paved. LOL,! Washed-out trails, super steep assent. I almost got lost because GPS was all screwed up on top of the mountain, and there were actually 5 different paths to take! That was an adventure.

Toward the end of the video, it suggested taking a ferry to Krabi... ...I didn't know this was an option from Samui -- and I've been there a few times. I'm returning again this year (Dec/Jan) for an extended stay. Was also planning on visiting the region from Krabi on south the Trang and Satun. Was previously considering flying from Samui to Krabi... ...again, is ferry also an option?

There is a beach in Phuket that I luv (Nai Harn), but I think it's pretty hot down there right now and the sea a bit on the rough side. Absolutely, eSIMs are indeed a fantastic option for travelers these days. They offer convenience and ease, especially for those who prefer to have everything set up before landing. I'm planning to cover eSIMs in future videos, offering more insight and tips. However, for those who haven't transitioned to eSIMs yet or prefer a physical SIM card, getting a SIM or eSIM at the airport upon arrival is still a very viable and straightforward option.
