Thank you for clarifying the M1 L and M1 R. It makes so much more sense to me. I love your minute short and long videos. I’m working on my first toe up flip flop socks. Your pattern is terrific. Thank you thank you.

the way in which the picked up strand lies (\ or / ) over the needle is the way the eventual stitch will be (:

@@olivernightingale8260 And it's more secure (at least to me) than a yarnover! Especially when new. I feel the more obvious the better, and a yarnover can sometimes slide over a stitchmarker or you can mistake it/forget. I have that sometimes when making triangle scarves, where you have a spine in the middle; and then all of a sudden your spine has moved a stitch to the side and it's reaaaaally obvious🥴. This way, even if you don't figure out the right side perfectly yet (socks and triangle scarves are super good for learning the sides!) at least it is going to be a stitch knitted out of the bar below, so there is no losing it when done!

@@catie1899 Thanks for mentioning the spine on a triangular shawl. I’ve had that problem too. A frogging’ we will go!! One stitch can stick out like a sore thumb.

An easy way that I remember is when you put your stitch on the needle, it should lean right for a M1R, or it should lean left for a M1L.
