In my experience, the cast-on that starts smoothly and goes to bind off without some "issue" is rare and long remembered. Which is why projects like the half & half or a Saturday Shrug are such a pleasure. As to under-weight skeins -- I've found more overs than shorts. I try to weigh each hank and note the exact grams when caking up.

I absolutely adore your half-and-half in Christmas colours. What a great idea. Your alpine bloom looks fantastic so far. It is on my wish list. Best wishes from a Canadian Podcaster!

Another lovely podcast. Regarding the yarn and weight, as far as I know the yarn runs thru a meter so that the amount being sold is correct because yarn can become heavier due high humidity ( therefore you think you have more yarn meterage than you actually do)or lighter because it has lost weight due to lack of moisture and so you think you have less
