After no announcement at TGS, my personal estimate is that they would release or announce DW10 in 2025 for the 20th anniversary of the Musou franchise. That being said, I could see them not producing any more after DW10 if it doesnt perform well.

Next year is 2024, the 20th anniversary of Samurai Warriors. 10 years ago we got SW4 for the 10th anniversary. I just hope they're trying to find a good balance to reboot/improve Dynasty/Samurai Warriors. After SW5 and the lackluster roster and lazy character development (Oda and Akechi), I don't have much hope for the future. Unless its a third party license game they seem to put no more effort into their work. I'll take another DW7 style entry where they play it safe but put more effort into story and character. Just no more DW6/DW9.

I see, thank you for the information. I am actually observing more on the pattern, so I can somewhat make deduction on what possible scenario is happening. But yes, everything should be taken with a grain of salt.

I stand by the fact that we survived 6, where they recycled characters, so therefore we shall survive 9. They just need to expand on the roots of 3,4,5, and people will buy the games. The formula sells itself. There is so much to expand on I pray they get it right. If they just did what the fans always ask for in the first place, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Excellent video dude 👍 Edit: I now have more appreciation for 6, and the things that they did do right with it. I am firm in my belief that 9 was the worst. It would break my heart if my faith was weaker for 10 😂 I better go pray real quick

From someone who played all DW games. I don't think the anime games are as impressive as DW previous games from characters and story perspective and turn around. And I believe DW has a chance to work if they develop the game play in a way that's suitable for this time, through making the game more difficult, making the items worth your time, and improving the coop experience. I agree with you, throughing games for the sake of publishing is just waste of time and reputation.

Overall game sales of third-party IP doesn’t equate 1:1 revenue for Koei Tecmo. in the case of third-party IP’s like Hyrule warriors, the overall sales will benefit the publisher not the developer. Typically Nintendo would have invested in that game upfront but ongoing sales will be the publishers spoils. So when evaluating the revenue, we have to account for a much larger percentage of revenue for first party games they publish themsels.

Warriors Orochi, it seems

I’m pretty sure Akihiro Suzuki, the producer for DW10, has already confirmed a new DW game is in the pipeline and that they wanted to get news out this year. So personally, I do think DW10 is pretty much guaranteed. I suspect by this time next year we’ll either be playing DW10 or at least have an official announcement. But yeah the mainline Warriors series is on the ropes. DW9, WO4, and SW5 were are ranging from bad to mediocre. They really need a big hit to keep the series alive and popular. I suspect that’s why it’s been so long without news of DW10. They know they have to get this right and release a quality product that’s going to excite fans and that another half finished mediocre game may as well be the death of the series. But either way, I think they will keep making Warriors spin-offs, so the style of gameplay will be around, but the actual DW and SW series night be dead if the next game isn’t great. But I do think DW10 will happen, and in the not too distant future

The thing is how many people actually played these games there's a difference between buying and playing very little vs buying and completing the game

My HYPE for DW8 back in 2010s was insane and it's my fave DW game to date then DW9 compared to 8 it was so much worse! It's interesting to hear that overseas users like Asian history games! I'm also waiting for the new DW series. If K.T want this series to be successful again, I think it to be a new genre with a musou style(I don't know what it's called in English. We need to get out of the boring genre of simply beating up our enemies) I hope K.T can make small contents of what they were able to do at that time while living the life of a historical figure. In that respect, I support the additional contents such as sightseeing and fishing in famous places and open world system

The biggest mystery remains: what is the "musou formula" that will hit the jackpot? It seems the dev team hasn't figured this one out yet. As long as this mystery remains, it is best not to rush any big DW or SW release.

1- Team Ninja is the studio working on the souls likes nioh, wo long and the upcoming Rise of ronin, not Omega force. 2- They are definitely not selling all those copies at full MSRP. 3- Except FATE those other spin off games are not licensed games, because they are not being published by KOEI, they didn't pay nintendo, atlus or namco for their IP, rather they (N,A,N) commissioned the work to KOEI/omegaforce , I couldn't find how is the split (if there is any and if is not just one time fee), but definitely the publisher (nintedo/namco/atlus) takes the majority. It also explains why they seem higher quality, because those, are at the very least, supervised by the publisher (which as stated is not KOEI)

1- I never said Omega Force was focusing on other games. I said Koei-Tecmo, the publisher that owns Omega Force and Team Ninja, were focusing on other games. These developers at the end of the day work under Koei-Tecmo. So Koei-Tecmo has the final say. 2- Regardless, these game sold more than the main Warriors games. Regardless of how many percentage Koei-Tecmo earned from their spin-off games, the fact remains that it's more profitable than their main Warriors games. 3- The point still stands that the spin-off games sold more copies than the main Warriors games. In return, Koei-Tecmo might earn more regardless on how many percent they earned from the joint project.

They need to rerelease the older warriors games samurai warriors 1-2 dynasty warriors 4-5 and warriors orochi 1-2

Team ninja makes souls likes, gust makes atelier. They are irrelevant. Omega force are the musou developers. Yes, properties are selling better, but they are dependant on 3rd party licensing and have a smaller margin as the license holder will get a cut. Warriors games are their backup games. They reduce dependency on 3rd parties. So, i think they will make more. It's just not their priority.

I think you're correct. What I want are GOOD Musou games. Whatever IP they're attached to is less important to me than games being good. Real problem is lack of competition ever since Capcom bailed on Sengoku Basara, though.

If you want to get into Dynasty Warriors, my suggestion as a starting game would be Dynasty Warriors 7: Xtreme Legends Definitive Edition on Steam. That game is a good start for newcomers to understand how the game plays, and the story. Make sure you get the Steam version, because the game has all the DLCs for free. If you want to play other musou or musou-like games on the PlayStation, I highly recommend Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes on the PS3. It's not a game by Koei, it's a Capcom game. But, Sengoku Basara is a good alternative series for Dynasty and Samurai Warriors. Plus the game was made by the team that made Devil May Cry.

The things is Dynasty Warriors has actually gotten that good (DW8 only had minimal error and story issues) that it's has masterpiece potential (GOW Trilogy, MGRR, Bayonetta Duology, DMC). With the Iconic Voice actors with combat and story polish this IP can make Nioh 2 and Wo Long look secondary material. DW10 is a chance to make fans come back and new fans go wild

I'm a fan since DW2 and I've almost all of them, I don't think the 9 was a throwout game, they tried to change adding the open world but the stories and the open world itself were very annoying and repetitive (i mean, repetitiveness is typical of dw series but in the 9th they exaggerated). DW8XL probably was the most complete dw game. I think that a 10 will come out but yes, I honestly struggle to see where they can improve (maybe better maps, better fps, adding more stories for example before or after the three kingdom period idk), but I think that for the DW series we're at the end just because it's a niche, people now prefer souls like game (and i don't see a dw reboot in a soulslike) or as you well said worldwide known sagas/anime. The only true way to give a new life to dw and sw it's a tv series like the one of onepiece or games of thrones etc., that would probably bring new people to know it (the romance of the three kingdom is really a masterpiece).

I been playing DW since the first one on psone. I'm a loyal fan but the the series has been gaming flat save for 8. I hope 10 releases and is great like the older games.

Given the popularity of One Piece Warriors and Warriors Orochi games, they should just make Shōnen Warriors and have a crap ton of characters from that franchise and maybe throw in some Dynasty/Samurai Warrior characters to make it a massive crossover game.

my theory since koei has had a habit of following trends like DW9 open world cause of the open world craze from the mid 2010's. since the most recent trend now is remakes and remasters i have a feeling they might remake Dw3 over making a new game cause for business if the game is good it can win back old fans and make the series more known to a bigger audience but again its just my theory

how to improve the dynasty warriors game entirely would be start from scratch and just start with the basics again. the most common thing people want is for the game to be like DW3-5 again. I think its before it got too silly with attack stance types and then maps had to do with magic and then giving random characters scenes that aren't really canon to the actual story of the 3 kingdoms. their best idea they did was with their latest game. making the game one massive map as it actually felt very unique to all the other and has loads of potential to develop from on how the game plays but they messed it up in my opinion making the map very empty and when you eventually saw 1 random officer you would pound the shit out of him and be lonely for a long period of time. (i hated the fighting style too) for DW10 should be a complete start over (maybe keep dw9 map) and make the fight style so basic like DW3-4 and every character has 4-5 different weapons which eventually makes them have greater attacks. they've added loads of characters now so having that many characters would be so interesting. (in DW3 characters had the same weapons but slightly different attack moves which I to this day think its a great idea) playing the older DW games and actually fighting the little privates and i remember they were difficult and killing me all the time as the levels got on. i hate this 1 swing of your weapon and you've killed 10 privates. because of this i actually needed to use my teammates as help or distraction or just even wanting them near me to interact with. these newer games the enemies who is the hardest is Lu Bu and thats it. you can pretty much just piss about and obliterate anything ahaha. i do like that some characters are looking more fighters now and less anime super heroes except Ding Feng aha i have a weird feeling about him.

Boy, I sure love seeing my childhood burn in front of me! On a serious note, Koei has lost the only competitor they had, that being Capcom, and are now more than happy with providing us with the most mediocre of games. Then again, that’s definitely not the only reason. Perhaps similar to how we are tired of getting the same title every installment, they also have no idea where to go with the game. As much as I love their older games, I don’t mind if they stop with Warriors in general, and go an anime-only-route, or something similar.

My thoughts on DW 10, is that Koei is fully aware they royally screwed up with Dynasty warriors 10. While the new samurai warriors game wasn't perfect and had its glaring flaws, it was way better received than DW and was frankly a better game in general. So I imagine they are genuinely being stratagic and talking very closely behind closed doors in what is needed to make the next game not fail. I think the big lessons that Koei has to take from the failure of both Dynasty warriors 9 and Samurai warriors. Is firstly If they genuinely cant manage big rosters while upgrading the game itself, they are going to have to find a sweet spot where they can have a satisfying roster size, but also make each character feel diverse and unique. I mean hell if they felt like it, they could do proper season passes where each season introduces like 4-6 new characters. So that way they can take their time with it. Make each character feel unique. This is a MANDATORY, and what killed both DW 9 and the new SW more so than any other flaw. People can forgive shitty games as long they are fun, and the characters feel awesome. Dw9 Especially failed on that. Also maps, people have been complaining about the maps in the games for a while. The maps need to be nicer looking, and they need to offer more strategic variety in how to win, each map should have at least 2-3 viable strats in how to win. One of my favorite things to do in the old games was when my character wasn't op yet. So I had to look at the map at the start of each game and carefully plan out "whats the most optimal stratagy to win as quickly and painlessly as possible". That has basically been erased in DW 9 and the new SW. Another big thing, is really go all out in the sound tract, make me want to literally buy the sound tract, many games as of late have had huge success by going all out in the music department. League, guilty gear, the new street fighter. I really want them to go crazy with the music and visuals in the next game. Lastly, don't erase the combat system from DW9, improve it, and the reason i say this, is for DW9 did ONE single thing correctly, it made boss fights actually interesting, keep that, don't get rid of it.

I been DW fan when they start fighting game at first then took it in hack and slash, from DW all the way to DW8E they a fantastic job, 9 and 9 empires did not gave me that feel of it, they did an effort job to make it. If they're going to make a DW10 at least put some more dedication to this game, if they're not feel confident about making or releasing a dw10 and push it back when Koei Tecmo and Omega Force is ready to make a Dynasty Warriors game.

The romance series are way less selling number compare to warrior series but they still put out a remake of it regardlessly. This prove that aren't that much of looking at sales number. I think the main reason of they put aside the warrior series temporary is because the failure of DW9, they just need more time to consider the future of the series and how to improve it. Whatever, the warrior series will come back eventually

I think Wild Hearts failed miserably. EA is ending support for it. I'll be honest, I haven't enjoyed a mosou game in a long time. Was expecting a Ken's Rage 3 for the 40th anniversary of Hokuto but got nothing when it came to gaming in general. Only way I see them doing another one are spin offs with Fire Emblem series and I guess whatever popular anime. Wouldn't mind them attempting another Warriors All-Stars. Good video btw.

Souls like games - nah, Monster Hunter style games - nah, not for me. I never played the Atelier games. But Fate/Samurai Remnant looks really great for me and with the fighting style like Musou games. I never played any Fate game at all but Samurai Remnant will be the first one then. A Yu-Gi-Oh and or Digimon Musou game would be funny, unlikely but funny.

I just wish DW actually have fixed directions. - I feel every improvement each numbered release mostly wont carry over the next installment, so there's no improvement but experimental. Making every next installment not improvement or revolutionary but seems like try to throw anything to make the game felt different yet almost exactly the same. Why not take what good in past installment to next and make everything rich of features. But no, its like remake of same game with different directors and directions. Eventually nothing will stick and clearly shown in DW9 have huge potential of open world but nothing in it. Imagine climbing ladders to infiltrate the gates, control weapons, ship sailing, infiltrations, etc. - Also hundreds of playable characters not equals to quality. I rather play generals/lieutenants/soldiers that do go to war than king/queens that in reality wont even touch the battlefield. Give em those unique model tho, but let them stay on main base as the king/queen that should not be fallen. Make every playable character play uniquely and interact with environtments and strategy differently. - Optimize the game, when you make DW6 I remember toning down number of enemies and AI intelligence since console can't handle it. Now it's not a valid reason anymore. Put effort to add smarter enemies, animations, numbers and love of environment level designs. All optimized no random FPS drop or stutters. - Give us the history mode to emulate the story, and xtreme legends where we can make our OG character to bend how 3 kingdoms ended. Its more interesting like in DW5 XL. - And why separate Empire mode really, no reasons to release it as separate games, we didnt need DVD/Blu Ray anymore. Release it as one game, make tons of replayability while updating and maintain the game easier. - Also dont make vintage default costumes locked behind DLC. Give DLC that add new hero, new scenario/war, new stage musics, etc. Thats a DLC. Not just bikini for females and weird costumes that just small number of people liking it. - Lastly give same effort as Nioh, Ninja Gaiden, DoA, etc. your other franchise that clearly have more efforts than DW series and improvement and experimental features.

The problem I have is that koei shit the bed with DW9 and with SW5 because they didn’t polish anything, clone sets and weapons, removed loved features like the bodyguard system, a good ambition mode or what they had in DW5. Removed CAC among other things. The system in SW5 was pretty nice for combat but they completely messed up by shortening the story so drastically and taking away so many characters they could have utilized, nevermind the clone weapons and incredibly generic characters. Yasuke a fucking brawler? They fell into incredibly bad habits and it’s very disappointing.

I just hope someone will take the mantle to revolutionize dw and sw and bring it back to it’s heydays

if koei tecmo wants to make warrior spin off games thats fine. if they can make it work, then it will be good for both sides. if they cant then why are they even making the game in the first place aside that being money. tbh i dont have much confidence in koei tecmo anymore. koei tecmo is dead to me and i dont know them anymore. i just play their older titles that were released long ago and nowadays i always think back to the times when koei tecmo was still a good and amazing company and their games were very good too. when their games had alot of passion and soul in it.

I don't think Koei is "dead" just because they don't put a lot of effort with their newer Dynasty or Samurai Warriors games anymore. Koei is just moving on a different direction. From a business stand point, it makes sense if Koei wants to have a different direction, to adapt with the current video game market. Whether you like it or not, it's how it is.

@@Profar26 yes I understand that, but I'm just saying that they are gone and dead from my point of view. I don't feel the same amount of love and soul that I got from their older titles. I grew up playing dw4 which to me is the greatest dw game of all time. If you still like their games and them in general, then I'm happy for you. To me they're already gone. Dead in my eyes. Just dead and gone. I don't have any confidence that this company will ever make great games again like they used to. They're only gonna put out at best mediocre or average titles and probably throw a few DLC in and that's about it. Not gonna buy another game from them until they have showed that they still have talent, soul, and passion for the games they make.

So if in any chance they release DW10 and flops. High chance they'll cancelling everything in the orochi verse soon after (like DoA/Ninja gaiden series RIP😢) DW 8 is one of my favorite games and it was perfect. I remember grinding for red hare and every 5 star weapons in a PS rental😂

There will be Dynasty Warriors 10. But I expect it to be DW9.2, like DW8 was DW7.2. They'll declone everyone, add new characters, one or two new attacks and call it a day. The big budget is being kept for the collaboration games/IPs.

SW5 and DW9 was soooo bad especially coming from their prequel. The SW4 series and DW8 series were the best they had.

I don't like open world a lot so I've been replaying dw8 for the third time. I'm willing to wait for better animation like in dw9 but w better mechanic n world map

They really messed up with 10. Honestly im not sure what people want out of a dw or sw game. For me i want to see a game that has the over the top combat but with actual enemies that are a challenge to fight. I don't know how koei has other departments that make games with amazing combat systems but yet the warriors dont use any inspiration from those.

I would like an open world style except more cell shaded and less realistic weapons.

For mainline warriors they just need to realise they need to build on top of existing assets and not focusing on innovation for the sake of it and discarding good things about past iterations needlessly. Franchise musous are all the same formula of base taking so why cant mainline warriors do a similar thing? It’s a simple cost effectiveness thing. I also believe they’re using franchise musous to build so they can afford to have mainline musous.

A new Dynasty Warriors Gundam game would be amazing since it's been over a decade since the last one.

My problem with the series is that they don't design an authentic look of the characters. I wish they designed them the same way they did with Wo Long. I believe KT is publishing the DW series initially in the Chinese Market recently. They pays attention to the Chinese Market but that is a very competitive market as there are many Chinese publishers. Eventually the Hack & slash generic will be revistied by indie developers just like the rest of the abandoned generics in the gaming industry. Till then good luck.
