While I don't know exactly what you're going through, I can empathize. My mom died just shy of seven years ago and my grandma (my mom's mom and my last grandparent) died a little over a year ago.

@@SaltimusMaximus Definitely! Talk to those who've past as if they're physically in the room with you. Put up pictures. Every year on Mother's Day and her birthday, I buy my mom flowers. I keep them for several days before taking them to my dad's house, where he keeps them until they die. I bought my grandma some flowers this year for Mother's Day and will buy some on her birthday in August.
Looks great! I do have to say that I'm quite amused by the phrase, "screen-used dents."
Just make sure you have any more unwanted holes patched up and those brackets on the footer panel that hold the side steps removed before the fresh coat of black! Have the underbody rust-removed and primed/painted too and bend the landing gear handle bracket back into shape. Keep on checking those screenshots! Can't wait to see the wheels painted black!
When you were spraying the primer, the music from Junkyard Dog was playing in my head 🙂❤
Nice job! My week is incomplete without this channel. 🍀🙏
Hey Joe this looks great! Make sure u don't wait to long with priming the aluminium. it's blasted now so the aluminium will start forming a oxide layer, which is very hard to deal with. Also make sure u use a correct primer and paint system. I have painted aluminium trailers before with Standox fleet. this a professional paint system formulated for trucks and trailers, ie big aluminium surfaces. Most big paint brands have a fleet line just for trucks.

yup. Special etching primer for aluminum.
Every time I watch the show and see the semi and trailer it makes me so proud to know that it's being fully restored to it's glory.
09:45 looks like the trailer is now beached 🤣
Oh man! Yes! It looks so good and it will look even better! This is such a turning point in the restoration!
One thing you should whatch out for is if the damage was done during the show, then the repair might have been done during the show aswell!... in that case you might want to keep the repair... it is part of its show history.
What an amazing find . That trailer was a part of our childhoods to know it survived and is being restored is freaking amazing
Big step in the restoration process, a key moment even as this changes the look how it used to be, great work :)
Great Work Joe, Thanks!!!! Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
I would say remove all the body filler anyway, it looks like standard Bondo, which really degrades over time since it shrinks and expands at different rates than the metal panels. I'm sure there are modern products that are far superior, if you're not replacing the panels.
It sure is comming along... now start repairing holes and imperfections before u fully prime.. great work
Well that was, to use a phrase, blast from the past! or blast to the past! Excellent job Joe. Your and others hard work is starting to come to fruition now.
Yay!! Another big step. It's, good grief now I have the "Star Trek Enterprise" theme playing in my head. It's certainly however took a lot of work for y'all to get it to this point. At least considering now in a way you're getting to see what you still have to work with.
It's all looking really clean. The best part about the sand blasting is that the trailer is now free of unsightly rust spots and it looks a whole lot nicer.
I loved knight rider awesome car watched every episode and even the new knight rider show i love that you are bring back the truck and trailer from the show thanks for keeping my yourth a live great channal following all the progress that you are doing
never thought I would be so happy to see flecks of gold paint... this is really coming on greatly
What a difference Joe!Wow! I am beginning to get really excited now it's getting its coat of paint.Thankyou for this.
Amazing! And the sand blasting is a bit like ASMR :P
Good afternoon
Really cool that you were able to get both the GMC General and Dorsey trailer in the same shot @ 3:37. Looking great so far.
Great to see! Can't wait for that black paint to get sprayed on!
So awesome! I'm excited to see once the trailer gets the black paint. One more step closer to original look and feel. Great progress!
Looks a dam sight better sandblasted... :) Keep up the great work Joe, Can't wait to see her painted :)
This is the time you wish inanimate objects could talk. The history the trailers been in all the years would be a fun to hear from that perspective.
Very excited seeing the progress getting done watching from South Africa
Awesome...gonna look killer in black n gold

Regardless of if he wants to filler so it looks perfect or if the show look “has dents” I would suggest removing the filler to not only inspect how think it is (you don’t want more than 1/4” thick, or it will be prone to fail) but as a body man you never trust anyone else’s work. It needs removed and redone regardless for that reason
Great to see this leap forward, and we learn yet more about the trailer's history - good spraying technique by the way !
This thing starts comming together
Not sure if this has been mentioned by others. But is it possible the holes on the side door could have been done to setup camera rigging for some shots?
@dh2032
Жыл бұрын
yes, over all the episodes, the must of been many cameras mounts temporally stuck all over the place, that could possibly explain every random grouping of holes, that brings up a question, is there a standard cameras mount, that used in the film/tv that uses bots, needing the making of holes? might even be apart that could added back, to the trailer, too?
Are they going to sandblast all that rust underneath as well?
Amazing, now you can see the door frame, now that white has gone 😊
2:04 Hmm. What might that fender be to?
It looks good looking forward to seeing the black on the trailer
Oh wow! What a massive action - I have never seen anything like that. Another shift towards the goal! All the replaced part can´t be recognised for the original ones - what awesome work, Joe! BTW - the tractor looks fantastic.
The door hinges and lock mechanisms were probably galvinised originally.
I think those dents came from the show.....trailer looking awesome from media blasting
That sandblasting job was massive! I would never have the patience to do that! Congratulations 🎉
Now is a good time to buy stock in black paint as the trailer gets painted. 🤣
Fantastic work 🎉
Looking sharp!
The trailer is coming along nicely! Can't wait to see it all black again and hooked up to the Fully Restore General! 😁
Aluminium needs etch primer, not regular primer. Etch is good on clean steel too, though not essential. The etch primer then gets covered with regular primer. If you use regular primers on aluminium, galvanised steel or some other metals, it’ll flake off later. The rough texture from the blasting will help adhesion, though.
I was really hoping you would soda blast it or use walnut shells. Sanding is so abrasive and causes alot of pitting in aluminum and metal.

The sandblasting hose nozzle isn't that big and also just because it came off easy in some areas doesn't mean it came of easily in others. My biggest concern it needs to be epoxyed primed asap , it really needs to go to a professional truck place and then take care of any repairs after at home.
Increditable paint removal 😮😮😮😮👀👀👀👍👍👍👍 13:56
Looks like tremendous progress. I have been watching a aircraft restoration and they use "alaodyne" to treat aluminum before priming and painting but I wonder why, but maybe to keep aluminum from corrosion and better adhesion for primer and paint?
Shout out to the blasting guys. Not an easy job, and to keep concentrating for 11 hours, hoisting that heavy rig on your shoulder, and wearing that protective gear in the heat. Respect !

Awesome video!! Love your content!!
Lookin’ good! 🚛
Those guys did good, they didn't warp the skin. I was a bit worried about that. Wonder if the dents on the right side were from pulling out beside another trailer and hitting it.
Nice! Although I wouldn't remove the body filler. Just leave it be 😊
Looks great Joe!
Not sure if you are aware but you keep calling all the lights on the trailer marker lights. The lights on the bottom of the trailer are called marker lights. The lights on the top of both the tractor and trailer are called clearance lights. Just letting you know.
Primer is typically formulated to be porous so the top coat can adhere as well as possible. Accordingly, the protection from rusting it offers is better than nothing but very far from ideal. If you selected something that does seal, that would be best for the steel parts since it's outdoors.
When the world needed the Foundation, these blokes are on their way to doing just that
Looking great!! I'd notice that red side fender 🤔🤔 new replica or new original KITT found??
Man this is so cool!!! But I hope to GOD that when you paint it you have the proper facilities not just in the yard! Cheers!!!
I agree with everyone else. Remove the bondo. There is no telling if the surface was prepped properly when it was put down, and it appears to be cheap Bondo brand filler. You wouldn't want it coming up under your new paintjob.
To The Knight Rider Historians, When you look at the crew who sandblasted the trailer and dressing in white, does that remind you of the crew who first working on KITT in the pilot episode?
You guys are so amazing I love what you do
blasting. so satisfying to watch.
Took a big step and it's about time, Awesomeness
That body damage may be from the other movies or shows the truck and trailer were also on
Really enjoyed that
Noice!👍🏻 Question: Should the red fender leaning against the tree tell us something?
No debris left behind? Sand, paint, dirt etc all inconsequential?
Starting to look lit .
The trailer is coming along great. I couldn't help but to notice a fender for a Trans Am leaning by the tree. Any chance KITT needs repair now for some reason? Or just a spare part?
I find it a bit ironic that the trailer now looks like KITT did after being rebuilt from his acid bath :P
I do have a question. when the sand blasting team comes back to finish the remain spots on the trailer, are the wheels going to get media blasted at the same time or is that going to be a project for a later date?
MASTER BLASTER !
😮 Sand blasting? I thought you were having it sodablasted ?
As a body man I will suggest this about the body filler. If you end up wanting the dents finding them from the show I would suggest removing the filler regardless. That looks like typical bondo brand filler wich is cheap crap but aside from that never trust someone else’s filler work (you don’t know the prep they did to make the repair and if it was done right). Tear it out to redo it and make sure it’s repaired correctly as well. You don’t want more than about a 1/4” of filler in any area or it will be prone to failing over time
@salland12
Жыл бұрын
The bondo is hygroscopic wich means it wil absorb moisture, especially now its exposed like that. i agree remove it regardless. Don''t get the aluminium to hot when sanding it out, it wil warp.
So what about wrapping it vs paint. Would that be a cheaper option?? Same with the semi, would probably be cheaper to wrap vs paint
So….. are you planning on painting the truck and trailer at the same time? Or separately?
Does that kind of blow the theory that the stripes were vinyl? I think it might have been paint.
Don't know if you're aware that Lampoonery! Made a Knight Rider - Fast and Furious crossover in memory of Paul Walker and Edward Mulhare
You don’t want to touch any steel with your bare hands as it can leave oils from your hands and you don’t want it under the paint
Yay
did they sell it to you as "media blasted"? Because sand blasted sounds too much like a badly crippled surface? I am aware that soda blasting is way more expensive. But worth the price. I hope you'll find a way to get the surface smooth agian. especially the rivets.

@@KnightRiderHistoriansOfficial If its the surface you were looking for to make a smooth surface with effficient effort, then I am happy as well ! From the footage it just looked like a rough, sandblasted surface to me. From your words I assume, that the glass blasted Aluminium has a much smaller grain, that's easy levelled out by the upcoming primer and paint. May I ask, Why you prefered glass over soda blasting, like they did the first time?
@paulreichelt1259

@@genius1a soda blasting leave a residue behind that has to be cleaned off which is extra work and if its not done properly the paint won't adhere.. Soda blasting is a little oldschool now , glass is perfect for this job because it won't create a lot of heat and it won't damage the surface or warp the aluminum.

@@paulreichelt1259 ok, my limited knowledge only applied for normal steel applications on a hobby level. Before I only had sand, dry ice and glass balls on my radar. I had heard from soda blasting here the first time and on the Trailer it looked so well under the chipped paint, that I was really impressed. Seems, like you have to choose the best fitting method out of many, for each given application and there can be side effects, not noted by the amateur eye.
