Earlier this winter we chased KiwiRail Train 623 from Hastings to Woodville behind a pair of DL class locomotives. Only a few trains run at the moment due to the ongoing works on the line from the Hawkes Bay floods earlier in the year.
Train 623 is the only daytime train scheduled. Train 620 used to cross 623 at Otane, but now runs to Hastings during the night. Due to bridge washouts between Hastings and Napier all trains terminate at Hastings.
