And they’ve often ranked near the bottom for on time flights. When conditions are difficult they string their passengers along with endless delays for hours while United and other carriers are flying with no delays. They just suck as an airline.

I was wondering the same thing. Ignoring practical factors like runway length, I think there isn't an upper limit to length as long as each section carries its weight and does a pretty good job playing follow the leader. There may be fun new tricks, like crack the whip to get the tail section to supersonic speed and reduce it to dust. It could fly itself into knots and other cool shapes. If it were stupidly long, maybe kilometers, I think I even see a way to land and stop a section using a path that involves sinusoids of varying amplitudes in the air and on the ground. I'd trust Peter to take me for a ride in a flying brick, but I think it would be too complex for a human to pull off. A shame it would cost an unreasonable amount to do just for fun.

@RealGodfromheaven

Final floppy 737 giving cruise missile vibes
@mackattack03
10 ай бұрын
The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.

Can't believe how well those multi-wing planes fly. By adding more winged sections, I think you just invented the first real air-train!
To be fair, that flew way better than I expected it to. Also shows some great redundancy as well, few planes can lose a whole pair of wings and still fly. Multi winged airplanes like that have long idly tickled my mind. Spreading the lift out along the length of an airplane would help reduce some of the headache of airplane construction. Though at the downside of introducing plenty of new "fun" engineering challenges to consider.
The fact that it kept losing wings yet it was still good enough to fly was amazing

They're such a great way to understand aerodynamics and aviation on a smaller scale. Plus, the community around RC airplanes is always so passionate and inventive - it's amazing to see what they come up with! 🛩✨

737 stretched to a 757 1:38
It kinda reminded me of the International Space Station. Since it actually flew so well, it might have been interesting to have experimented with more control surfaces. You might have been able to make it go sideways, or pivot around more than one center point. It already seemed to be able to accomplish a short takeoff. Maybe, the takeoff distance could be shortened even more. It seems like it would have good potential as a camera platform. A quad copter might be more maneuverable, but it also uses a lot of power, to stay in the air. With some tweaks, it could stay in the air a long time - especially without other planes trying to bring it down. It could be useful for filming ground events, or anything in between. It could probably carry a lot of cameras - providing all sorts of multiple views at once.

@@quillmaurer6563 they cant in the 737 due to them sitting so low and having a relativy short landing gear.. thats the root thing behind the whole 737 Max problem..it cant be too long or it cant rotate much without a tailstrike... the 757 had a longer gear and was streetched to 54m (a lot) and Airbus designed the 320 with a taller gear wich allowed the A321 streetch (still not as much as the 757).. also the 757 had really big engines that could fit bellow those wings wich made it a hot rod
@quillmaurer6563
10 ай бұрын
@@sparrowlt Exactly - my comment was sarcasm that they've already pushed the 737 design too far, yet seem to be trying to do so yet further. The problem that you mention of being unable to rotate was clearly shown in this video, the modified aircraft unable to take off on its own. That's the part Boeing really needs to notice. The 757 is a beloved aircraft by many, and really what Boeing needs right now instead of overgrown 737s. The best thing would be to have the 737 series shrink back down to a smaller niche that competes with the A220, A319, and E-Jets, and have a 757 replacement (if it were possible a re-engine of the 757, but to my understanding they'd pretty much have to start from scratch because all the 757 tooling was scrapped) to compete with the A320, A321, possibly the smallest A330neo variants, then the 787 and 777.
@sparrowlt
10 ай бұрын
@@quillmaurer6563 the 757 weights 17 tons more than a 321 (and probably than a 737-MAX9) so Boeing would need to make a hypothetical 757MAX much lighter in order to be competetive with the 321LR. The 737 would need a complete redesigned main gear wich would mean redesigning the central wing box.. dont know why Boeing finds that so hard to do that goes all the trouble that the MAX brought due to repositioning the engines... The 757 however was not suposed to be an "super effcient" regional intercontinental jet but a high performance jet for small-high-hot airports .. In theory it fell out of favor in the 90-2000s as it has not so good fuel economy for its seating.. but the fact its the majority of the 1000 built are still flying and operators hold on them due to their excelent performance and as freighters..
That was pretty awesome, never thought it could get that long and still fly stable as it did. That little camera is pretty cool.
