"The Spirit of the Northwest" is my favorite jingle in Seattle.
Miss the days of Susan Hutchison as a Kiro anchor. She was a classy anchor. Not many with that degree of integrity now.

Miss the days of Susan Hutchison as a Kiro anchor. She was a classy anchor. Not many with that degree of integrity now
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. I know that the late Wayne Cody battled weight issues, but he was NOT a bad-looking guy! In third grade in 1981, I really liked Linda Coldiron, for some reason!
Way before John Marler and Brian Wood worked at KATU Never knew they both had worked at KIRO until now
The one from 8:53 was the one I remember from my childhood....... those were the days

The "CBS News Ticker" isn't being used in the first open, but some unidentified theme. John Marler seemed like one of those news anchors that jumped around quite a bit. Within ten years, he worked at KIRO, WABC in New York, WAGA in Atlanta, and WHDH in Boston.

KIRO has always been the most "produced" newscast in Seattle, as in a distinct effort in the use of graphics, sets, content, etc. KOMO and KING always seemed a bit off compared to the energy and look of KIRO. (The Justice/Brown Report being one negative blip). While the ratings don't perhaps reflect it, there is no doubt KIRO was the most innovative with their different incarnations of a news station. This could have been their downfall, too, as they were the first to try a new formula whenever there was a ratings blip. And please bring back the enforcer package, and the "Eyewitness News" moniker. Those two simple elements are relevant to longtime viewers.

@@blatheringblathers347 Yup, but WSOC's at least looked good. Speaking of Cox, BELO, which owned KING, also owned then competitive NBC station WCNC. Difference? None, yet at the time, as WCNC and WSOC competed with WBTV for a while.
