Der beeindruckende Flughafen ist sicherlich nicht nur für alle Luftfahrt- und Technikfans das neue Highlight des Wunderlandes. Über 40 verschiedene Flugzeuge (vom A380 bis zur Cessna) fahren heute selbstständig über den Flughafen, rollen zum Gate und werden von einem Pushback-Fahrzeug zurückgeschoben, um dann zur Start- und Landebahn zu rollen. Dort beschleunigen sie und heben ab. Jedes Flugzeug ist mit Originalbeleuchtung ausgestattet und die Turbinen klingen zumindest beim Start realistisch.
The 150 sqm large airport, located in the middle of the Alps, is a big technical challenge. Since May 2004, already, the technology is being developed to find a solution for a realistic simulation of takeoffs and landings. The Airport has been opened in May 2011. Besides the simulation for takeoff and landing, there is a large advanced Carsystem which moves not only vehicles, but also airplanes. The Airport is the largest model airport and is technically as groundbreaking as the Carsystem.

Only 1.5 million seems like an cheap bargain price for something this spectacular. Literally when Billionaires are willing to spend millions on a banana taped to the wall calling it art form.

This Knuffingen Airport world's biggest miniature airport model is very amazing ang impressive. I am just wondering how long it took the model builders to finish it. I used to build models (airplanes, ships (sailboats, aircraft carriers, etc.), cars, etc. way back in the 1980 when i was the finance manager of Revell, Inc. which used to be based in Marina del Rey, CA, and this miniature Airport (Hamburg, Germany) is well beyond my imagination. My kudos, salute and thanks to the guys who built this miniature airport for their achievement. Keep it up guys!

This airport is very good, it is good to build.You put a lot of effort into making that is very fantastic.
Besonders interessant sind die Terminalgebäude, die dem "großen" Airport Hamburg sehr detailliert nachempfunden wurden. Wer mit dem Flieger anreist, sollte mal darauf achten...
Watching this video reminds me of waiting at the Raleigh International Airport to take a plane to Cancun, Mexico few years ago Good memories

A bit of nightmare to navigate through most airports with a super jumbo. Thought the Thai A380 pulling out at 1:45 was going to clip the A340 parked at the gate next to it.

Da A380’s are being retired now and no one really cares about the A380 being retired but when the 747 was being retired, we were all having tears and stuff, but the A380, no one cares about it

It is 18 m long which equals 1566m in real. Still bigger than my house. Sometimes you have to compromise in scale even on a big layout like this.
