And now this interview....I have to admit, the way he talks about it and cherishes it...I can say the guitar is in safe hands, with a player that will actually play the damn thing rather than collect it. Zidders Roofurry The really old Gibsons all sing like that, when played unplugged - that’s why everyone wants them lol. It’s just the quality of the wood. The masterbuilders who made these guitars spent considerable amounts of time looking for the absolute perfect piece of timber to make a guitar with. Whereas now, in the factories, they just use anything. I’ve got a 79 and that has so much natural tone, unplugged, that I often don’t even bother plugging it in most of the time.

how do you know you someone will never compare? kirk is great but nothing amazing... hes has a few great solos. but he is pretty shit compared to Gary Moore,Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Srv, etc. his technique is not great, his vibrato sounds like wasp and his fast non melodic stuff sounds like a turkey going blblblblblbbaahahha. and just because someone is not a famous guitarist does not mean they cant have some valid criticism against him. you say there are thousands of technical guitarists.. and that's true but Kirk ain't one of them and he isn't a soulful one like BB king or Eric Clapton.

@@andymccallum8090 Steve Vai, man, I find him annoying and douchey af, Gary Moore is a different style, personally I don't find his music exciting, a bit cheesy also. Anyways, I have met and/or listened to many guitar players over the years that blew my mind in terms of technique and mimmicking, but not many make me play air guitar like Kirk. See how opinions differ? It is not only technique, it's about music, and that is personally subjective but in a way objective, considering Hammett is way more popular than half of the players you mentioned combined. Kirk, SRV, Satriani OTOH, those guys make me want pick up a guitar. Still being inspired by great players doesn't change the fact that I suck as a guitarist, but that is a different matter lol

It's so wonderful that Kirk isn't obsessive over keeping the guitar 100% original. He replaces what he has to replace. And that's what the guitar is for. It's meant to be played and loved. When it comes down to it, it's a guitar for crying out loud. It's not that big of a deal to swap out parts

Note Kirk calls it 'Greenie' and it's briefly mentioned that it belonged to Peter Green. Many people have heard Gary Moore's stuff but if you have not heard Green find John Mayall's 'Hard Road' album (Green replaced Clapton in the Bluesbreakers) 'The Supernatural' will show what this guitar was capable of. There were no 'pedals' as they are understood today, just the guitar and amp.
