The event is written in to the very noir 1960s WW1 war-movie FRAULEIN DOKTOR ..but they have it as a U-boat ambush, not a mine..

It is a pretty wild part of the coast and there was a storm blowing from a direction they didn’t expect. I really don’t know though.

Interesting claim at 5:54 that 'The British Fleet was defeated at Jutland'.

Yes I know there is a debate about that, but Britain lost more ships than Germany and I believe at the time it was considered by many to have been a bad day for Britain.

@@dipinmedia But since the Germans never came out to play again the British won. It's no good having a fleet confined to port

incredibly, I've seen accounts where the ships/men were jeered by civilians as they passed under folding bridges and stuff returning to port...women schreeching COWARDS!!!! so yeah, apparently there WAS some perception that their either or both got their asses handed to them,or even ran away...lol.

The point I was trying to make (probably badly) was that the British public at the time thought of it as a defeat. They were not to know that the German fleet was going to stay in port. It was just a few days later that Kitchener was drowned. This was another blow to the British war effort and was bad for morale.
