I see this movie as a prequel to the original series. It sets up Phoenix and the battle for the Sagittarius armor for the sequel, which means all the boys are also due in it. I wish they dove deeper into Seiya and Nero/Ikki's character, but it looks like they saved it for the sequel. I enjoyed it for what it was and gave it a 7/10 overall. I could forgive the armors for now since the original armors were also quite ugly at first. It's too bad that we will probably not get a sequel, unless it was already budgeted.

Expositions is fine when it’s good

My score is 3/10. There are few promising elements but I get a feeling that the movie writers don't understand what Saint Seiya franchise really is all about. They should stick to only Galaxy War Tournament story arc were in the climax of the movie Seiya would fight Shiryu, and then Ikki shows up for possible sequel hint at the end. The actual story of this movie wasn't that good, and they tried to do something at the end were Seiya fights Ikki but it wasn't flesh out properly like in the manga. They should also add some blood during certain scenes to make them more impactful like in the original manga/anime. Overoll this movie wasn't like a Dragon Ball Evolution disaster, but if you decide to never watch in the cinema you didn't lose anything at all, and I can see why some people will be really disapionted. Ps. Americans still don't know how to make anime live action adaptations.

I watched all of Saint Seiya anime from orginal from the 80, Saint Seiya Hades arc, Saint Seiya Lost Canvas, Saint Seiya Omega, up to Saint Seiya Sainta Sho. Some of them were good, or mediocre but this live action movie is probably on the same tier as Netflix Saint Seiya anime being in the lowest part.

Not every studio is marvel and we shouldn't compare everything with Disney .
