I’m from Ohio and I live in Indiana, I’ve never heard that expression! We say “running around.” I always have smoked sausage, teriyaki sauce, brown Minute Rice, frozen broccoli and water chestnuts. I can make stir fry on nights I get home from work and want a good, quick meal. My husband loves it! My mom sent me 10 packets of chili powder from Cincinnati! It’s the same brand she’s used since I was a little girl and the only one I use! I’ve already made one pot of chili and it’s not even officially fall yet!

Hi Renee! You can also buy fresh ginger and just stick it in a plastic ziploc bag and freeze it. When you are ready to use it just simply use a grater and grate the amount you need. It works great and lasts a very long time!

I grate or purée before freezing it in a reusable ziploc bag. Spread it as flat and as thin as possible. Once it’s frozen I can break off as much as I need. I do the same with fresh a turmeric root.

I used to make my own mayonnaise and salad dressings. We lived in the country, it was hard to find things in the little bitty markets, so I found recipes and made my own. I also was not working so had time to experiment with cooking from scratch. Such a difference in quality and taste. Love your videos.

I use Wick Fowler's 2 Alarm Chili mix, which is sold in the same area. It makes the best chili and you adjust the spices. We make frito pie, chili over brown rice, chili mixed with elbow macaroni, chilli on a salad to make a taco salad, chili with saltines, or chili over grilled beef hot dogs. We usually have small dishes of jalapenos, shredded cheese, green onions, and mustard to add flavor. You purchase the red box and an 8oz. od unsalted or low salt tomato sauce and add to the ground meat. I would never use anything else because of additives or etc. Let me know if you need a box.

@@diliaortiz1939 oh yes! It all depends on the vanilla beans you use. I use the Madagascar vanilla beans, and if you do it get the Extract Exclusive Grade, it’s really good. I also put it in amber bottles, this helps to keep the extract fresh. If you use clear glass just make sure it is stored in a dark place. Once you have the alcohol and beans in the bottle you store it in a dark spot and gently rotate it every week for at least 6 months before you start using it. I made a lot of the for Christmas a few years back with the instructions and the recipe for my mama’s chocolate meringue pie as gifts. It went over really well. And like a sourdough starter kit, everyone except for one cousin is making their own vanilla extract.

Here in Idaho, they serve their hamburgers and sandwiches without any condiments on them. We moved here from another state, and we thought that was so weird. We have to ask for condiments to be brought out to the table every time we order a sandwich. I guess that's a thing; eating a dry sandwich. 😂 P.S. Most chain restaurants don't do this, just the mom and pop's.
