Klein Flickblade vs Milwaukee Fastback - Best EDC tool?
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Lets do us a tool comparison! I just got the New Klein Tools Flickblade utility knife and have been carrying it around for a week. Is it better than the Milwaukee fastback? Is it the new best lightweight multi tool ever? Let's figure it out!
I bought my Fastback from Home Depot, and the Flickblade from Lowes...so.... I guess you can figure out how to search for these buggers on your own OR click one of these links. i get little cash if you buy from the link:

Love Klein. Wish they would have put the flat head in there. They are pretty innovative, so I suspect the next version will have both. ....I Hope!
Great review! Thank you. I have the Milwaukee Fastback 48-22-1903 which holds four extra blades. There's no scredriver or bottle opener, but the handle does make a rope cutter when the blade is closed. The 48-22-1505 (the subject of this video) is on sale right now, online only, at Ace for $14.99. I'm going to order two or three and pick them up at the store tomorrow. I also love my Knipex Cobra pliers (full size). I'm going to add the Mini-Cobra to my EDC.
The driver is also much better centered on the Milwaukee. Great review. Love my Fastback.
Milwaukee fastback + leatherman bond is a killer combo for EDC iv fixed so many things with just those. Good video brother
This was a great video showing the pros/cons/differences. I almost thought something had beat the Milwaukee! But no, I'm content with my many Milwaukee knifes for the time being
I carried the fastback for 6-9 months daily as a technician, after awhile the ball detent failed and I lost the collar and the ability to hold a bit completely.

It comes with a lifetime warranty, so you should be able to get a new one free of charge.
Great comparison, thanks. You need the slotted head bit for many circuit breaker wire clamp screws. I was buying the Milwaukee tomorrow and figured I would take a look at this comparison. Think I'll stick with the Red.
😂 there's the Swiss Army Knife, the Leatherman series, and now we're back to basics. Great review

I just picked up a awesome kline lockblade knife at Lowe's for $20😊. It's got 3 stripping notches and a hole for bending loops. Razor sharp blade, metal handle, fast opener. Nice man
@Zeeangelofdeath

Well of course it going to be razor sharp, that’s standard on utility knives.

I'll tell ya- lots of utility knives are barely sharp enough to cut packing tape. It's weird. The Klien stuff has a fantasic edge
I use the fastback so much, I wore out the retainer for the bit. I have kept it as a back and purchased several more. You also forgot the 1/4 driver where the bit goes. I have used it a couple,of times when on the roof.
one thing i wish the fastback had was a reversible pocket clip, so it was faster to deploy from my pocket
My Milwaukee has the same colar design to hold the detent bearing, and it popped off. Other's have a 'spring' mechanism on the inside and have reported issue with it when switching the bit. One person suggested using a magetizer to, well, magetize the bit holder, another said to drop a 6mm x 2mm magnet in the bit holder.
Another important note to make here is that the Milwaukees screwdriver is centered with the handle when opened, which will make screwing/unscrewing a fastner much easier.

I’ve had both and can promise you when using it as a screwdriver you can tell like at all both of them are more uncomfortable than a traditional screwdriver. And the .1 in off set on the Klein really isn’t noticeable. Overall I like the Klein better because you can take out the bit holder and put it in an impact or drill
Bottle opener will get ALOT of use! 😊
literally not having a flat head on that one kills the tool. still better than most other utility knifes but the milwaukee is so much better and i have used both phillips and flat head at random places because i've had it on me.
wow i think im gonna have to get this just for that 1/4 impact bit alone lol thats something that i could keep a t10 or 5/32 hex in since as a hotel maint i use those a lot.

I could almost justify carrying around a small Railer with some extra bits in it, but at some point, you're basically just carrying around your whole tool bag. It's a slippery slope!
Nice vid 👍👍

Extra blade storage is the tipper for me. I only ever seem to need a new blade when I'm on top of a ladder, under a house, in an attic, or a long walk away from my van. Always gotta have an extra blade. Everything else (driver bits, bit holder, bottle opener) are just extra fluff on these knives, for my sake. My drills and drivers already have bits and bit holders. I have dozens of things in my van with bottle openers on them (and have never once needed to crack open a beer at work).

How about a good ol bottle of Coke? Might need to crack one open while you're on top of a ladder one of these days...

@@HomesteadBandwagon It's rare that I see a glass bottle of Coke. Rarer still that I'd have one on a jobsite. For the occasion I do have one, though, there's already a bottle opener on my belt buckle, one on my keys, a dozen or so on various pocket knives, at least four in a drawer in the kitchen, one mounted on a post on my back porch (next to the can crusher), One in the handle of every paint can opener in my garage, one on my paint scraper multi-tool, one on the brim a Coca-Cola baseball cap I got for Christmas one year...and probably at least ten more I can't think of off the top of my head. Of all the tools in my collection, that's the one I'll run out of last.

Anyone know if you can buy a two sided bit for the Klein?
There is also a slot and retaining clip inside the fastback. Had it forever, then saw someone pull a blade out. Thought they had just shoved it in there, but no, there is a designed space for the blade. 🤯

I carry the Fastback daily, the only bad thing is, to my knowledge they do not sell the double ended replacement bits that have the retaining groove cut into them. I could be wrong, but I have not found them.

The klein bits are a shorter overall length I believe. It may work but there won't be much of the bit protruding

I just grabbed some Klein double sided bits. They do, indeed, work in the Milwaukee with the ball retention in the bit holder. Theres a ball in the bit as well, but it doesn't seem to get in the way as long as you don't have both balls overlapping. Overlapping balls is never a good thing

I picked up the Klien to check it out. Yes, the plastic handle edges are a bit rough (flashing from molding process) which is a bit disappointing. Nothing a litle filing/sanding/touch-up with the Dremmel won't solve, but still. C'mon Klien. The release for retracting the driver isn't any worse (maybe a bit) than the Milwaukee. The single Phillips bit isn't a problem for me as I have a rail of those (flat, sq, torx, etc.) usually at hand. The Milwaukee's screw driver is centered nicely whereas the Klien is offset which is disappointing. The Milwaukee has better ergonomics when using the driver as the recess is nice and smooth under the index finger whereas the Klien is back under the middle of the middle or ring finger, and the channel behind the driver tang is wide with sharp(ish) edges. Overall, the Milwaukee Fastbacks have a much more solid feel. The Kien as nice detents at 45 degrees for both the blade and the driver. The Klien's multi 1/4" attachment with magnets is a win compared to the Milwaukee ball detent holder. Finally, he Klien's driver shaft is a bit loosey-goosey and the Milwaukee is solid.
The main issue I have with these is the inability to reposition the pocket clip. Tip down carry is slightly awkward after having carried tip up carry for the last 20 years

I tired the Milwaukee fastback and I like it but I've had the Philips head get stuck while closed or the spring that holds it comes out 3 different times, I just ordered the Klein one so we will see how it does! I am gonna miss the bottle opener tho😂

the old design of the fastback used a spring to hold the bit; but they replaced that sometime last year will a ball bearing after feedback from customers that the spring failed sometimes. The fastback comes with a lifetime warranty, so you should be able to exchange the old faulty one for a new one.

Same factory? Look at the Doyle one too.
Klein made one for the sole reason of charging more money for the name. Stole a good idea
So the Klein can use regular 1/4 inch bits versus double sided bits.
@HomesteadBandwagon
8 ай бұрын
Yup. As long as you don't mind carrying around a pocket full of loose bits! The Milwaukee will accept short 1/4 bits as well
I have the milwaukee on me at all times and love it - except...the stupid bottle opener!! i am so tired of bottle openers on literally everything, the one on the milwaukee is so annoying because my finger (thumb) catches it all the time. Glad I watched this video tho, I almost switched just because it didn't have a bottle opener. I guess Ill keep filing the opener teeth and wait for something better.
I thought I’ll never lose the bit from the Milwaukee knife. I was wrong. Finding a replacement bit?

I was in love with the milwaukee but the damn bit holder fails everytime and the bit gets lost. I've gone thru 3 so far and they don't offer correct replacement bits. Why doesn't Milwaukee fix the issue?

Couldn’t you just pop off the spring that retains the ball bearing and squeeze it a bit tighter?
just looked at my fastback, and the screw driver doesn't have that ball bearing, at least not on the outside
The fastbacks were so cheap a while back too. Now the price has crept up a bit.
Milwaukee for the win👏👍💥
I hate the Milwaukee bottle opener (I love the knife besides that), it's sharp and right at the mouth of my pocket.

That ball bearing bit retention system on the Milwaukee is shite. It is well known to be shite. The bearing falls out and disappears then, no more bit retention. The older models used a better retention system. Milwaukee messed up by going to this ball bearing retention collar and need to fix this problem by reverting to the older, reliable collar.
no beer bottle opener ???? its a no for me FastBack For the win!! i also bought 2 more
Non-centered screwdriver = nightmare fuel. No blade storage = pain.
