KLR650 - New Tusk D Sport Tires - On/Off Road Ride & Review - Awesome!

Ойын-сауық

Are the Tusk D Sport Tires any good on a KLR650?
Oh yeah, they sure are!
Just got a fresh set of D Sports put on my KLR650 and I do a ride & review in this video. I was curious if I'd feel any difference in the ride with the KLR due to its weight. Nope. Ran just like I expected it to, which is to say...just fine. Little squirrely in the loose stuff but I had kept the tires aired up so no surprise. I have the D Sport tires on all my other bikes and think they are excellent. Hope to get 3500 to 4K miles out of this set, we shall see! If you're wondering about a great Dual Sport Tire to run on your KLR650, look no further. The price point and durability of the Tusk D Sports are spot on!

I was just eyeballing these. I originally bought some Kenda 270's to try but ended up putting those on a project DR650 I picked up.

Awesome video. Great detail. Do you mind me asking what size front tire did you put on your klr650? I have a honda xr650l. Tusk dsport tire I ordered was 90/90/21. When I called rocky mountain atv sells rep was pitiful! She had no clue how to cross reference tires. Thank you for your time pal.

Appreciate you watching! Yes, I have the Tusk D Sport front tire in 90/90-21 on my KLR650.

I'm thinking of throwing a pair of these on the '14 XT250 I just bought. It still has the original Trail Wings which are obviously way overdue for a change. I'm looking for something more dirt-oriented than 50/50s and not as extreme as a 10/90 like the Kenda Trakmaster. The price on these versus the competition in the 30/70-ish territory is really hard to argue with, especially seeing as I have yet to find a reviewer angry about their quality. Seems like the biggest gripes are with the front tire at high speed on the road or sandy stuff, that and installation/tube changes in the field. I'm not thinking that would be much of a concern with my little 250 and the riding I do. If I was more hardcore offroad or planning on putting more highway miles on I would probably be considering something different.

I have the Tusk D Sports on my XT250 and love em. As a matter of fact, I have the D Sports on all my bikes. I think they are a fantastic dual sport tire. I've put my XT250 through some fairly brutal terrain and the D Sports hung in there every time. Do it.

You've got really good audio from your camera while riding.... what camera are you using and are you using a separate mic mounted inside your helmet???... I just bought a new Osmo Action 3 and was wondering if an external mic was needed. I have a Bell X9 Adventure helmet and plan on running the DJI on the front of the mouth guard as most riders do. I also ride a '21 DR650 with DSport tires and an aftermarket BajaWorx Rally mid-size wind screen. Thanks for any help

It's a GoPro with the Media Mod. It works pretty good till it decides to get glitchy. I highly recommend using a 'Chin Mount' as well. And yes, I'm using an external mic with that set up. Biggest problem is this setup is heavy and an all day ride gets my neck tweaked. Until I try something else this will have to work. I have no experience with the Osmo camera.

Thanks for the video. I'm considering buying a KLR and just can't tell what to think about all the doohickey worries. Curious what you think about it and whether you plan to swap yours.

I bought a gen1 with 15,000 miles never had the doo done. I did the doo. When I took the old one off it was maxed out on adjustment with the spring a little loose. So it needed to be done but would have gone for a bit.

I have a 2017 and did the doo at 15k miles. There was no tension left on the spring and it was just laying there rubbing a gouge into the case. Doo it.

I would not really describe them as worries lol, alot of people never change it. You do need to worry about the drain bolt and the skid plate though lol, and crash bars unless you are pol tarres
