I met Tommy Thayer while working at a restaurant in Oregon and he was the kindest, down to earth man. I told him how I loved KISS and how I loved his amazing talent as a singer and he thanked me with a beautiful smile on his face. I waited on him and his family/friends and everyone was very kind and polite. Was a special moment for me since I’ve idolized KISS since my high school days. Thank you Tommy Thayer for not letting all the fame change you like some of the other celebrities I have met.

This man is a great guitarist. I heard Ace say that he never came up with an original idea. I mean the simple but super effective solo on Psychocircus is super cool. Love that song. What I think is that he is very skilled because he brings himself to the table but its really the kiss sound. Not easy to archieve. Cool guy 🙌

Would love to hear an audiobook autobiography of Thayer. He’s living the Kiss dream.

You have never had to deal w/ Paul and Gene. You don’t know the bullshit Ace and Peter had to deal w/. You’ve only heard one side of the story. Keep in mind, Ace left the band when they were one of, if not the, biggest band in the world. You don’t do that for no reason.

Thayer seems like a nice and talented dude. Gene and Paul should've just let him and Singer make their own designs because right from the get go its hard to accept him. He's not Spaceman, even though he's been doing it the same time if not longer than Ace, but its Ace's moniker and nothing will change that. Carr was Fox, and Vinnie was Ankh because they were different guys. its shitty to put that pressure on them knowing that the audience is just going to regard him as an imposter, no matter how good he is. its unfair.

Say what you like but hes doing what we all dreamed of in our bedrooms years ago. Thank you tommi for keeping our band on the road and beyond. You rock

Tommy, In the event you might read these comments :) I'm old... I, like many others, fell in love and play guitar because of Ace. Once into playing the guitar I found that there were so many styles styles and sounds at that time (Johnny Ramone, Randy Rhodes, Steve Smith, Randy Bachman, Richie Blackmore, Tommy Scholz) to name a few. Still to this day I look forward to learning more than playing out. You have been a great fit with KISS. When I was in high school the crue would get together every weekend for a party and watch the Head Bangers Ball . There was this band that Rocked our world one night. They had a tune called "Hold on to Eighteen". I remember my band quickly worked to learn this song. Just saying.... You earned yours :) It would be very hard to do what you have done. I will admit... I was a critic of the situation with between Ace/Peter & Gene/Paul. Kinda like being the critic of the guy who divorces the hot beauty queen. How could he dump her??? Well... I never lived with her :) I didn't like Vinny filling Ace's boots although musically he did a good job. My thought back then was , they ruined my band. Selfish me. Thanks for being there to keep KISS going. And just remember, You were a Rock hero with Black and Blue to a lot of us Rockers out here. I'm 54 and still holding on to 18... ok maybe 36.

Part of me feels really bad for Tommy as he is brilliant guitar player and a worthy addition to KISS despite all the hate he gets and he just seems like a very down to earth guy. My main gripe is that Tommy should have made his own KISS persona rather than dawning Ace's costume and facepaint. I do prefer Ace as he is my favorite guitar player and the very reason I picked up the instrument but I think Paul and Gene should have showed some respect to Ace and Peter by making each new member create their own costume and makeup. I do get why people are angry about Tommy wearing Aces costume but I think Paul and Gene have a lot to do with that.

Yeah they dawn Aces and Peters makeup but Kiss fans are not fools and don't ge me wrong, I really like Tommy and Eric as musicians as they are great additions to the band but Paul and Gene should have shown more respect not only to their former bandmates image but the fans as well cause its identity theft. I have nothing personal against Tommy and Eric and Its not their fault directly but they should have been given the freedom to create new costumes and makeup unique to themselves. Again I have nothing personal against Tommy and Eric but most big Kiss fans find it insulting that Paul and Gene just said '''oh yeah put on the makeup no one can tell the difference anyway'' At the end of the day the music is the most important part for me but if we are talking image, than what I said stands and I think most people would agree.

Ace SOLD away his rights to The Spaceman character he created and Tommy Thayer as the lead guitarist of KISS uses the KISS character fair and square with nothing but respect and does a great job doing so. Does Ace regret selling his rights to The Spaceman character? I'm sure he does, but he did it and that's on Ace. Paul & Gene made a business decision well within their rights of The Spaceman character of which KISS owned due to Ace selling away his rights of ownership. Bad decision for Ace but good decision for KISS. There will always and forever be only ONE Space Ace, but The Spaceman (and The Catman) character goes on... As with the show. 😏 Ergo why it's called show BUSINESSES. 🤘😎🤘

@@teamexpress851 Upon reading what you said, I concede and admit that I did not intially understand the entire dynamic of the situation at first before I posted my comments. Now that I thought a lot about it much of it was really out of Tommys and Erics hands. Paul and Gene I respect as songwriters and musicians but they do have a very business orientated mentality and Kiss are one of the rare exceptions of a band that have trademark characters tied band members. However I do understand the concerns of why people are sour about another person wearing Aces and Peters original makeup which really falls on the business politics that Paul and Gene put in place. However it doesn't change the fact that fans would have preferred if Tommy and Eric had their own costumes. I know its business and not personal so I will cut Tommy and Eric some slack as I do really appreciate their contributions to the band.

After the racoon, the Egyptian, there really was no use not to design original make up. Personally, I think it is insulting to both the new members and the fans.. SAD!

It sucks to have to imitate Ace, but @ least he has money in the bank for it.

We get what you're trying to say though, however, the fact that Ace SOLD away his rights to The Spaceman character he created dismisses your point entirely. Due to Ace's bad business decision/judgement, KISS rightfully and legally owns The Spaceman character. Tommy Thayer as the lead guitarist of KISS wears The Spaceman character/persona and does a helluva a job doing so. We are talking about the guy that created the design, it will always be his and associated with him. I wore his makeup for Halloween in 1980.I didn't own it, I was just an early version of Tommy Thayer for a few hours.

Maybe instead of wearing ace’s costume try wearing the bandit persona

Outta this world was one of the better songs on the album, not god awful. People do accept him as the spaceman. This hate group is a small insignificant part of the fanbase. 4. He doesn't move anything like Ace. He doesn't stagger or act like he's about to fall. Gimmicks are similar because they portray the same character. 5. He was in a Kiss cover band. So what? Now he does the real thing because Ace screwed his chances. He showed that he could do it better than Ace way back in the coverband days 6. Doesn't ride off the coat tails of anyone. He got to where he is based on hard work. Kiss fans all across the globe know who Tommy is. He's not just a foot note. 7. You have no valid points. Just blind hate for Tommy. Its Aces own fault because he sold his makeup, solos and outfits (Tommy has his own outfits now tho) he could've just said no and Tommy would wear his own makeup and play his own solos. I love Ace and I love Tommy so please don't hate on Tommy calling him a wannabe, 'cause he's not.
