Klarus XT1C: 16340/CR123 Dual-Mode Light - Preparedmind101

I actually had another video for today, but like a curse thats been following me lately, they were out of stock. So here we are. I've had this light for about 4 months. It's a nice light, just comes down to personal taste in batteries ( I prefer 18650).

I agree that a knife and light are important to EDC. I use both everyday. I'm 57 and as my eyes keep deteriorating a light has become very important to me so I have several around and am a big fan of headlamps. Excellent vid and keep, as the English would say, the "torch" vids coming.

I agree with your two most useful EDC tools. I use my little lights all the time. My single AA Thorfire quit on me a few weeks back, just I was getting ready to use it working on my van. I've been looking for a replacement ever since. I don't think this will be it. I don't like the batteries nor that switch.

CR123a(non rechargeable) and RCR123a(rechargeable) are both 16340. 16340 is the dimensions of the battery. (16)=Diameter in millimetres and (340)=length in millimetres from positive to negative.

I used to be into the smaller lights but now I find that an 18650 light is like you say, easier to keep track of but also higher output, longer runtime in the lower mode's and easier to hold because you can have a much better purchase on a larger light...

Great video but one thing... Unless your need is to have an SOS strobe readily available leave Klarus lights in tactical mode... Power on with the main button then cycle through brightness levels with the secondary. This lets you use it for those day to day tasks where you only need the low output but still keeps the defensive strobe available at a single press. Again, great video! But outdoor mode? Nope... Not unless you're camping

Thanks for the review. I agree on the smaller battery. I do run 14500 in my ThruNite 1A V3, for the extra light output, but everything else is 18650. I tried to watch your Atactical 1AS and KZread lists it as "Private". I went to your videos list and it shows a number of your videos that I have watched in the past as private also. is there a fix?

Worth mentioning that they changed this to an electronic main switch instead of the mechanical forward clicky that the previous generation of the xt1c and the xt2c and xt11s have. Basically no momentary on anymore. Also, I had major issues with this light accidentally being switched on in my pocket because of this sensitive new switch. I wanted to love this light but I had to stop carrying it because of this. Too many red hot pocket moments!

cr123 are 3.0v and usually 1500mah. 16340 (aka rcr123) are 3.7v and like 700mah. a flashlight like this will need a good high drain 16340 to hit the 700 lumens. not many on the market right now. the cr123 has better range of operating temperatures and longer shelf life. 16340 will be brighter with less capacity and will self drain over time, especially in high temps.

Randy Yeager That makes three of us. The compact-ness does not make up for the lack of battery life. And as Chris said, easy to lose. Heck, the two torches I most regret buying are the Olights S10R and S1, both CR123.

they should sell it with a charger. mine can't do that strange type of battery. bought it for 14500 and 18650 and the normal stuff... also the switch is not practical, the way I carry my lamps I would constantly engage it and drain the battery before I know.

I love the UI on the XT11S and figured this would be a cool little light. but after playing for just a few min this has no tactical application at all. Since it has no momentary(really).... the button only wants to work if gripped perfectly. Don't try to hit the button if it's oriented in your hand any other way than the main button at 6 oclock. great review but very disappointed. I should have know nothing can beat my E1D.

Leslie Kovacs, In my opinion, if you ever plan on using the strobe feature on a flashlight, it has to be instant access. If you have to turn on your light then hold the mode button for three seconds (like on my atactical A1), then it will be too late. Don't get me wrong, I am loving the A1 so far, I just don't see myself ever using the strobe.
