The high aircraft was not landing but taking off. He had clearance … but not takeoff clearance. His engineer questioned whether the other aircraft had cleared, ‘ja voll’ was his response. KLM suggested that Veldhuyzen van Zanten should oversee the investigation as he was KLM's chief of flight training and one of their most senior pilots. Unfortunately he was the ‘ja voll’ captain who had been killed in the accident

Don’t take off without a take off clearance.. don’t have airplanes back taxi down the runway you are departing from while an aircraft is lining up and waiting, don’t as the back taxiing aircraft pass the point you were supposed to exit on.
