My third grade teacher used to play this for us before EVERY TEST so that we can clear our minds and do well on each test. Can you imagine a bunch of 3rd graders singing along to seal lol. Its the greatest memory I have of her. I will never forget her. I appreciate that she taught us to relax during high stress situations and to just breathe. My ability to stay cool calm and collected during high stress situations is because of Mrs McBee. I'll be 30 next year and this song always makes me flash back to 3rd grade. I can even remember where I sat in class and what the classroom looked like just by listening to this song. As soon as the song ends, I can't remember ANYTHING.

It is a metaphor for his gloomy life before she came and brightened his day as a simile of a beautiful rose contrasted upon grey. "Kiss from a Rose" was written in 1987, several years prior to the release of Seal's eponymous debut album from 1991. After writing the song, Seal felt "embarrassed by it" and "threw the tape in the corner". Seal did not present it to producer Trevor Horn until the recording sessions for Seal II. In 2015, Seal said of the song: "To be honest, I was never really that proud of it, though I like what Trevor did with the recording. I LITERALLY remember the first time I heard this song. Seal was on Jay Leno show in the mid 1990s...I'm a total heavy metal head banger, yet I LOVED this song since then. Seal has a beautiful voice...great lyrics too.
