Emily your forest berry cardigan looks lovely, colour fit and everything is just right. I’d be feeling the same reluctance to plough forward on your shawl, it’s so difficult to know what something will look like until it’s properly blocked! You may have had trouble with words but your video was good company and as you say it’s so good to be inspired by others 😊 thank you 🤗

Thank you 😊😊 I'm very pleased with it. Ooh the shawl.. I haven't looked at it since haha but I haven't knitted anything since this video so perhaps it's nothing personal to the shawl 😉 Thank you 😊 words were hard that day 😂

This raglan cardigan is very pretty and looks so good on you. The fit is great. I agree, the neckline is flattering and I have the same problem finding the right underwear since I like to have my armpits covered to protect the knits from my sweat. I had the thought of buying simple tees and then cut the neckline to fit under my garment.

Thank you 😊 yes that's exactly why I need something underneath. I don't know what they wore in the 40s/50s but my armpits don't appreciate a daily dose of sweat 😅 I've heard about dress shields and I'm tempted to try and make some. Like armpit sanitary towels 🤣

I have very similar cashmere yarn that I reclaimed from a 100% cashmere sweater I picked up at a thrift store. I frogged it, wound it into balls and then didn't touch it for almost 10 years. I am about 2/3 done with a fingering weight sweater using it as the contrast color (held 4 together). It seems too thin and like 4 separate strands while knitting, but once blocked it blooms to the perfect gauge to match the fingering weight main color and it looks like normal plied yarn (even though I didn't actually ply the 4 strands together). I also didn't wash the kinks out, but it did sit in balls for almost 10 years, so that straightened some of it out.

Wow 10 years! I fear this may be me also but I will try to make it happen faster 🙈 helf 4 together.. ok, interesting.. I thought about holding it together with itself but just 2 strands.. I didn't think 4.. maybe I'll hold it together with another yarn and see what I prefer. Fun and adventures with unraveled store bought jumpers 😆

Your cardigan is beautiful. However next time you work it are you going to do the puff sleeves? From a distance it doesn’t look like the puff sleeves match the rest of the beautiful cardigan. I love that color! Have fun wearing your new make.

Yes and no 😊 I think I'll make the forest berry again as a jumper but following a vintage pattern and seaming the sleeves in etc. But I'd like to make a stripy one following fabel knitwears modern take on vintage with these shoulders and see how I like it in some of the super wash yarn I have. Experimentation 😆

    I’d knit the cashmere with a 4 ply x

Mmmm that is a good point.. I thought about holding it together but I don't think I'd have enough for anything like a jumper.. I'll have to keep my eye out for 4ply in a similar colour 🧐🙂 thanks

Emily. Your cardigan is so lovely. I love the puff sleeves but the neck opening is really wide. I don't know how to fix the problem. It looks as if the puffed sleeves are attach to the neck collar ribbing. I would like to have some rows of regular knit/ stockinette between the two. Short rows of some sort??? That would allow the neck band to remain at the neck and not pulled out to the shoulders. I love the buttons and the yarn and you nailed the size....perfect. I just bought the Lauder pattern from Creabea. I plan on making the v-neck vest in a short more 40's length pullover in...... green.....🎉 This pattern is cables and braids on steroids. So I get using a cable needle. I use one at all times when knitting cables.

The neckline is ones own preference. I think it looks nice. That said, I have knitted the forrest berry myself and had problem using the cardigan as it is more of a boatneck. I unpicked the ribbing, did some shortrows and knitted back the ribbing and now the neckline is more "normal" and I use it more.

Morning 🌞 Actually the neckline is correct and how I want it. I like boatnecks/square necks, so I don't have an issue with it. It's almost to pattern but I did actually add 5 rows more of short rows in the back. I just want to get t-shirts to wear underwear that don't stick out from underneath 🙈 I need to make boat neck versions of them too 😄

I haven't seen Creabea's patterns .. I'll have to see what 1940's creation you make out of it 😊 you've sold me on the fact it'll be green 💚

I love the neckline but I do need to sort out my tee shirts for it 😆 I did add 5 extra rows of short rows before doing the ribbing so it's probably a little higher in the back now anyway. I have to get my sewing mojo to kick in so I can get working on those tees 😆 It's great that you adjusted the neckline and now wear it. I find it so sad when knit wear gets abandoned and never worn. All those hours and work!
