I was thinking the same thing! What Izzy said ironically is basically talking about himself at the moment. Perreira is also doing exactly what Izzy sought out or talked about trying to do. Difference is Perreira actually has a chance to beat Jones with the knockout power he has. I have to imagine if Reyes gave Jones. Run for his money at LHW then Perreira absolutely has a realistic chance at HW. Jones looked sloppy and slow on the feet granted it was just for a short time we got to witness but I didn’t forget that vs Gane. Perreira just has to elude the takedown as Jones at HW be a tougher task to fend off but on the feet Perreira will have even more of an advantage than Reyes did and Perreira is a different animal than Reyes.

In one breath everyone is praising pereira and disrespecting adesanya. Bear in mind adesanya is the only guy to even have a close fight with pereira. He was actually winning the first and had him out on his feet at the end of round 1. He kod him in the 2nd fight. People forget that adesanya isn't just the only guy to really beat pereira but also the only guy who effectively matched him on the feet. Add into that adesanya took more shots from pereira than almost anyone else whilst not going down. Personal character aside adesanya is one of the absolute greatest to do it and tbh going 1-1 with pereira when pereira is breezing through everyone a weight above is honestly not that bad.

I’ll say it again, it blows my mind that with all the coaches, refs, and doctors around with all that experience, they just let Jiri try and stand up. He’s clearly concussed and everyone is in shock and acts like they don’t know what to do. Make sure he stays down until you know he can get up on his own accord. Check his eyes, his breathing. Just try and calm him down, him just leaning on Herb and Herb can’t even hold him up it’s a bit embarrassing to be honest. I’ve seen other organizations not have this problem but the UFC just continues to let it happen. Sit him on his butt, grab a stool, get his coaches in there so he has familiar faces around him. If I was an EMT and I saw someone get knocked out on the street I would absolutely keep them there and calm him down before I ever tried holding him up. It’s just bad practices. In boxing the ref holdings the fighter against the ropes, or braces up against them so they can’t move. You don’t see it in other combat sports but in the UFC I feel like it’s every time.

Don’t think Jones would beat Alex, and think Tom could hypothetically beat him in the stand up.

Alot of experts were picking Jiri because he had success in the first fight but what they didnt take into consideration is Alex had almost 2 rounds in the first fight to study Jiri style before the tko.Alex came into this fight completely dialed in and just owned Jiri easily.Amazing CHAMA

If only Cyril Gane was the interim champ still that would have been a great matchup for Alex

Jiri looked like a very one dimensional rookie fighter. No leg kick checks and his right hand on his hip. Boxers learn this in their first lesson🤦🏻 And yes, I agree about him moving up to fight Tom or Jon…don’t think he stands a chance, unless they stand with him, which they won’t

I wouldn’t be so certain about Tom. Sergei Pavlovich was also known to have an achilles heel in his grappling while being extremely dangerous on the feet, but Tom chose to stand with him and never even attempted a single takedown

Maybe you can teach jiri a thing or two. You clearly have tons of professional fighting experience.

he has all the skills but his game plan, and i guess his camps are garbage. He should've been shooting singles and ankle picks all day. that crazy striking style would be great against someone like Alex ONLY after 3 rounds of groundwork.

@@emilianosintarias7337 Very good point. Kind of like what Islam does. He mixes his wrestling and striking so well people actually think he can out box somone like Poirier when in reality his oponents are just too worried about the takedowns to utilise their striking fully.

Anklaev doesn't deserve title shot just because he has good streak lol. He hasn't fought top guys like Alex. He can first fight Hill or jiri or even run it back with jan after draw fight with jan to prove his worth. He hasn't earned title shot yet by beating jhonny walker lol 🤣
