Knights of the Night! Hunting SAMs in the DCS F/A-18C Hornet
Ойындар
Hey guys! This is the Second mission in an ongoing campaign on the Spuds Buds Discord server.
Operation Burning Sands pits its the two fictional countries of the old Strike Fighters Games in a modern conflict set on the DCS Syria Map! Since their independence from colonial powers Paran and Dhimar have been locked in a struggle over the disputed border and the vast amount of oil under the desert sands.
Growing up the Strike Fighters games were some of my absolute favorite and engaging in a fictional campaign really lets my imagination run wild to create fun and unique scenarios for mission!
If you guys would like a video going in depth on the History of Paran and Dhimar please let me know!

The meme during tacview was a nice touch.
Spud, the audio for the radio is really skewed. If you could turn yourself up, and the comms from others down that would be great. The high pitch radio comes through so much more than your voice.

yeah i noticed that as well
Spud. Long time viewer. love your videos and it’s much better/easier to watch when you’re the only one in the cockpit. Amazing dedication to the DCS community. Thank you and clear skies.
Great fun to watch Col. Spud! Almost carnage on the taxiways. Hope your training is going well in RL.
Awesome video spud! really enjoyed it. thanks!

Another good mission Spud. Great to see a TacView debrief!!!
Sneaky Slant Drillers. Get some. Vicarious thrills.
This new campaign looks like so much fun! Someday, I'm going to get proficient enough in at least the hornet to actually fly one of these...
Keep up the great work Spud

@@Spudknocker I feel this in my soul
love night missions
So I was watch the Oceana 2022 Air Show live stream yesterday and there was a Super Hornet demo and the pilot had the callsign "SPUD". Any relation?
How does one get involved with one of these missions? Figured it would be a fun way to learn from others. And can anyone join your discord?

Yep link is in the video description!
After flying in dcs for a couple dozen hours going back to war thunder sim and the flight models feel so janky at low speeds
So when does Yellow squadron show up to ruin your day? Wait...wrong game!! lol. Nice mission Spud...You have gotten me to play Strike Fighters agian alongside Ace Combat. I think Ace Combat Zero and Ace Combat 4 are best. Can't wait to see what you have plan for future missions.

Kingdom of “Dhimar” sounds very close to “Himar” which means Donkey in Arabic 😅
Your preflight rituals is giving me motion induced siezures! lol You run the mouse cursor around like you're playing a game of Bejeweled. I tried following it, but you are all over the place. I suppose each has their own way of preparation, yours is impossible to follow. I was told to have a flow. Start on the right bottom and make your way around. You go in 100 different directions in a chaotic pattern. What ever works, right? lol

You arent wrong! Night missions always need a little extra running around the cockpit LOL
Your comms are short because you are talking as soon as you push the button. I'm in the military, when you're speaking, you're supposed to hold the button down for about one second before talking, and then hold about a second after you're finished. The same principle applies over the internet. You need to give the data packets time to travel over the internet before speaking. That way, your entire transmission is sent, and not cut off. Also, you should clean uo your chatter more. You dont need to tell your wimgmen that youre putting in a target into your computer. Why do they need to know that? Thats a small detail that only you need to know. That's not providing any useful information for everyone else. They all know that targets should be put into your computer (this shouldnt be done during the flight, but before you take off during mission prep by the way. If you're doing it during your flight, it means you forgot to adequately prepare for the mission) This is a miniscule detail. It's like telling your flight "Im going to turn on my night vision to look around". Nobody needs to know this, it's not an important piece of information.
