Oh man guys! I am so excited to finally bring you the very first installment of the Operation Burning Sands Series in the brand new DCS F-4E Phantom II! I have been so excited to finally fly a mission in this jet and it is a dream come true to finally have the Phantom in DCS World!
Originally this Alternate Operation Burning Sands Universe (for lack of a better term) was created to bring the old Strike Fighters series of games to life within the framework of Eagle Dynamic's DCS World. But it has grown far, far beyond the one little page of lore in a booklet that came with the original games! I hope you are all enjoying these missions and the storyline.
This mission depicts the Shah of Dhimar re-upping his currency in the F-4E Phantom II while also contemplating a potential succession crisis with the loss of his oldest son in the first days of the war, as more Islamist propaganda filters in from the Islamic Revolution occurring in the newly formed Arab Republic of New Alexandria across the Sinai Peninsula.
After getting three bounces and a few hours in to keep his currency in the F-4E, the Shah addresses the gathered crowd and with other government officials decorates a number of the Phantom Pilots from the reserve squadrons for their bravery in the new war, Operation Burning Sands, after recounting his memories of Operation Desert Fury and the large aerial ambush that occurred over the Palmyra Oil Fields.

Operation Desert Fury: The great (but accidental) MiG wall. That dogfighting in the end was the most fun in DCS i've had in a while

Nice to see ThirdWire's Strike Fighters Project 1 coming back to life in DCS.
Awesome tale. Everything is so realistic. I especial loved how you grayed out the end to show the aging effect. That was well thought out. Nailed another one. Great work. I don't know how you have time to accomplish so much, but keep them flowing if you can. It's better than watching Netflix movies. Live is life. Again, awesome.

Fun to watch you guys have some action. Us 16s tried not to get in the way, then got stuck an hour in a AAR que as we finally were rid of the MiG wall. Here is to triggers working next time

@@Spudknocker We would have been on station in the end and ready to use the power of the F-16 if we just had decided to go for a different KC-135, and that is on us - so it is also a thing to learn leadership-wise
You got the squawk all wrong dude. You have to set the 4 digits squawk in M3, M1 is for mission type etc.. What you did was setting mission type 32 and a squawk of 0100. Kudos to the GCIs, they did a great job!
The biggest piece that was missing was obtained. It looks like you guys have made a real beginning!
Would love to get in on these flights once I get up to speed on the F4 (pilot or WSO). Based in the U.K, What are the typical time zones for flight?

From what I was hearing, I see you’re using the p51 as a fac(a) - I’m guessing that’s in place of an A1. Have you considered using the Bronco OV-10 mod instead? Might be better suited to the role :)
SRS just had an update this weekend that means the AUX channel now works receive only (as it should be). I can imagine this will make things interesting for future missions. Probably best for the flight lead to be on strike ops on the primary and flight on aux, with the rest of the flight being inverse (ie the rest of the flight able to talk to lead but listen to strike).
