You’re right. They tried it…it wasn’t successful, but I’ve always liked it. And I feel many have rediscovered it and given it another listen. It has some nice moments on there.

Say what you will about The Elder, but it has its place in KISStory. Fans still dig it. I liked it when I got it for Christmas in 1981…and I still like it today. That crowd reaction says it all, too.

I’m sure the movie would have included a cameo from the band…probably disguised as characters that you wouldn’t have known were the band to begin with. Would have been cool. End credits song???? “I”?

I got it for Christmas that year too on vinyl and cassette my parents always got us both when they got us music and by July I had to replace the cassette cuz I wore it out LOL. I have always like the Elder and Always will..

The Elder is an amazing album, compelling, dramatic and sincere. These guys stepped outta there comfort zone and still rocked that Sh!! Thank you Kiss

In 1981,this album wasn't been received by the Kiss' fans. Nowadays, this album it's a golden souvenir.

I never understood why Paul is so hung up about the failed sales of The Elder. Sometimes it takes time to evolve a classic Kiss Album. The Elder is one of the best. But it took 30 years for this to evolve. I'm sure by now it's a top selling Kiss album.

leokimvideo nope it still is their worst selling album and has yet to achieve a Gold certification (500,000 copies sold). I agree it’s definitely an underrated album though for sure.

The Elder was more of Bob Ezrin and Gene's idea. I don't think Paul ever really liked it, but it did lend it's self to Gene's love of fantasy and horror. In my opinion, that album was the best mistake they ever made, one of my favourite KISS albums.

The Elder has always been one of my favorite Kiss albums. First time I listened to it I must have been maybe 12 years old, now I'm 42. I remember it took a few listens till it ran through my veins, but once it did man its always been there. Hey! Paul Gene and Ace! Guess what? Kiss fans love this shit! Thank you KISS!

The Elder was the only KISS album I saw a TV commercial for. Thanks for the upload. I've now seen this song done live twice. :)

I just love how the crowd goes nuts as Tommy kicks in with the opening lick and everybody goes "YEAAAAAAAH !!!! "

I love The Elder .....as a 12 yr old boy i was right there with them in the whole fantasy world of it all ....Now 54 and still dig it .. don't care what anyone says ...

Underrated song

FINALLY, the double bass drumming can be heard perfectly! It was a shame that Eric Carr's double bass work on this song ended up getting buried in the mix on the album, but here Eric Singer is free to shine! Sounds wonderful.

My late older brother and I both loved The Elder when it came out. But for the rest who didn't like it at the time, it took time for it to finally grow on everyone as a great KISS album. listen to how the crowd went wild in this video when they started playing. Proof right there.

@@vegasaxeman Thank you. Yes, we were very close. The first anniversary of his death just passed on the 15th of this month. I still miss him terribly. Both of my parents are gone as well, and he was my only sibling so for now, until I do see them again one day, I am alone with my memories of them all. You said it man! I missed it first around unfortunately as a kid, but it's so great and different from all the rest. Heard it for the first time in the early 90s on a late night radio show.

Would break up the setlist too much. I love those songs but I guarantee that people would head for a piss or a snack if they played them. It works here because it's fan centric, but at a normal concert? No way...

Music From the Elder is one of my absolute favorite Kiss albums. I remember back in the day of cassettes back in the late 80's, you couldn't even find this album at the music stores. At the time it was the only one I didn't have and I wanted it so bad, never heard a song from it, but I knew I had to have it. I was relieved when they finally re-released it on CD, and it was awesome!!!

Damn I love The Elder. And this song is incredible.

I bought this album when it first came out in Australia 🖒It was a choice for those about to rock by AC/DC or KISS the Elder?l guess l chose the best one👌lve been following this band since about1975 🖒l was 9yr old and never looked back.

Just a Boy...The Oath...Under the Rose...World Without Heroes...Mr. Blackwell...I = Fantastic album!!!

I would have loved to have heard Paul sing this back when his voice was still good, an absolute fantastic song and very heavy

Kiss should actually make a one off (or five) shows playing the whole album. It´s great

Just an old guy and old fan.... loved this back when it came out and have showed their “Friday’s” performance to everyone who will let me to prove The Elder was a great album. That being said, am I the only one who wonders while watching this performance what Halford, Dickinson, Tate, Gillian, or Dio would think while watching this performance? It kills me to see Kiss like this and 2019 is a scary proposition. Best of luck to them next year

Best Elder track along with Only You. Under the Rose, escape from the island, world without heroes . Ive heard this album hundreds of times. I know every lyric. Its awesome.

Love this! People need to stop comparing The Elder with other albums! Just throw it in its own category and its amazing! Eric Carr’s drumming on this was awesome, thanks Singer for pulling it off so beautifully so we can actually cherish it!

I saw them in 2012 & they played Lick it up & Heavens on fire, so good to see them play the rare songs. I would have rather heard The oath than Rock n Roll all Night.

...waaayyyy...before its time. Now everyone is having nothing but positive reactions for Paul's falsetto range. Arguably, Paul was Kiss during the mid 80's. And, his songs are carrying Kiss through labile Zeitgeist of generational universal strata.

KISS Forever Singer shoulda stayed with Alice Cooper , I know Kiss's new lineup plays great, and tour with everyone. ...well everyone but Alice Cooper. Cooper's lineup would obliterate and shame Kiss, just ask motley crue their last tour had Alice Cooper as special guest and all the reviews praised Cooper over crue!!!
