Wow, I don't recall ever seeing a group be so honest about money... Good for them not being intimidated by haters...

I really liked the fact that Soyeon was honest about the costs as much as she can be. Nothing is cheap anymore. Production costs are huge then you have marketing / promotion costs. So many times it is hidden. She was asked she said. She is the leader of the group and in my opinion one of the most loving, caring and best leaders, and yet, also one of the most misunderstood leaders out there. I love all the members of the group as they all bring something different. The one thing I do love about Soyeon is when she writes a new song. She writes it with her group members in mind so that they all get to shine. The fact she spent that amount of money on a gift of top end microphones for all her group members so that their voices can shine as best as possible. To me just highlights what a kind and caring person she is,

my jaw dropped and then i did the math that they literally only need to sell like 83,000 albums to get the gross back which they would have no trouble doing

They announced they sold though 1.5m first week while stores stocked 1.8m. The youtube video for wife and super lady would be making around 500k-1000k USD USD in ad rev. Unless music videos make much less. I think they should cover the costs of the promotion just from youtube ad rev.

​@@FlyingAnanas-337 problem is g idles(and most kpop) music video views are mostly ads ad views dont pay you back much isntead you're investing in them, for concerts the concert alone cost tremendous amount so any concert revenue or profit only compensates for the cost of concerts, and now about album sales from china sales are again a problem they're not always real sales but just a number they manipulate numbers it's not easy to get back the amount invested in promotions but they will

They make it up for the cost of everything already. They already sell more than 1.5 million album in the first week alone. Go higher Gidle. We will always be rooting for you.

One comment (now deleted) stating “Only kpop would do this, Taylor would never” Average mv costs start at 100k recorded to cap at 7m, (4m was one production cost of a hip hop/rap mv, 7m was for Micheal Jackson’s mv scream). Gidle spent 1B₩ is 820K dollars, less than what most pop artists spend on theirs, plus the gross earnings and sales they’re getting back is covering for that tenfold already. BAP’s mv one shot coast 900k dollars. Taylor’ swifts mv in recent years have reached 12 million. Quite a few of beyonce’s mv’s cost 1M. Plus, they paid for it. Why are so many of y’all bitching about like it came from your dusty ass pockets.

No offense to anyone, but Soyeon doesn’t need to tell the group members how much is being spent. The company doesn’t do that and that’s part of how K companies run. Not going to say it’s right but that means that Soyeon didn’t need to go through her members to approve it. Plus Soyeon has proved that she can keep G(idle) ahead of the curve.

Im so very proud of them esp Soyeon. She worked really hard since debut. She deserved to be rich. They all did. But why do they need to pay/share for the MV cost? It should be cost by company? Right? Anyways im so happy for their success 🎉

Cube probably didn't want to spend that much on the MV, but the (G)I-dle members insisted, so they have to pay out of their own pockets to cover half of the expenses.

It is. Idols are typically in debt for most of their careers because they get billed a large chunk of the production costs for comebacks and MVs. It can sometimes be even worse due to bad contracts. For example, one of the reasons Orbits were so upset about BBC and how they were treating LOONA was because they were covering half of the production but only making a small portion back in dividends. if I recall, they were reportedly only receiving a third of the revenue cut, essentially keeping them perpetually in debt.

Yes, the rest of the members had to pay the MV too with the money in their pocket so that's why Minnie get upset because she and the rest of the members spend a lot of money for the MV with the company too because the budget is hight for them.

Ehm ehm Gidle haters are able while Haters know how to hate Hahaha. They are the most independent group without having to ask for help from an agency. Nice Soyeon You are the best leader For me. From him I became a Composer.Makes his team all shine without being left behind while he is not selfish and All Out not playing.Just think Their song always gives a different vibe effect and I rarely feel it in other groups so Gidle Always the best For Me For my Opinion. Gidle is definitely one of the best girls kpop group in this generation! They remind me of my favourite group SNSD! Every year they bring lots of projects for us to enjoy. They are unique girls and each one shines so brightly. Whenever I look at other girl groups, usually one member only stands out or they aren't consistent active. Like Blackpink for example, I think they debuted around the same year and if you look at how many music they've made is very little compared to Gidle. No wonder Miyeon left YG and debuted with Soyeon.

Gidle had to pay half of it with their own money, while it should be Cube company who handled the full costs
