    Ye sorry I meant to say that I'm 70% on the road but still want to do some 'soft' roading. I'm UK based and have found the 205/80/16, it's a common Jimny size from the looks of it. It's my first off road setup, previous cars have been sporty/lowered, setup for cornering. May main thought is that too thin? Should I aim for 225? Is the lift enough? Cheers

  • @Chase_Schrader

    @Chase_Schrader

    5 ай бұрын

    I haven't seen a lot of 205/80/16 on Subaru's but with that lift you can fit a 28.5″ wheel, which is most commonly a 225/65-17 but if you wanted a 16 you could go to a 225/70-16 which they do make in the AT3s. But if you wanted something a little less aggressive you could go for an On-Road A/T like a Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015. You could probably get away with a 205/80/16 as it is only 2% difference.

  • @Chase_Schrader

    The toyo open country AT 3 are GARBAGE. Had them on my 2017 forester for 2 months this past winter here in New Brunswick. I've never been so scared to drive in my life Temps out here got down below -30 -35 multiple times this winter here. The tires turned rock hard and I was sliding all over the roads. I called toyo and spoke to a rep. He said the tires are not designed to go this low in Temps and they will get hard because of the compound. He said they had multiple calls due to this issue. . Took them off after 2 months and sold them off. I rock terra trac AT 2s now. Best tire I've used so far.

    Interesting, I haven't heard of that issue before nor have I had that issue when the temps drop here, although we usually we are playing in the deep snow by then. That being said they still flex when aired down at those temps. I feel at that temperature most year around A/Ts are going to have an issue and a winter tire might be best for hard pack roads roads at -35C. Nice, I have head good things about those more budget orientated tires!
