Knock down texture application. In this how to video we are doing an orange peel knock down texture on a new construction job. We are using regular premixed joint compound for the ceiling texture and the wall texture. While I don't do a lot of drywall finishing, I am really good at it from past experience. I also do tons of dry wall repair in my day to day painting career, in remodeling my own house, and in other home improvement projects.

I have always enjoyed teaching people things about the painting industry, just to show them that it doesn't have to be as complicated as it seems. Why pva before applying knockdown?

I go back and forth on this one. You're supposed to prime before you shoot the texture according to the texture manufacturer. They say there is some adhesion issues if this step is skipped. That being said, I've done it the other way more often, and never had any problems. So for the purpose of this video I wanted to play by the book!

The texture doesn't shrink up on the flats and butt joints if u prime
Why do u wear a mask the whole time ?
