    I'm curious, why is that? I have very little experience with metal working, so I really don't know how it is to work with titanium. But is it because it can't be hardened like what other people say?

  • @SamTownsBladesmith

    @SamTownsBladesmith

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@lasmgoogleaccount9728 yes, titanium is very wear resistant, but fairly soft. It makes it tough to grind but doesn't give you a good edge. There are titanium alloys that do have a higher hardness, but they are rare and expensive

    @@SamTownsBladesmith Man, that was a quick reply. Thanks for the info, I have never worked with anything outside of aluminum, bronze, and seldomly steel. So I was very curious as to why people say titanium cannot be hardened through either work hardening or via quenching. Getting a proper explanation really helps to understand. Thanks a lot, man.

    Titanium is softer than hc steels but can still be sharpened it just doesnt hold an edge as long or as well The upside to titanium is its lighter and is more resistant to oxidation or damage from tension or torsion

    correct me if i'm wrong but titanium for blade steel doesn't seem practical...might be lighter and corrosion resistant but don't think it'll ever hold an edge like good ol' fashioned carbon steel. likewise it'll probably snap before it bends.
