Knower, Second Set, Rochester JazzFest, June 24, 2018 *Full Show!*

Музыка

This is the second set of Knower live at the Anthology Club at the Rochester JazzFest on June 24, 2018. This particular gig is unique in that they play two pieces I'm not familiar with, at the time this video was posted. One is "Chinese Funk" and the other is "One Hope".
The lineup on this concert is:
Louis Cole: Drums, synth
Genevieve Artadi: Lead vocals
Sam Wilkes: Bass
Rai Thistlethwaite: Keyboards
The band was fresh off a tour of Europe, Asia, and Australia at the time of this performance, so they're tight and well rehearsed. Rai was not the usual keyboardist for this tour, but he was scheduled to perform at the Rochester JazzFest three days later, so I suspect, since he was in Rochester at the time, this is why he performed with the band on this particular gig. Fans may remember Rai as the keyboard player on the "Live Sesh" videos the band put on their KZread and Facebook channels, which went viral last year. If you haven't seen these, check 'em out. They're great!
My position while recording this was as far front as I could get. In fact, I was leaning against the stage and my beer was on the stage in front of me. Louis was 6 to 8 feet away. So I bring this concert from the Anthology Club directly to you.
Enjoy! :-)

    I'm afraid the real thing is not much better. It's called lo-fi, it's a thing, they do it on purpose. It is beyond me but apparently it is conscious. Artistic freedom and all.

  • @effsixteenblock50

    @effsixteenblock50

    @@MartinMaat That's not it at all. Genevieve's vocals in particular are not as loud as they should be (on the recording) because the guy recording is situated very close to the stage, right between the mains. If he would have been further back, there likely would have been a better mix but then the visual aspect wouldn't have been captured as well as it was. Knower has nothing to do with "lo-fi". Maybe "hyper-fi"?

    @@MartinMaatAdding noise to a recording to give it a "lo fi" vibe has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of a live mix. Their mixes live sound perfectly fine afaik. Of course the mix isn't going to sound good when just recorded from a phone as in the above vid.
