KJV Wide Margin Sovereign

The Thomas Nelson Sovereign Collection just got the wide-margin treatment. Like the regular editions, it's available in KJV and NKJV, and in several cover options. They made a few tweaks to the Sovereign's design and made a few improvements to the physical design that makes me claim this as one of the best wide-margin editions available. In this Bible review, I'm looking at two editions: one in genuine leather and one in imitation leather. All are made in India.
Update - the paper is 39gsm.

I have to get one of these soon! I had bought my mom the leathersoft brown personal size a couple years ago and had planned to get a purple one for myself. I changed my mind after getting hers because the paper was so white it hurt my eyes and the same for all the red accents. The drop caps being red was a distraction and to much for my eyes, but I love this gold so much! The paper not so bright white and the gold accents really draw me to this. I love all the white space and it just lays so nice without having to really fight it to stay open. Or get carpal tunnel trying to open it enough to read the words going into the gutter. I really really love the look of this!

Just purchased this bible for $70 in geniune leather. Im sure there are alot of bibles better than this but i cant sink $250 in a premium at the moment, maybe one day. Im just gonna use this bible and do the best i can with it and try to learn about Gods word.

Just put some art gilding on it and it looks better than almost any premium. Honestly I enjoy premium bible stuff but it’s also kind of absurd and I think it’s great some people are making affordable bibles that look as good or better. Maybe if you want an heirloom but otherwise the only thing I truly find better about premiums is the paper feel and that’s still debatable since often-times the cheaper paper is thicker and has the same or less show-through.

Just purchased mine! I'm really looking forward to getting it. I'm not sure why Bible publishers are averse to having margins on all sides, but this is the first one (other than the mega premiums such as Cambridge, Schuyler, and Allan) I've seen in a long time. I can't wait to get this!

Mine just came in...and I think this is what the Sovereign Collection should've been from the start. The gold drop caps look great, but having them and the page headings in gold really breaks up the red in the text. A great decision! The white/gold/red/black colors go together really well, whereas the previous edition felt almost too red. The paper feels good and looks good, but it's not as easy to turn as the previous paper. That's actually my biggest complaint, but I'm sure it'll get better in time. I know they had to change the paper to make it suitable for writing.

Thank you for the review. I got the genuine leather version and it was disappointing in the quality control. The ribbons had gold tips, ink on the pages, Knicks off of the leather was peeled off, gold characters bled though some pages...just a hot mess. Needless to say I'm returning it. I ordered another and it's better..ish. It does have calkaling but it's doable. The leather has some imperfections but honestly I'm prob gonna get it rebound if I keep it. Not to impressed with QC. Hopefully they will get it under control.

@@BibleBuyingGuide A quick follow up question if I may... While I u/stand a wee bit about the GSM/ghosting/etc (I looked those things up after your mention, ha), it seems some PENS have an ink that is maybe more absorbent, maybe more permanent, etc, so are there any recommendations as far as the writing instrument goes? Thx again!

I was hooked and very interested until you mentioned and showed the red letters in the New Testament and I became unhooked immediately. Other than that, it does look like a very neat Bible. Probably the biggest disappointment is the binding. Not saying that Thomas Nelson makes a bad Genuine Leather. In fact I think they have really improved it. But when it comes to a bible that I think the general use is note taking I feel like this bible isn't going to last much past a year for a person reading and note taking everyday. I really wish they would put out at bear minimum a cowhide bible just to have one that will last. The only reason I say that is I have there genuine leather study bible and it is a nice but It isn't my note taking bible.
