Great video. The problem we had was hard to stain the sun faded blotched part. The stain would not work because the remaining finish blocked the stain..

What if the cabinets are painted burgundy and not a natural wood finish. And some of the wood paint has peeled off. How would you stain that after cleaning with murphys? Or do u recommend i repaint the cabinet. Thanks.

You would need to strip off the paint before applying wood stain. That is quite a job. Would be easier just to repaint them.

How thick should a wood box be?

Thanks so much for doing this. Question...could i do the thinner then a QUICK STAIN (stain the whole thing) all over? Not just the bummed areas? Like a lazy stain without having to sand. Or, just stop being lazy and do it right is the better option?

You can do that...it just might take longer to dry but it should work fine.

    What about water spots?

I guess that depends on how big and bad the spots are.

Whoa. Waaaay too much work for a “difference” (??) nobody would notice. Time to call the contractor and order a new kitchen, preferably in something other than 1990’s walnut.

First of all it's not alot of work. Also, is saves thousands rather than replacing. 3rd its Cherry not walnut.

New kitchen cabinets for me was quoted at $40,000. I can't afford that. Plus the environmental concerns - my 20 yo cabinets still in pretty good shape why trash them? (Some only need cleaning.) Good contractors hard to find/long wait time and won't do small jobs. So this is a DIY. Plus you learn more with each project. So grateful I found this vid. Will start project next week.

I've got 90’s oak and this is exactly what I'm looking for! The cabinet & drawer look refreshed compared to the rt ones. You want a different look, then you're not gonna want to do this.
