Knockoffs, Fakes, and Occasional Treasure - Antique Reselling for Profit
Ойын-сауық
Sue and I returned to Chambersburg. We came across a lot of fakes and knockoffs in this video, but still manage to leave with a few treasures.

Please note that the reseller market does fluctuate. Depending on the age of this video, the values of antiques and collectibles quoted in this installment may be out-of-date and no longer relevant. Enjoy with caution.

Hello, I am new a channel, I was wondering if you have a video about how you post or make profit of items? Is it all thru ebay? My biggest fear is packaging and sending stuffs because of damage. Also dont know how to deal w the postal services (yeah I know) It would be an interesting video just on that? thanks
one thing I have noted... while you can purchase new cheap lamps... a good new lamp is still over $100. Over $500 for a just decent hanging lamp. I always joke that antiques are the cheap way to go. My daughter bought IKEA for her first apartment, went away to do her science stuff for 3 months...and came home and the furniture had actually collapsed. Just melted in the summer heat. The only thing that had survived was a real wood end table she had found on the street. For the same price as IKEA, you can get real wood furniture, that will last for generations.

Omg!!! My mom had a panther lamp! I wish I had it now! I don’t know what happened to it. I was a little girl the last time I saw it😞 What a memory! Especially today it would have been her 98th birthday! I believe that was a sign from her today! The lamp is gorgeous!
Oh my gosh! That lamp with the glass shade!! Stunning!! I would have struggled to not keep it. Beautiful!!
You are GREAT! i have been doing the antique thing and ebay as well as metal detecting for MANY yearsand you def have me beat on antique knowledge! Thanks for sharing! Joe
Had to subscribe. ! Love seeing inside the stores. Your children are so darling and well behaved. My husband bought a pair of Harlequin lamps at a thrift store thirty years ago. They are not loved by others but they look right at home on each side of our wood bar lounge in the garage turned man cave.
Enjoyed every minute, very informative, and you are so engaging. For many years I resold estate and yard sale finds; couldn't even imagine trying to score in an antique shop. Amazing how you do.
Thanks for posting at the end what sold . That was interesting.
I am simply amazed . A young person like you has all the knowledge and expertise that you have. Cute and smart and a skilled metal detector your hubby is one lucky guy.

Questionable Roseville piece. You need more experience to be giving lessons!
Gosh, these just keep getting better and better. Really looking forward to more and more. That you are making mulah doesn't hurt either!
I like it when you say how much something might be worth!
I recently discovered both of your channels & subscribed. Love your hunts. I saw the same print I have when you were getting the panther lamp. I bought mine as a set of 2 pictures & I reframed them in modern black frame. They look great.
Just found your channel I am binge watching your informative funny and your advice is welcomed I love it
I just loved that lamp shade!! I hope I can find one!
I can totally see this as a TV show! A little bit of American Pickers with a side of Antique Roadshow thrown in. Wish you would link your finds to your eBay ID so we could purchase some of your cool finds. Keep the videos coming! Can't wait to see the progress on the chair you ladies purchased.
I ran into one of those head vases at a goodwill and had to pick it up. I wasn’t sure what it was but knew it was something I should get. Researched it and it’s a vintage Florence ceramics head vase and she’s a beauty!
I love where you point out the differences between certain pieces, very informative. The Fisher Price castle seems in really good shape. Sometimes the graphics(?) can be damaged or missing on Fisher Price things. It is so great it came with some plastic figures and such. The figures can be so pricey sometimes like finding Ernie from Bert and Ernie from FB Sesame Street. The lampshade is so beautiful.
your enthusiasm inspires me!
Wow, that lamp is just gorgeous, I love it!! Those dog tags were really neat.
Great video! Sue is awesome, I enjoy it when she shows off her expertise.
Hey Girl, sorry to hear about you credit card!!! Loved the video, I recognized the Dresden so I checked my piece and it was Dresden!!! Judy
I have that castle in my basement. I don't have any of the pieces anymore but I have saved it because it was one of my favorite toys.
Love to see the dog tags made into a wind chime
Wow! That lamp was beautiful!
Omg...I’m in Hagerstown; just miles from Chambers burg. Would limo be to meet you and Sue. I’ve been binge watching both ur channels since I found you last month. Jocelyn, you are an old soul and I love how excited you get digging and thrifting whether the find is great or not. I also love how ur kiddos get the fever when ur at the flea market. Stay cool and keep entertaining us all chickadee!!
That shade is really pretty!
When you were in that black rose store looking for that shade there was a McCoy mixing bowl behind you, it looked like it was in great shape & authentic (I can tell from the paint & lines in the bowl)they sell for 150-200 in good condition.😭😭
I'm so glad I found your KZread channel! I metal detect too!
I like u when u pick out the real one vs fake ones.
Your awesome ! Your friend is great! Love your videos.
wow.... I have that exact Panther setting in a drawer... It was my great great grandmothers...
I like it when you mix up
I just discovered the channel and am going back to the oldies because your so knowledgeable and fun to watch.
Thanks! Live your videos!
Love your videos. Northern baltimore here and we love going into PA. And suggestions for great shopping?
I scored at the thrift world in Omaha again. Bought all of the Good yarn . Got big ball mohair and two balls of lima lama hair. 1.98 each! I make hats scarfs and shaws. Love getting great new yarns at the thrift store. Have to actually look hard for " NEW" skiens, cheap.
Have you guys ever tried to see if he little school house on Sue property could be zoned for sales. It seems it would make a great antiques shop!
Oh yea! Bake Light. I remember now the jewelry is worth $ when you mentioned the 409.
I found your channel a few days ago and I feel like I'm a stocker because I've been bing watching your videos for days now. I'm pretty sure if we hung out we'd fight over things because we have similar taste.
I had that Fisher Price castle when I was a kid.
2:21 that plate is from Bordallo Pinheiro , a very old Portuguese Company (XIX CENTURY). You are right... the mark is new but I have to say that they are now making partnerships with designers and some new items may be valuable. Be aware...
Wow...Sue is amazing. You both are. Never go back to Applebee's
Although the yellow Majolica is newer ...Bordello Pineiro sells well on ebay for modest prices ..especially if it's green....frog mark
OMG. That fireplace
Hooked on your show! 🌸
During quarantine, maybe you could do a couple of solds videos. If you have time -- I know you're focused on the store. But it was always fun to see what you got for your picking efforts. I come back to these from time to time :)
OMG I had that castle as a kid... mom sold it in a yard sell years ago.

boadi SAME! I loved that castle!!!!
Hello. Recently discovered your informative and entertaining vids. I saw a floral picture or painting in this vid when you went back for the lampshade. It reminds me of something similar that my mother had when we were kids. Is there a name for that style of framed art? The one my mom had, had a dreamy painted /photo look. Would like to purchase one similar to it but haven’t a clue where to start. Thanks
The glossy glaze on a head vase is a dead giveaway that it's a knock off; real head vases are almost always matte to satin, and they were made in Japan.
lol @ vulture at the end ,,,,,made me go, mhmmmm okay lol ,,funny
roseville isnt work near what it was 20-30 years ago .in my area (pa)the market is dead for roseville
Another good video ,
on the "renad" lamp base... to the "untrained eye" it looks really beat up(two color metal looks worn off). How much, if an, repair work would be needed? When you repair and/or rewire laps does it make them worth less?
Hey them dog tags would make cool lamp pulls right? So does the 409 mess up the bake lite when you test it with that?
Can you do more videos on what to look for and how to begin finding treasure, what to look marks to look for, that kind of thing

ALL her videos are "what to look for" and makers marks and other distinguishing marks.. also reasons why you "would" or "would not" buy something... just keep watching. She's got a ton of videos
I knew which antique shop you were at as soon as I seen that old metal post. I like stopping in there and wandering thru all four buildings. You should visit the one in mercersburg. I think it's called foot of the mountain but don't quote me on that. Enjoyed the ride along and unlike the other commenter come on back Ya.

What is polly chrome? It be helpful to explain words like that....For us non experts. Thanks!!
I wish I could send you a picture of my moms lamp she’s had since the late 1940s. Porcelain, roses of yellow, blue, and pink. Brass base.
Boy your hair grows really fast Jocelyn one day it's red and purple next day it's long and blond next day it's crazy you're so funny
My Applebee's rocks in Austin!
On the lamp base, will you paint it or leave it distressed? Also, the shade the had with it was nice, if it wasn't a seperate, you'd take it for another project t, yes? Lady question, the figurine, why do you look for it to be NOT painted on the back. Also, on the picture of the figure you posted as a comparison the detail on your pic was much better than the one for a $1.00. Was the paint on her face just more worn? I'm a senior on a very small SS retirement, so been thinking about your style of picking and recalling. I've collected and inherited many different types of antiques, but my knowledge is very limited. You and Sue rea great teachers and I love your videos.
Bakelite does not emit an odor when you just pick it up and sniff it lol. It must be warmed up by friction.
@sobeit2842

If most people can smell it when warmed up by friction, then I am sure there are a few people who can smell it by just holding it in their hand and bringing it up to their nose.
I am surprised you are not on TV yet :)
Oh yeah, I have a chance to buy a framed movie poster for $80. It's Casablanca, the lady selling it said it was encased in an acid-proof frame. Some of it is written in Frencht, looks pretty nice, think it's worth it?
My mother inlaw used to Cain chairs
I wanna go shopping with you two... I'll buy your Starbucks! 😊😂

She says all "city" Starbucks mugs are worth money. She advises going to the SOLD section of eBay to find out what it's "worth" not what it's "listed for"... also she said she does NOT use eBay to sell very many things.
What’s on the bottom of the panther lamp that you say makes it worth money? Can’t read it on certain size computers or phones? Thanks!

My Grandpa had a black panther lamp like that
OMG, are you in Carlisle, Pennsylvania?!? My father and stepmother lived in Carlisle after they retired. Until then, they lived in Frederick, Maryland for about 22 years. He was also a pastor. (I heard you say in another video that your father is, too.) I spent all my time visiting Daddy in the Church of God nursing home in Carlisle in November 2017, or sleep in my hotel room. I didn't see much of it, but I think Carlisle is a quaint and intriguing town. I'd love to visit again and explore more of it. Are the dog tags for servicemen or canines? I couldn't read them good enough to tell.

About the 409 tip. You said it turns it yellow. I assume not permanent, because that would ruin the Bakelite.
@vaderladyl

@@aprilanonymous7237 Smells like formaldehyde , which is a chemical used in the process of making the Bakelite.
That bag didn't have a lot of the accessories, just a few and that white ladder definitely doesn't go to the castle.
❤️
Found a piece of depresh glass the other day, it's a clear, tea room style, vase,. I read it was made between 1926-1931, is it valuable? No chips, cracks, or imperfections.

Applebees is going downhill fast.
Wait... I’m new. Aren’t you trying to teach us? Why would we be “like what?” about the stamp on the bottom of the vase?? You’re trying to educate us right?
